WOW
I've been playing a bunch of games lately...testing out the finest of this year's PS2 Game Library
Quick Impressions:
Tiger Woods 2004: Addictively fun. Great multiplayer game, made my create a golfer look EXACTLY like me.
SSX3: I loved SSX...and I think this game is about twice as good. Seriously, an all-around gem of a game. GOTY contender.
Jak 2: A new breed of platformer. Incredible graphics, interesting missions, tight controls. Good job Naughty Dog.
SOCOM 2: It's SOCOM, a game I loved, improved upon in every aspect. Tons of maps...replayability is through the roof. Haven't even touched single player...online play IS the game.
----and I got to play a little of Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, which was absolutely stunning...same with Prince of Persia. Both will be on my Christmas List ;)-----
Anyway...add your thoughts/comments/impressions here

Prince of Persia is amazing. It's ICO with a good battle system. Everyone must play through this game.
Jak2 is excellent, I enjoyed it tremendously.
Beyond Good & Evil is awesome, it's somewhat like the newer Zelda titles, and it's absolutely stunning to look at.
Castlevania is good fun, definitely a well transition into the 3D realm for the series.
Final Fantasy X-2 is surprisingly great. Loved the demo, getting it for Xmas.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but there's plenty more that I haven't played yet like Return of the King (which looks awesome). PS2 owners should have a merry Christmas indeed.

Jak2 is very good.
SOCOM2 is very good, but I cannot play online too often because my internet sucks the big one.
EA Sports 2004: sweet as hell, except NHL2004 truly sucks.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence = Ownage :P
SSX3: Every should own this game. If you don't like snowboarding, you will get into it after playing this. Every angle of the pentagon is here.. Great gameplay, kickass music, cool characters, awesome presentation, and a lasting appeal that will knock your socks off. Plus, it's online, to boot. Definitely a good one to have under the tree this year.
DDRMAX2 (US): All the previous fun of DDR wrapped into one. Perfect for parties.. and the added soundtracks and the music videos are awesome. =D It's just a bit more expensive than a normal costing game to buy the pad with it, but it's worth it. You'll lose weight if you play every day. I am.
FFX-2: This is going to be one that I'm probably getting for christmas. So far, I've heard tons of good things about the job system. And this game has hot pants. =D

AHHHHH!
Way too many good games. Way too many.
My PS2 List:
Suikdoden III
Castlevania Lamnet of Innocence
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
And thats not counting the games I want for the GCN, like Prince of Persia and MM : DD. Its going to be very hard eliminating this list down to 2 or three games that I will get for Christmas.

Meh, I rented it. It grew old in the couple of days O_o. I feel if you've played anything like Tony Hawk or any other "tricks and races" game, then this game isn't much new. However, I did enjoy its presentation for awhile. The ESPN2 sort of feel. That is... continual obsessive viewing/reporting. I'm not much a fan of the music though. That is, unless there's music genres I didn't hear while I played it.

I got Tony Hawk Underground and SSX3... SSX3 is at a whole new level. If you are used to THPS like I was it will take time to adjust, but it's a much better game in the end imo.
Right now My 2003 Ps2 line up is:
THUG
Madden 2004
NCAA Football 2004
NBA Live 2004
NCAA March Madness 2004
THUG is ok, better than THPS4, but the series is still losing that frest feeling. You already know what I think of Madden/NCAA. NBA Live beat out ESPN NBA this year, and March Madness is a great complement to it.
My 2004 Xbox Line:
Enter The Matrix
GTA:DP
WWE Raw 2
SSX3
I don't play Matrix anymore, but it was good while it lasted. GTA is a great remake... a little clean up f the graphics went a long way. Raw 2 is the best wrestling game made sense No Mercy imo... it's downfall is the bugs. SSX3 is pure gold, too bad I can't do jack on the third peak... game got a bt hard for me now.
you really like raw2? i thought it was one of the worst ever. IMO.
even the magazines rated it one of the worst i seen for wrestling games.

So don't buy every single game in the series.
Get like every second or third one. Works great for EA sports titles and the like. If you get every single game, you notice slight changes and improvements, but if you get every second or third one, the change is way more noticeable, and the game comes across as being way better.
And if you must play every single game in a series, just like... rent the ones you don't buy or something, to give them a little taste.
I bought Madden 2004, and the last Madden game I actually owned was 99. The differences I noticed were huge and it felt like the best football game ever. But I rented 2003, and the differences between 2003 and 2004 were not quite as apparent.
Just space the game purchases out.
(Plus, that way you end up with more money to spend on hookers and cocaine. Wooo.)

lol PE... you make good points. Especially with the Hookers and Drugs... ;)
I won't be buying the next THPS game, and I skip games with certain series' too. Like NBA Live and NBA 2k (or ESPN)... I rotate each year and it makes Live look much better each year I get it, and it makes NBA 2k feel much better because they both feel fresh. I ain't ever skipping on Madden or NCAA Football though. :D
Oh, and so people know, those games are the game that I currently own that came out in 2003... games that I purchased in 2003 but didn't come out this year aren't listed (Like Halo and MGS2), and games I purchased this year that were released this year that I took back aren't listed (Like all of my Gamecube games).
