I suppose they're my favorite basketball team since I'm near Philly..but I frankly don't care enough about them to care if they're winning or losing. They just suck, it happens to all teams. Look at the Patriots in football. They won the Super Bowl, then didn't make the playoffs the next year, then won the Super Bowl this year. It just happens.

I follow the Sixers fairly closely. They suck for a few reasons...
Have you looked at their lineup?
Glenn Robinson - Washed up,overpaid, often injured, old man
Derrick Coleman - See above
Aaron Mckie - I like the guy, but he's nowhere near the player he was on the 2001 team
Eric Snow - Has always been mediocre, it's just shining through way more in this less than mediocre season.
Zendon Hamilton/Amal McCaskill - Zendon who? Amal who? Get off the court...
Marc Jackson - Injured most of the season, not that good anyway
Willie Green - I like Willie Green, not a great player, but plays hard when he gets the chance
Kyle Korver - The fan favorite. I like him too, has a nice shot, it's good he's getting some development time when everyone else is injured.
Kenny Thomas - Probably my favorite player on the team right now. Only veteran that seems to care right now.
Greg Buckner/John Salmons - Not bad players, show hustle and grit when they get the chance...Will never be NBA starters though.
Allen Iverson - OK, he's done in Philly. I love the guy and will always have fond memories of him, but it's been a bad year. Too many hard knocks are finally getting to him, and that thing when he benched himself really pissed me off. He needs to leave so we can rebuild.
Also, we lost Larry Brown this year and we've had two unexperienced head coaches. I'm not putting much blame on them at all, I blame the management and players for the poor performance, but going from a hall of famer to Randy Ayers is a huge difference.
That's about all I have to say...It's dissapointing, but the Eastern Conference as a whole sucks in the NBA anyway, so it's not surprising.
Now I'm turning my focus to a Flyer playoff run, the Phillies new season, and the Eagles new season. All which I am very optimistic about...T.O! T.O! T.O!
Edit: Whoops, forget about Samuel Dalembert. I like him a lot, plays great D, if he works on his offense a bit he could be a nice starting center especially in the East which doesn't have great centers to begin with.

You make valid points on your post. Allen Iverson IS getting beat up all the time, and I think he should stop pretending to be the soldier that he is. HE IS a soldier, but he's getting older and blows to the neck, head and his shoulder will catch up to him.
BUT... if he leaves the Sixers, then the sixers will undoubtedly loose their torch, if they ever had one. I mean, he might be over for the Sixers but he doesn't fit on any other team and it's a known fact. Every team has their superstars and if they traded him away, they would make the Sixers a deprived team, while the team who got him will feed off of his mentality and heart.
If he DOES go somewhere, what team you think he would fit in?

I'm a Rokets fan, and we are ending the 5 year playoff drought... so I'm happy. :)
I like the sixers too, but this year they are just garbage. If you can't make the playoffs out east there is a BIG problem. (which they still have a shot, but eh, I thought they were a lock for the post season)

I've heard that the Atlanta Hawks are interested. Their basketball town is DEAD, and if anyone is going to put people in the seats, it's Allen Iverson, it could work out. I'm not sure if I'd take any players from the Hawks in a trade though, unless it's for draft picks or a third team is involved...
It will hurt the Sixers to trade A.I in the short run. Ticket sales will go down because they will be rebuliding for a couple of years, there could be some rough seasons ahead, but it has to be done. They got close in 2001 with this group of guys, but it's clear that it isn't going to happen. They need some sort of new look, it's better to start now then after a couple more years of Iverson/Robinson/Coleman mediocrity.
