Dyne tried to walk me through this but i need advice. I have spyware or something that wont leave my comp, because the file is "currently in use" or i dont have accessablity. The spyware enables my homepage to be opened to a site called: Coolsearch.biz/index/html/ Other than my normal mytelus.com.html. I can change it to what it should be, but every 3-7 times you access explorer, it goes back to coolsearch.anus.screwed. I really dont want to wipe out my whole hard drive. And im confused as to how it got passed my Firewall, plus my virus scan didnt detect it, and The spyware scan didnt detect it as spyware or didnt delete it. Please give helpful hints or advice.

Use some other spyware. I have Adaware and Spybot, and one finds some spyware the other can't.

If you use windows, try "ctrl+alt+del"ing and closing the spyware (if you know the name - don't close something that windows needs :)). Then run the scan again, and it you should be able to delete it. I had the problem once and it worked for me.

Yeah. Make sure you have Ad-Aware and Spybot installed and UPDATED. I cant stress enough how important it is to make sure both are up to date. And if the file is in use, Ad-Aware has a thing where once the computer reboots, as its getting into windows, it halts everything from loading until it finishes a scan and gets rid of the spyware that could be in use while windows is fully running. Ive had to use that a few times and its worked well.

And I'm very partial to AdAware. So perhaps both would be in order...

And you're telling us that you've gone into AdAware and clicked the update button?

Ya, Dyne was kinda with me...over MSN while i did it. I think it might be a Trojan or something (i dont know what that is, but it could be it) ...But my dad says he has tricks. Its prolly him just smashing the computer until it goes away. Lol

Confused of how it got past your firewall? a firewall only stops or tries to, from things accessing your computer. This is something you clicked on. Either that or something that got thro in a hole in explorer. Which is why, -you shouldnt use explorer- Explorer = bad.

And run msconfig and goto the startup tab and uncheck the things you dont need and the things that look like they dont belong. you only need a few things in there that really should be checked.

There is some weird assed piece of spyware there. I dont understand why the programs havent picked up on it yet. If you know the name of the "virus", look in Add/Remove programs and see if you see something similar on there. If not, try finding the website of the program and see if they have a support area. Sometimes sites will include an uninstall tool of their own that works. I had to use one once but it got rid of a toolbar in IE.

Read through that topic. I doesn't seem to be the same problem, but there may be something on there that will help you. Especially look at the post on the second page that finally solved my problem. Hope this helps.
