I've known its been out, but yet I don't care to get the game because I've heard its not good. Plus, it got almost no hype even though it was the first Rare game on the Xbox....Maybe Conker will get a little more hype.

I saw a commercial for it... odd that there are no reviews. Also, the game can't be that bad.

dunno why you guys cant find reviews. i saw many reviews weeks ago, none good tho. From what i've seen tho i dont think conker's going to get a whole lot more hype either, IMO.

Notice my edit? I found some reviews, just not from IGN.
Looks like some kind of Luigi's Mansion to me... short and simple gameplay.

I guess it looks to be just average for a game. But I'm in no rush to get this game anyways:p I'm waiting for Conker/Perfect Dark Zero (unless PD0 gets held off for next gen.)

I played the demo in the OXM disc last month. It was ok.. nothing exciting though. It felt like Rare, but it wasn't fun.

Rare made this?

Speaking of Rare, have they made any games this gen other than SFA?

Rare made made SFA, GbG, and for GBA they are making a Banjo Kazooie game, and some other GBA game.

Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge has already been released on the GBA. It was published by THQ. They're currently working on Banjo Pilot, and that Sabretooth game. And more, probably.

Yeah, I can still get my BK fix. Though I was dissapointed with Banjo-Tooie.

Banjo Tooie was a joke. But not as bad as DK64. :mad2: I hated that game!

I wonder how Rare will do without Nintendo's guidence... Their first game disapoints..

And without most/all of the employees from the '64 days. A good chunk left Rare after Nintendo traded Rare to MS out of spite, which is understandable.

Annoying characters, slow progress, bad levels, 'old' gameplay (same as SM64, BK....). No Donkey Kong feel.

Apparently better than with it. You can tell when a Rare game had Nintendo's stink on it, and they all ended up being weak. You can see two of the games in your post. The only thing I like about Rare is the only thing Nintendo didn't seem to touch, and that is their First Person Shooters. Therefore, I will save my negative opinion on Rare for when they release a crappy FPS on Xbox.

Well, they have lost a good size of their GE/PD teams. Though that shouldnt hurt them too much. But yeah, BT was just plain dissapointing. BK was much better.

I heard they lost almost the whole team who worked on GE before PD was even released... and imo PD still ended up much better than goldeneye. (except for the story, which had no movie to borrow from ;))

I'm sure if the few guys who worked on GE could pull off somthing as good as timesplitters, the reamains of the PD team could pull off somthing just as good. The difference is they could rob much more from PD without it being called a rip-off, and this game is exclusive, so they will get more out of the Xbox hardware than TS could ever... but we'll see.

If this game sucks then Nintendo was smart, but if it's good Microsoft is smart.... all that other crap they are coming out with won't be my judge.

-More annoying than Kazooie, seriously doubt it

-The game actually progressed quickly, the game was just longer than the others

-Level designs were alright, nothing that was innovative for a platformer.

-Old Gameplay? How was it supposed to be new?

-True Donkey Kong Didn't have the same feel as the original donkey kong country, but did Mario 64 have the same feel as Super Mario World, Super Mario 1,2,3? nope

Well, after GE some of the guys went to Free Radical, and after PD, some more guys left to different companies, as well as the project leader for both GE and PD (Martin Hollis) who went to form a company of his own called Zoonami. Zoonami is currently making a game called "Game zero" with Nintendo (or at least only for Nintendo), though it is not a shooter.

Either way, the remains of the team have taken PD in an interesting direction, from what we have seen (just a render of JD), so Im interested.

Banjo-Tooie was a good game. :) The only disappointing aspect was the importance of the Ice Key. Damnit, what a way to follow up. =\ I thought it would be something big.. ah well. And old gameplay? If I recall correctly too, you could change into animals again.. and they were better, too. The T-rex was fun to stomp around in.

I liked Banjo-Tooie a lot, it was a quality sequel. I agree with Dyne though, the supposed connection between the two games was hyped up so much, and for it to turn out so lame...that's a HUGE letdown. Even so, it was a nice platformer.

DK64 was a good game, but not great by any means...It was long and tedious. You don't want that feeling, of "jesus, I have to do this?" while playing a game, and I felt that way much too much during DK64. How can a game start off with something as genius as the DK rap and go so wrong?

Exactly.. that's the reason I'm proud to say I never finished DK64. There were some fun moments, too... Diddy's rocket barrels.. that minekart game, somewhat.. but it was lame compared to the DKC series. WAY too much collecting.. and the game took too damn long to finish. I must have played for months on and off. I think I would just pop it in sometimes to play the old Donkey Kong minigame, which by the way, took about 10 minutes to get to. =\ Lame. It was kind of a steal, too, because it included the expansion pack.... you thought it was a deal getting a sweet add-on and a great game, but nope.. you were suckered into buying DK64 too. =o

But yeah, it was good. I still make impersonations of Lanky Kong's "How... hup!" sound. =P

You can always count on Rare for huge collectathons. Their worse being SFA.

Ginkasa
12-09-2003, 08:57 PM
SFA was nowhere near as collecting based as DK64 was, at least not for the completion of the game. DK64's collecting bored me out out of my mind, but I was able to comeplete SFA and still have an enjoyable time so..

Holy ****! I forgot that SFA existed!... I got that game last Christmas and played for like half an hour. Maybe I'll try my hardest to play it again. I seriously wouldn't have remembered I had that game until I read these last couple of posts. whoomp.

SFA is easy if you apply yourself. I spent a whole weekend on it, collected everything.. the whole kit and kaboodle. The graphics were really nice.. it's kind of sad they finally made a next gen game, and it was good. Took them forever for it though.. bleugh..

But yeah, a two-day weekend.. all afternoon, all night (until midnight both nights.) Didn't even think about a FAQ, collected everything, didn't consult Slippy once. Good game.
