LONDON, England (AP) -- Harry Potter may be set to grow up.

Writer J.K. Rowling hinted Thursday that she may not stop at seven books about the adventures of the young wizard and may write a further installment featuring the adult Harry.

In a live Web chat to mark World Book Day, Rowling -- who has always insisted she'll write only seven Potter books -- was asked by a fan if she intended to write books about Harry after he leaves Hogwarts, the academy for wizards.

"Probably not. But I'll never say never because every time I do I immediately break the vow," she replied.

Rowling, whose wealth was recently estimated at $1 billion, is writing the sixth Potter book. The most recent installment is "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

"I can't say when it will be released because that's down to my publishers," she said. "But it's going really well. I am loving writing it."

She promised the latest book would include more romance for the boy wizard, but hinted he would also face a terrible ordeal. She added that she planned to try a "completely different genre" of writing when she has finished the seventh book, but did not specify.

More than 16,000 Potter fans submitted questions during the hour-long discussion.

I think it'd be better to let the story end at Hogwarts. Not that I don't like the series I just think that writing an 'Adult Harry' series is kind of just milking the cow for all its worth and I'm afraid they might not be as good as the Hogwarts books.

I agree with you, GM. even though I LOVE these books, I think they should end when Hogwarts ends. It will make the ending more magical (pun not intended), and far more legendary.

I also agree with you two. It's because of what happens in the school that makes it interesting. I don't see how much will happen when he's an adult. He'll just be living somewhere, not around all his wizard and witch friends, and nothing much will happen. So think that the seventh book should end it.

We all know what will happen in book 7: Harry gets a relation with the Hermoin and their pal Ron dies.

I still haven't read the books or seen a movie, but the trailer of the 3rd movie was really cool! :D

Well, that's just one of the few possiblities..but I do agree that someone will die, just like in the 5th book. Obviously, there is going to be a final showdown between Harry and Voldermort, so..it will definitely have to end, because that is the main part of the story. So seven books is what it should stay at.

Well they could give him a sidequest... like in Zelda games. :)

I don't think Harry and Hermione marry, I think Ron and Hermione marry because they're always arguing and stuff and when they get older that should transform into wild attraction.

Oh, Ron and Hermione are both into each other. And they both kind of know it. But Ron's worried because of the whole Krum situation (Hermione visited him over the summer before book 5). And Hermione knows where she sits with Harry. She's wants to be his friend, but with Ron, she's weird. In several books they're really awkward about hugging each other.

At any rate, I would definately appreciate more books afterwards. Harry and the gang know so little about magic compared to Voldey and his followers, so unless he starts picking up the pace I'm going to want more books to see how powerful he really gets.

How can you say that? We haven't even been shown a whole dementor. Just a hand and the sleeve of a robe opening a window in one of the trailors.

I mean, I've heard some people who've seen it (early editor cuts) think there is some resemblance, but they said that it was obvious they tried to stay away from the Ring Wraith design as much as possible.

As much as I am obsessed with Harry Potter, I to hope that the books end with his graduation, or possibly one other... maybe a history or companion sorta like the other Tolkein books.

I hope she continunes writing, just, not these.

oh yeah, Fictionalley.org is a Harry Potter site which has a TON of fanfics, many of which are REAllY good!

i think that it would be neat to have more books because i Love Harry Potter, but the point that many people have made about it taking away from the legend of the books makes a lot of sense... so I guess i just would like for her to keep writing, maybe not necessarily adding on to the HP adventures, but could follow something else

the thing with what happens in the 7th book: no, Harry and Hermione don't get together, it hasn't been set up that way..it is obvious that it is Ron and Hermione that hook up, I have a feeling that Harry might end up with a muggle but that has no fact behind it (just would be an interesting twist)

don't know about the dementors, i think they would try to keep it original

And the final showdown between Harry and voldemort definately depends on whether or not Rowling plans on keeping the HP books going...because if she does Voldemort will have to be a part of them or they just wouldn;t be as exciting

I think what you said about her following with something not part of the HP universe is a brilliant idea. She is an awesome and very creative writer, and I would like to see what else she can pull out for us.

