Nintendo's new DS handheld will be playable at E3, Nintendo representatives confirmed in the question-and-answer column of the latest Nintendo Dream magazine. While Nintendo has maintained since the system's announcement that it would fully unveil its new dual-screened system at E3, this is the first confirmation that show attendees will be able to get their hands on the DS.
The column further explained that Nintendo does not expect to cut into the market for its Game Boy Advance SP with the DS. Nintendo's hope is to present games on the DS that are distinct from the software available for its other hardware, and thus allow the two handhelds to grow and succeed in tandem.

Responding to other questions about the company's E3 plans, Nintendo's reps also noted that while new titles for GameCube and GBA will naturally be on display at E3, some may be announced in advance of their showing at the exhibition.

Afterward, Nintendo may prepare another public exhibition this year. While a firm decision has yet to be made either way, Nintendo is apparently considering holding one of its irregular Spaceworld events later this year. Spaceworld, a public exhibition of Nintendo games and hardware usually held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Tokyo (the same location as the annual Tokyo Game Show), was last held in 2000 to debut the GameCube hardware.

As the DS comes into sharper focus, we'll continue to deliver more updates in anticipation of the full story at E3. Look forward to it.

Man, what i wouldn't give to be in California around May.

GameKinG or Crono_Link could probably get you some pictures or video footage. They both live at the L.A. scene. Or for a small fee, me or Justin could drive over there for the event even though it's kind of far away from us.

You're going to have to have a site vouch for you since it's not open to the public. Press Only. As soon as GT has the main page back up they should be fine. But until then...

Could you make me an impressive looking site voucher so that I can be a GT representative?

lol. Yeah, with my massive photoshop skills :D

I tried taking pictures at the Cube Club back when I worked at GT. Cameron hadn't had time to get me a press pass, so I quick made myself a GT t-shirt (the current frontpage logo at the time and "Staff Member" underneath it) and hoped it would work. Unfortunately it didn't.

You have to get ahold of the big "N" ahead of time through GT's press connections (if we have any anymore) and request one from there.

If someone can guarantee me a get in, I WILL go 100% sure. Money won't be a problem getting there since its a few months away.:p

But I wish I could test out that DS. I need some dual screen love:love:

Blah, I'm going to be there in Calfornia at the right time! But due to constraints, I'm too young, and I'm probably not allowed away from my Band, because it's a Band trip...

There's always E3 2005.

Would be a dream to go to the E3, shame it's not open to the public!!
Would be good if we had someone going but if not then we've always got the news sites :)

It would be cool to go to E3, but the DS wouldn't be a major reason for me going. I'm more excited about the 2005 E3 than this year's :p
