Anyone who has been keeping up with PC gaming news knows that NAMCO is publishing Flagship Studio’s first PC game (http://www.flagshipstudios.com/). But I would be impressed if anyone has any clue as to what kind of game are they going to put out. Flagship’s founders created the Diablo series when they were with Blizzard, so I assume it will be a similar style of game. The only things I can tell for sure is that it will be on PC, it will be online and it will be a sci-fi premise. So how will this online play be different? But it begs the question: Where can online PC gaming go from here? What kind of changes can and should be made? What types on PC gaming concepts are on your wish list?

Welcome to GT by the way. Right now, I am totally content as to where PC gaming is. In the future though, I want more massive RPGs like Morrowind. Not more MMORPGs. There are way too many of those on the market right now. I've tried them, but they really aren't that fun without a friend to play through with. But anyway, I got a little off topic.
Once Dx9 becomes the mainstream standard for games, I wanna see more games like Morrowind. Where you can do anything you want.
Um, I don't know. I would like to see virtual reality develop, even though that's far into the future (true virtual reality anyway).
But yeah, I'm pretty content with where PC gaming is right now.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the progression of today's PC games too ~ especially with the shooters... anyone who has played Call of Duty or Far Cry will probably agree with me.
I do wish RPGs would develop better combat systems though. What I love about shooters is that they make you feel like you're really interacting with an environment in a very real way. What's great about RPGs is how open-ended and immersive they are. I would like to see the two worlds brought together so that the best of each is preserved.
That's one reason I'm so anxious to find out what this 'secret' project is that Namco and Flagship are collaborating on ~ maybe it will address some of the issues with today's RPGs. I wish they'd just come out and say what type of game this is going to be. It's driving me crazy…
http://namco.com/news/63 - they're not revealing much. However, I did see some concept pictures;

I like the way PC gaming is going, for the most part. More so than consoles anyways.

I have Call of Duty and FarCry. CoD is, IMO, just short of revolutionary. The engine for htat game is unbelievable. FarCry is also very good. I think it's getting all the attention because it is one fo the first fully Dx9 games to come out (I think). I'm just glad I can run it good with everything jacked up, lol.
But yeah, that game you're posting about seems very interesting. I'm liking the concept art so far. It seems to me to be an RPG. I hope that Flagship's first game on the PC comes out with a bang. I would love another RPG to play. I've already played Knights of the Old Republic twice. Far Cry, UT2k4, and WarCraft 3 are currently taking up my time right now though, so this game can wait a little. Of course, once The Sims 2 comes out, I think I'll be quite addicted to that.

I couldn't agree more. Those are both games that make me glad I have a good gaming PC. COD is the coolest military action shooter I've ever played. Far Cry has just about the best of everything.
I'm also excited at the prospect of a new online RPG. We'll just have to wait and see how this one is going to be different ~ they're still not telling us anything!
PC online gaming = teh BEST.
its pretty much all i play anymore. rarely do i play any single player games. The only one i might really play thro will be Half Life 2 cuz the single player looks amazingly fun and well thought out.
Console online gaming looks half a world behind PC online. it has a while to catch up. if it ever truly does.
UT2004 Onslaught takes up all my time right now. untill HL2 that is.

Yeah, I agree. PC gaming online is the best still. Most games I play online, I barely touch single player on them. Until HL2 like Null said. That single player looks to be great. Hopefully multi is just as great.
