Firefox with GT - Few problems

I've noticed after you did the upgrade Neo, that when I click on Quick Links, the menu doesn't show up. And also I can't give rep. It just goes to the top of the page.

Anyone else using Firefox have these problems?

I've noticed that I can't open Manage Attachments either with Firefox.

And while I was at work, I was using Firefox also and it worked PERFECTLY fine for awhile, and I went to another site, came back to GT later and the same problems were happening on that computer's firefox as my home comp. is having. So it must be some weird bug in the new release.

ahem. i been sayin for quite a while its quite a bit glitchy.

but thats to be expected in a pre 1.0 version of most anything.

most the minor things should get fixed pretty quickly

I've seen problems reported involving avatars and firefox, but so far nothing like what you are describing.

hehe. thats what glitchy is... it will have it for some peoeple somtimes, and not for others.

only problem i've seen with it on GT was that on the main page with the chart, the time of the last post overlaped the number of threads cell.

but doesnt seem to do that now so *shrug*

I had the "manage attachment" problem a few minutes ago while trying to upload some pics in the PS2 forum, but i just reloaded the page, and it worked fine.

Problem Solved!:D I think working for Earthlink helped me think of this. I just cleared the cache in firefox and the problems went away:D I can see the sub-menu under Quick Links again, give rep, manage attachments, etc...

But I wonder if it was some weird cache bug or something that firefox might've gone weird on since I had the same problem pop up at work after awhile. meh, oh well. At least I can stop using IE again for a few things.

Well maybe it was a bug or maybe not as just because it is a release does not mean it is the best version at time.Search around Bugzilla if your curious and have the time. (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/query.cgi) I clear my cache almost everytime before I close the broswer.

I use the X (Paranoia) extension (http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/x) to quicky delete whatever I want quickly without going to the options. The default X icon is a pink key so I change it quickly with some simple userChrome.css stuff when I feel like it.

add this in userChrome.css (http://texturizer.net/firefox/edit.html#css) or use ChromEdit (http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/chromedit)

If you use the compact menu extension put #menu in place of #x



Just becuse Mozilla Firefox 0.8 is yet to be 1.0 as people alwasy seem to say does not really mean anything in a ways as that is just how they number it. Netscape 7.1 must be good because of version number right? when it was acutully based on Mozilla 1.4. (http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=3345)

Oh and as of Fridays nightly build, the profile location is now going to be Firefox, instead of Phoenix. Things like extensions/themes will have to be reinstalled though migration of bookmarks should migrate automatically. Firefoz 0.9 may be released sometime around April-May or later perhaps as though 0.8 branched Dec.16 and finally released Feb.9 in compairson

they do the pre 1.0 numbers for a reason. they do it because once it hits the 1.0 its ready to be the product they want to release. everything before hand is more like a test. Not to say none of thoes versions will be good, or that the higher the number the better. there will always be ups and downs.

1.0 is what they currently have envisioned for it. its what in thier eyes it will be meant to be, feature wise. it could be buggier then 0.8, who knows. but at 1.0 it also takes over as thier main browser and they'll weed out mozilla.


also, the things above are what i would refer to as glitches. Bugs i like to say are more of a solid problem that everyone has, and would happen every time. glitches more spotty, sometimes happens sometimes doesnt. maybe for some odd reason that the user themself could fix or not.


If i didnt like firefox it wouldnt be in my sig. as ive said before, its got a very bright future.

I'm actually not to impressed with this release as it should have been better. Ben Goodger wanted it ready and out before Christmas but because of various bugs, especially with the installer and was still released with a seriouse bug as in where it could delete the whole directory the Firefox was installed in, if one is not careful when uninstalling Firefox. The extension/theme instalation is also buggy as if you try to install more then one extension/theme at a time in a row then well annoying stuff happens. I was still using the Jan.31 Firebird nightly that was ten times more easier to use when Firefox 0.8 came out.

I have used a ton of nightly builds so I know of bugs and continued regression .. >_<. Heck the last couple or so were 29MB because they were debug builds....oop's heh.

Going from memory here but Ben Goodger has stated that the 0.9 and next one most likely will be on the Mozilla 1.7 codebase for stability, so Firfox may get more stable perhaps.


To get off topic abit: I don't use/follow Opera as much now but various people have stated that Opera was not really that great until the 7.x versions came along to compare.
