My friends used to play it all the time...but that was about 6 months-1 year ago.
I never really got into it, but after watching them play it enough, I was able to play a few games, but like I said..never reallly got into it.

Oh and Steve played as well.. But he's banned from the forum until he gets bored again :)
I've got some cards, but the last pack I bought was from 5th edition. And before that, I bought the very first starter (way back in 93). They're oooooooold...

i used to play like said above but my good cards where lost and or stolen but i played with my fuzzy critters deck.
it was full of squirels and when it was never that good but it was an ok desk i just needed some deranged hermits. but duffman and ominub are good at the game they alwase kicked my ass
I bought the first set of cards they commercially released over 5 years ago, but I haven't played since. Many of my friends are still very much into it, hell, they spend about $100 a month on cards and get together to play a lot.
If you're not willing to spend a lot of money, is Magic still worth it to play for fun?

Bube, your "old" cards are probably worth quite a bit, especially if you have some from Alpha or Beta (the old blackbordered ones without dates on them).
Me myself... I play the game very, very often.

No ****!
I used to play. Like 1995-2000/2001 somewhere in there. I've probably got several thousand cards laying around.
I think my two all time favorite cards were Hammer of Borgardan (originally from mirage)
1RR
Deals 3 to target player/creature
During your upkeep you may spend 1RR to return Hammer of Borgardan from your graveyard to your hand
My other favorite card was Emperial Armor. I believe it was originally in Weatherlight or Visions.
Enchantment
2WW
Target creature gains +X/+X where X equals the number of cards in your hand.
Last set I bought cards for was Invasion, last set I last really played was the Urza/Mercadian Bloc.

No, I just checked my cards, but there aren't any blackbordered and dateless cards. I've got a ton of blackbordered, and a few dateless, but none with both.
Ahh, whatever. Does anyone know how much a Stone Gargoyle, blackbordered would be worth? I got ripped off by a "friend" when I was 7. He gave me a Noritt and an Ornithoper (?).
And what about Demonic Tutor? Another friend took my Demonic Tutor and Ornithoper to buy me a 5th Edition Starter set. Ripped off again! I admit, I'm not very good at this...

I hate Elf decks and the people who use them. They are so damn annoying, and the only people I really see use them (with a few exceptions) is beginners...
I myself use a very sweet Zombie Deck:
Creatures:
3 Putrid Raptor
3 Gempalm Polluter
2 Sepherd of Rot
4 Rotlung Reanimator
4 Withered Wretch
4 Festering Goblin
4 Undead Warchief
Instants:
4 Terror
4 Smother
Enchantments:
3 Call to Grave
Land:
21 Swamps
4 Unholy Grotto
Sideboard:
2 Zombify
3 Raise Dead
3 Vulshock Battlegear
2 Vulshock Gauntlets
2 Lethal Vapors
3 Persecute
Man...that is one awesome deck...
[Edit] I thought I might want to post the strategy of my deck:
Basically the strategy is to build up an army of zombies as fast as possible. Undead Warchief is probably my favorite card in the deck. It lets me play Zombies for one less mana cost, and it gives all zombies +2/+1. You can imagine what happens if I get 2 or 3 or even 4 undead warchiefs out...Beautiful.
At the same time, I use cards such as Smother, Terror, and Call to Grave to keep my opponet from amassing an army of their own. Call to Grave is a very efficient card....
The Combination of Rotlung Reanimator, Withered Wretch, and Shepherd of Rot is awesome...If my opponet manages to get a huge big stronge creature out, I can just block with my Clerics, and by using Rotlung Reanimator's ability, they all get turned into 2/2 Zombies if they die...So I block their big creature with every cleric I have, and they kill it, then they all come back from the dead as a 2/2 Zombie. Beautiful.
Another source of damage for my opponet is the combo of Gempalm Polluter and Unholy Grotto. I cycle Gempalm Polluter, and I get to draw a card, but it also deals damage to target player equal to how many zombies I have in play...It hurst them like a mofo. Then I use Unholy Grotto to put Gempalm Polluter back on top of my library, and the process repeats itself. Beautiful.
Another one of my favorite Cards is Shepherd of Rot. If I can get my opponet's life down a little lower than mine...all I gotta do is use Shepherd of Rot's ability "deal damage to each player equal to the number of zombies you have in play". I have won MANY a game using this card. Beautiful.

Jeff your elf deck sucked you got beat by my deck all of the time unless i get a really really bad draw. Hmm lets see what i got in my deck.
23 forest
2 hickory woodlot
2 vernal bloom
2 rofellos, Llanowar emissary
4 ancestral mask
4 centaur glade
2 fog
2 respite
1 awakening
4 spedersilk armor
1 lure
1 venom
1 blanchwood armor
1 power matrix
1 rhox
1 silvos, rogue elemental
1 thorn elemental
1 carnassid
1 child of gaea
and thats about it for my green deck it works out quite well with the vernal blooms and the rofellos, Llanowar emissarys for mana go very well with my centaur glades to produce a few 3/3s a turn that eventualy turn into a massave army of 3/3s and it fells good to know that you can make about 10 or 20 of them a turn incase your army dies for some reason.

Here's My Favorite Deck I built it Myself. It uses almost all cards from the Invasions Block:
Creatures (20)
4 Shivan Zombie
4 Flametongue Kavu
4 Vicious Kavu
4 Ravenous Rats
4 Lava Zombie
Other Spells (20)
4 Terminate
4 Ostracize
4 Duress
4 Sinister Strength
2 Twisted Experiment
2 Ghitu Fire
Lands (20)
4 Urborg Volcano
5 Mountain
11 Swamp
The Idea of this deck is to get out a cheap-o creature Then blast out a Lava zombie, and by turn 4 you have a 7/4 creature using a Sinister strengh. It's possible by Turn 4 to have a 10/5. That's a little hard to handle at that point. It could be a good idea to take out the Kavu and adding Phyrexian Scuta! Whoa!
It doesn't sound as good as you might think, there are a lot of things to be changed but it's pretty good. I smacked down Vampyr's Zombie deck with it. Though that was on Apprentice so you know. 20 lands in a deck like this in real life almost gurantees like 4 by your 5th turn, but not on apprentice. Bleh.

Man, I dont even remember playing that deck on Apprentice. I remember playing against it at school though...And I think I managed to beat it once. (Using one of your other decks, lol)
But since you said that, I smell apprentice rematch.

I'd post my fourth turn win deck (mono blue with Phage additives), but I'd have to formulate a decklist.
