teh info:
Square Enix's Final Fantasy XII will have an art style similar to Vagrant Story. The gameplay is also quite different from the series, it is more like an action adventure game than a traditional RPG. You can see the enemies on screen, instead of encounter enemies randomly. The combats take place seamlessly in the environment, without any switching of screens. Also, the characters are no longer standing on one side, they can freely move around in the field. Just like the combat in Vagrant Story, but with 3 characters.
There is a new "gambit" system in the game, such that when you when you assign a gambit to a character, he will use the special commands / tactics / power of the gambit in battles. However, the character may or may not follow the order, depending on his/her relationship with the leading character. There are also other gambits available, which makes a character to use various different tactics in battle. Gambits can be obtained by defeating mid-bosses or purchase from shops.
Thanks to the new character animation system, now many of the cinematic scenes can be rendered real-time, instead of using CG movies. The producer Matsuno mentioned that the story of FFXII is not connected to the Final Fantasy Tactics series, it shares the same settings but not related.
