Ok, so I have a new computer, I've worked out the kinks, things are going great...I'm ready to be a little adventurous. I want to take Linux for a spin.

I know there's Linux available for Macs (or Power PCs as Linux people seem to call them), but I don't really know where to find it or which flavor to use. I did find Yellow Dog which is a port of Red Had Linux. It sounded pretty nice. The only problem is it costs $20. Look, I want to try Linux, but I'm not so desperate that I'm going to spend cash on it (especially now that my spending money is earned by my own hard labor rather than wheedling from my parents).

So does anybody know where I can get some free Linux PPC? Some documentation to help a newbie around would be nice too.

Oh, and I heard there's a PC emulator for Linux that's pretty good. Anybody know anything about it?

P.S. I wonder if sdtPikachu is still around. He'd probably know the answers.

Well, you can download almost all distros of Linux from the internet if you have a fast enough connection. I just don't know if you can just download the iso images with a Mac or not... maybe Null will know.

If you can do that I'll give you the link to download Knoppix. It's really nice in your case because it boots off of the CD so you don't have to actually install anything.
