Ok, anyone who wants in, get in now, here's what we're going to do.
You pick every team in the playoffs, rank them 12 to 1
Every time that team wins, you get the number of points that you assigned to the team.
Obviously, 4 teams will lose the first weekend, it's your goal to make these 4 teams your 4, 3, 2, 1. Beyond that, get creative. A team that plays the first weekend would win four games to win the superbowl, but would still win three just to make it to the superbowl, where as a team with a bye can only possibly win 3 games, so you'll want to consider that as you rank your teams.
Here are my final picks
12New England
11Philadelphia
10Tennessee
9Kansas City
8Green Bay
7Dallas
6St Louis
5Indy
4Baltimore
3Denver
2Carolina

Eh, The Cowboys being done isn't necessarily a good thing for the Eagles. I would have much rather played them then the Packers...so, go Seahawks.

Yes, I know that, but it's still good to see the Cowboys out of it, because they're the Cowboys. But I would have rather them win so the Eagles could play them rather than the Packers, or Seahawks.

You get tennessee for 10 since you listed philly twice.
Jason, you get GB for 5 and CAR for 4. That's the numbers you put down but you mixed up the order. I don't know what you wanted, but that's what you're getting. Jason also gets indy for 8 as he listed St Louis twice.
Good job.

Though Jason currently has the most points, Stu is in the best position as he was the only one to predict both a Tennessee and a Carolina win in the first weekend (by way of his having both the ravens and cowboys in his bottom 4.)
(Jason also had Dallas for 10, which is going to hurt him later on)
Tomorrow's games are of little significance in the short term, especially if green bay and indy both win, because everyone has both Denver and Seattle in their bottom 4. But if either should be upset, there are going to be a few people hurting (bond takes it on the chin big time if GB goes down.)

EAGLES WIN!!!! I actually believed in them the whole game, and if they lost..I wasn't going to be pissed, because they Packers would have deserved it. AMAZING 4th AND 26 PASS TO FREDDIE MITCHELL. That was so crazy! They came back, and then won it in OT, it was great, but VERY SUSPENSFUL. I'm so happy, and it's good that the Panthers are beat up too. I just don't think the Eagles can beat the Colts or the Patriots. :-\ Well, I can't wait till next week..maybe they'll make the Super Bowl this year, maybe not. And Bond, sorry for you that the Packers lost.

holy crap, the Packers literally THREW IT AWAY.
That game shouldn't have even gone into OT...and then Favre throws a BIRD into the hands of an EAGLE. I'm disappointed...that's not how any team should lose, let alone in OT in the PLAYOFFS.
Ah well, it looks like I'm kicking ass in the pool, unless someone else has similar picks.

Wow, that game was great...just great. I was giving the game to the Packers before the 4th and 26...No way were the Eagles going to pull that one of. To be honest, in the end, I was rooting as much for the Packers to lose as for the Eagles to win. I knew if the Packers won another OT game, that the bull**** destiny, dead dad talk is all I'd hear for a week, it would have pissed me off...I'm glad that Sherman didn't have the confidence to run on that 4th and 1, despite the fact that the Packers were running ALL OVER the Eagles D. And thanks to Brett Favre for throwing what looked like a punt to Brian Dawkins in OT. I'll take on Carolina any day with a beat up Stephen Davis, plus we've already beaten them. Though I'm pissed because I may not be able to even watch the game, but whatever....Fly Eagles fly.

So, what do you people think? Colts vs. New England, and Panthers vs. Eagles. Who's going to the Super Bowl. My picks are Philadelphia, and hmm...it all depends on New England's offense, because I know they have a good enough defense to stop the Colts on some drives, it's just, if their offense doesn't show up, then the Colts will most likely win. My pick is still New England though.

Well..I don't really care this time. The Panthers were here to play, but the Eagles weren't. They made some mistakes, so they lost. I guess we'll just have to look forward to next year. The Eagles weren't really that great these past two seasons, they're way too over-rated, so, I don't think they're ready to win the NFC Championship game. The closest they came was two years ago, in St. Louis. That was a good team, and a good game. Maybe next year they'll make it, maybe they won't, but only two teams can, and well..they just don't seem ready to climb over that last obstacle. So we'll just wait and see. Go Eagles.

Well, if we weren't ready to win the NFC Championship the last two years, then what steps did we take to be good enough to win it? I understand that injuries were a big problem, but we've know for YEARS that the receiving core stinks. They always thought they could tip-toe around that problem, but it was pretty obvious on Sunday that Thrash and Pinkston were weak. I don't care if Terrell Owens is a jerk, we should get him.
Perfect Stu
01-19-2004, 03:30 PM
the Eagles spent too much money on McNabb IMO. They're able to maintain a very good defense, but their offense puts too much pressure on one guy...and he's not quite MVP calibur. Draft a couple receivers on the first day of the draft, I say. Buckhalter and Westbrook will be a great 1-2 punch for years to come...
I like where the Colts are right now.
-We have a top offense that won't change anytime soon.
-We have the youngest defense in the NFL with lots of prospects and good coaching
Within the next 2 years, this team should get to, if not win, a Superbowl.
The Germanator
01-20-2004, 01:43 AM
I disagree with the McNabb money statement...He's the only playmaker they had on Sunday (with Westbrook injured). I don't care how much money they give him, he deserves it all for sure. The Eagles still have one of the lowest salary caps in the league, so McNabb isn't really hurting them in that department...it's more that Andy Reid is very stubborn about the way he runs his offense. He'll contend that Thrash and Pinkston can get the job done, but it's very clear that they can't. The only reason they looked decent throughout the year was because Westbrook was there as a threat....I still think the birds will contend next year despite probably losing one of the corners (vincent or taylor) and Duce Staley, possibly Emmons too..but that just leaves more room for a WR signing (Jackson from Seattle, Owens from SF=not likely...)
The Colts should be pretty good, but that defense really has to get better...Defense usually puts you over the top in the big games.
Perfect Stu

You really think McNabb was worth the $100million+ contract? Honestly, he's not even the best playmaker on offense IMO. His salary will hurt the team in the long run, I think...these past couple years were their best chances to win it all, I see it going slightly downhill from here.

No it won't.
Welcome to the wacky world of ****ed up NFL salaries.
I don't know McNabb's numbers, and I'm a lazy, lazy man, so I'm not going to look them up, but all of these $100 million deals are BS.
Here's an example, (I'm making these numbers up, but this is basicly how it works) in baseball, once you sign your deal, that's it, that's what it's worth, unless you renegotiate you get all of it. To give you an idea of how static the situation is, last season, the highest paid player on the Orioles was Albert Belle. In the NFL, the ONLY guaranteed money is the signing bonus money. So say player X signs for 120 million over 10 years. Chances are, he gets 10 million in signing bonus spread out over those ten years, then he makes 5 million a year the first 5 years, the last two years are probably worth 20-25 million each, and the rest is spread out over years 6-7-8. He'll make the signing bonus, and the first five years, but he'll probably never see year 6, and he'll never ever see year 9. After 5 years he'll either be cut or his deal will be renegotiated. The only people who care about those big numbers are the agents because they can base their commissions off of them and they can say that "I got player X this $120 Million deal."
Perfect Stu
01-20-2004, 09:34 PM
I understand, and actually like the way NFL salaries are organized.
I still think McNabb is overpaid, and until they renegotiate his deal or deal HIM, they're not going to win a SuperBowl.
Is that a little more clear? :p
