I went out earlier this evening to buy Sony's EYE TOY for PS2...I was planning on getting the one that comes with the 'Groove' game/software, but apparently that isn't out yet. So I picked up the 'Play' version instead. $60 canadian.
I had read earlier that the Eye Toy CAN be used as a PC Webcam, but a little tinkering needs to be done with this code from a downloaded driver for some other USB Webcam. Anyways, I have it up and running and videochat works on MSN and everything. Simply superb. Image quality is better than a lot of old web cams I've seen before...and the still shots I've made from it are fine so far, but the resolution only goes up to 640x480, which is more than enough for me.
I'm gonna try out the actual GAMES on the 'Play' disc either tonight or tomorrow...so I'll be back with impressions from that.
I also can't wait until 'Groove' comes out. Lisenced music, interactive dancing/motion/hitting targets on screen. Perfect party material

Would you share a couple of screen shots of yourself in the act of having fun?

Do we really want to see Stu "in the act" of "having fun"...?

And I dont think I can capture shots of me playing the games and stuff...I don't have a TV-out on my videocard or anything. And I think Germy's right...not only did that sound weird :p, but I dont think anyone wants to see that.
One of the coolest things I tried out today were the tech demos that are featured on the demo disc in this month's Official Playstation. You can cast magic spells...you can mess around with the filters of the camera to make some pretty trippy effects. Making yourself transparent, etc.
And when playing the 'Play' games, when you get a high score, you get to pose for a picture and it saves the picture with your score. Simply awesome. This boxing game I played was hilarious...you stand with your side facing the TV...and you can see how you're positioned like a boxer against this robot-like opponent....and then you start punching away...and leaning to avoid the robot's punches. This little crowd is cheering and everything...very nice

Me and my friends were high, and went to the sony store.. and we were walking by this tv, and it had the eye toy hooked up to it... It made all of us like really fuzzy, then it would slowly go to normal.. trippiest 10 minutes of my life, lol. I just wonder what the workers were thinking about us, ahha.

There is supposed to be a new disc released called EyE Toy Groove. Legend has it that it will be released April 20th in the U.S.

I played with my eye toy once and haven't touched it since. New games would be welcome, or using the eye toy as a compliment to a regular game.

It would be cool if you could take a pic of your face and put it into a sports game or a fighting game or something.

Eye Toy will probably be supported by development teams, especially 1st/2nd parties. I hear Electronic Arts may utilize the feature for their 'Sports 2005' games.

If you had the the option to take advantage of someone's privacy using an EyeToy via an internet connection, would you secretly turn on their EyeToy and spend the afternoon watching them from your comfortable rocking chair?

That is awesome... And it would be cool if they implemented it into the next GTA... lol, that would be craaaazy.
What would be better is if you could take pictures of people you hate and put them in to the game as the thugs you get to slaughter.

I don't think Neo's idea is wise. Kids might get some strange ideas when they virtually shoot up their teachers.
I think that's why Rare didn't implement the feature in PD!! Just like they didn't use real weapon names in GE and PD.
