I've been playing Savage for a long time now, and I guess it suddenly hit me that I should find out who plays it on here.
For those of you who don't know what Savage is, it is two kinds of games. A Real-Time Strategy game and an action game. It's also completely online. Not in the sense of a MMORPG, but in the sense that there is no single player mode, it's all played as hour long matches between real people online.
There are two teams, Human and Beast. Most games are played as such, Humans vs. Beast. However it can be any combination.
You have the option to command or be a player. If you are the commander, then the game is viewed top-down and is played as a real-time strategy game like Age of Empires or Starcraft. You build stuff, get weapon upgrades, and tell the players what to do. Who to attack, when to mine, where to move, etc. Objective of the game is to protect your stronghold while building offense to destroy the enemy's stronghold.
As a player, you generally get to do whatever you want or think is best for the team. It is your choice to listen to the commander when given a command. If you have a good commander that knows the map, it's generally a good idea to listen. But if you know the map then it's just as important to listen to yourself as it is the commander.
Just about the best game I've ever played, definately something everybody should pick up considering it's $30 off the shelf and has no monthly online fee.
Anyway... Anybody play it?
