I'm going to take the first choice and believe it is genuine and played by someone in real time.

Believing in what that link contains would destroy my child-like innocence and any remaining hope that magic exists and that the impossible can be done. :)

Well, can't help but feel dissapointed, but he did put a whole lot of effort into it...2 years and 20,000 individual frames, that's some impressive ****. I'll give him some props still.

Actually, if you really think about it, there must have been TONS more than 20,000 frames. Think of all of the frames that he cut out when he "rewound" the game. I'd say that the number is MUCH higher than 20,000.