But I hold with my statement before....as much as I love HP, it should end where she originally planned it too.

I think Harry will eventually get with Cho, because book #5 talks about how Lily didn't like Harry's dad too much until he got older and more mature, and I think Harry will mature and realize he shouldn't be a dick to her.

Hermione and Ron better hook up.

And Dumbledore will die...

I guess I can't really relate to the whole 'Harry being a dick' thing. I always felt like he was ignorant of her feelings, but she was of his too. And I mean, most 15 year olds are. That doesn't make them dicks. But whatever :D

At any rate, I'm pretty comfortable saying they'll never get back together on account of this (from the same interview):

"eastbrook4: why did Harry have to split up with Cho Chang?

JK Rowling: That's life, I'm afraid. They were never going to be happy, it was better that it ended early!"

I don't. But I'm pretty sure he'll die before too long and Harry will be left with a lot of questions.

"He said my blood would make him stronger than if he'd used someone else's," Harry told Dumbledore. "He said the protection my - my mother left in me - he'd have it too. And he was right - he could touch me without hurting himself, he touched my face."
For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he could see a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes.

That is what made me think Dumbledore would become evil. Although this may mean something totally different, it is just what went through my mind when I read it.

Yeah, that's always bugged me as well.... Although I don't think Dumbledore would just turn evil; he would have had to be evil throughout the entire series... But it would just seem wrong if Dumbledore turn out to be a traitor... Although I guess that's the point...

I always figured Dumbledore knows that it'll backfire on Voldemort or something...

I love how these books have brought so many questions to myself. Right now, there are too many to think of, but I just love how there are so many cliffhangers. I just can't wait for the sixth book to come out, and I know that when I read it, I will love to see the answers to my questions.

Yeah, I dont think he will just all of a sudden become evil, I think he always has been and will be evil, what i meant was that people will just discover that he is evil.

i don't think that quote from the 4th book is quite what others are taking it as, but i could be wrong: when i read it I took it as this sign that Dumbledore has more and more trust in Harry because he is growing up...and there were other things i thought of too, just can't remember at the moment. (i do remember thinking that something strange was going on, but i just don't want Dumbledore to be evil...he's too great)

I truly doubt Dumbledore is evil. The triumph in his eyes has always led me to believe that there is something about Harry's blood that Dumbledore doesn't want Harry to know about. Something that could hurt Voldemort.

But that's just me. It's not an accepted theory most places you go (newclues.mugglenet.com, for me). But maybe that's just me.

I think that is a good theory, and I have considered it. The reason I think dumbledore might be evil is that JK is known for her super suprising endings.

But, Dumbledore being evil might be too predictable of a suprise.

If Rowling does put out an eighth book to the series, it better not add an eighth year to Hogwarts. It's not like it has to be marked "Book 8" on the spine either. I too, would like an "eighth book" to focus on some part of Harry's future AFTER he has left Hogwarts. Mind you, that's ONLY if an eighth book really does come out. I personally don't care for an eighth book and would just rather have Rowling stick to her word and just end it at book 7.

Now if there's an eighth book that will come out, there just better not be a book 9. Voldemort just needs to DIE at some point. Enough of this madness.

She already has the story up to the seventh year planned out. That's the point that Voldemort's life will end. That part of the saga is definately going to be finished by the seventh book.

The question is whether or not she'll add new adventures they encounter after they graduate.

i think it could be interesting to see what happens after they graduate (as i said before)... but maybe it should wait for a while, to see if there's still interest in it (in other words, it shouldn't be released right after the 7th)

Under what circumstances?Interesting.
Perhaps. It depends on what the meaning of the word "it" is.

Ive notice in the series that when the **** hits the fan dumbledore is off somewere in magic land and harrys left on his own.

It seems that dumbledores purpose is to make harry stronger.
