It's pretty cool in that it can be contracted simply by being on the internet unlike most worms that need to be opened in an attachment or downloaded file. I hear it's a pesky little creature.

Wait a minute, this just in! Typhoid has reported to have been attacked by Sasser as well as another bug that is shutting down all his defense software. Let's hope he's okay and back on GT soon. Before being logged off again, Typhoid was able to brief us on the status of the attack:
***welll i will say that sasser can suck my balls.....and that the only way to get rid of it is to Download a patch...but you cant....cuz it times you out...

Anyway, if you want more information about Sasser and how to protect or remove it, here's Microsoft's page dedicated to it.

Alas...'Tis true......sadly...this is one of the few times i havent been timed out yet...but it laggs oh so much...it hurts....And i cant Download the patch, because i either get timed out, and because i have another Virus that got rid of my Firewall, pop-up blockers and Virus scans...

Who do these people that make these think they are? Former pi**ed off employees? Nerds? It is a mystery...but all i know is that they program the viruses in a code on employees know, using backdoors and loopholes to command it.

Which arises a question...Why doesnt Microsoft just make it so you cant get a backdoor Virus? It would be major profit...just fill in the empty code and loopholes with Fillibuster.

But this whole Microsoft endevor is making mr think about buying me a Mac as well, incase this happens again. I say we all commit these people who make these viruses to Public Stonings and/or Hangings...(Stonings as in rocks...)...

I must now go wipe my Computer to get rid of these pesky viruses...so everything is gone with it. And mark my words Be you Nerd, Geek, Dork or Four-eyes, if i know you made a virus....i will hurt you...

WINDOWS UPDATE

I cant stress enough to do it. I'm safe from it because I patched my computer the day the update/patch came out.

I did a Windows update on all our pc's at work. Since some of them had 98, it was a nightmare having to do each individually.

But no we haven't been hit

LOL, that made me laugh thinking about how many viruses our computers at school probably have.

Typhoid- by time out do you mean it comes up with a countdown timer that reboots your computer if so everytime that error comes up just go to start run and type in "shutdown -a" and if you want you computer to stop lagging soo much every minute just hit ctrl+alt+del and end task on avsever.exe.

Ive been dealing with people that have gotten this virus since friday. you should feel lucky some people cant even connect the virus is taking up soooo much memory.

Thats not what i meant, but i get that and something called "avsever2.exe." and you cant delete those cuz they spawn more every time you delete.

But by "Time out" i mean that i have another virus or something that is constantly active in searching websites for things to download to my computer. After a while your internet connection gets "timed out" which in turn means you cannot access your internet for a certain period of time.

And yes i have that avsver.exe. thing, and it wont go away, so my dad is gonna get someone from his work to come fix it, or we are gonna wipe it, as i have said..

And my tast manager always says im using 100% of my computer when im not even doing anything...so i think it would be best to wipe it...what are some other sugestions please?

I'm pretty sure that my school has it, because I remember my teacher said something about it, and I'm constantly seeing the computer lab teacher check all the rooms in the school. We have at least one in every room, so around 400 in the school. Must not be fun for the administration lol.

What makes you so certain? Tell me about the teachers in your school.
Why are you seeing the computer lab teacher check all the schools in the building.
Do you mean you and me?Why must you not be fun for the administration? I'm glad you find this amusing.

My home network was hit by it, because I had just set it up. (new Dlink router) and i hadn't set stuff yet.

I needed a new reformatt anyway. Everything that I really needed was already backed up.

Two of my friends have gotten it. lol. I laugh at them for not updating their windows on a regular basis. This is the worm that causes your computer to slow down, and eventually shut itself down, right?

If I'm thinking about the right one, then when I got to school on monday, a bunch of the computers in the vocational building got hit with it. They kept calling my PC repair teacher asking what to do.

Wait.. does Sasser slow down and possibly freeze your pc after 10 mins following boot-up? Because that's what my PC does half the time.

Crap, that was a messed up sentence on my behalf. I meant that the computer lab teacher kept checking all the rooms in the school.
