Has anyone checked out this game?
You can get the demo (It's like 220 megs) at:
http://www.eagames.com/official/nfs/underground/us/home.jsp
I just tried it out, and I must say it's pretty sweet. Graphics are nice, physics are more arcadey than say... Gran Turismo 3 or something, but still very nice and fun to play.
Methinks this might even be something worth getting a racing wheel for. Mmmmmm... Racing wheels.
Yeah, check that sh*t out.

wow.....just wow..... the speed engine is unlike i've ever seen before, it makes it seem like your actually going fast when its at say 90mph....while in other games it seems still slow.....and the detail looks great...too bad my comp won't run it :(

And I just tried out "Drag" mode and damn, is it ever nice. The sense of speed is very cool. It's just like the drag race scenes in the Fast and the Furious or something. Totally awsome. I swear, with more cars and stuff (the demo only has 1 car with a few diff. paint jobs) I could play "Drag" mode for hours by itself.
Wicked fun.

i don't like drag mode...cause it switches lanes for you once you press a direction, what i mean is you don't directly control your car, but if you press left for example, it'll change 1 lane to the left, and it will straiten the car out for you...so you dont have 100% control over it
havent tried the other mode yet...meh, try it later today...

Maybe they will have more options (or more control) for the final version happydude.......

Hmmm... yes. That does kind of suck. And the other (pedestrian) traffic in drag mode is always the exact same way, so as long as you just get around and ahead of the pack (with proper shifting and nitro usage), and then move into a certain lane at a certain time, winning is no problem (because the biggest problem in drag mode seems to be hitting stuff).
A damage model would also be nice, but if there was going to be one for the finished version, it probably would have been included in the demo.
The feeling of speed in this game is totally amazing though. Very nice and fast.

the demo is nothing compared to the full version...
the full version has so much more things, the only bad thing ( well sorta) is that there are only 20 cars in total, BUT you can make change them any way you want, there are like over 100 combos per car, so the chances of 2 same cars are slim to none
to sum it up, whoever likes racing games, GET THIS!

How does it compare to Burnout 2? :) I kinda like that game, one of the few racing games I can play.

Burnout 2 seems a little too focused on power slides or whatever, and NFSU is slightly less reliant on such. However, Burnout 2 has a hella-awsome damage model, whereas NFSU has none.
So basically, you should get both. As well as Midnight Club 2, which is also a very cool racing game.

Well I think the reason for undamage cars might have something to do with the manufacturers of the cars or something........ but I have played the game and it's awesome, I love the sense of speed that you get, especially in drag mode, we ran the game on my cousin's 27" T.V and it really felt like you were driving, I loved it. Can't wait till my cousin gets the full version. ( yeah I know I'm kinda late but better late than never)

Burnout 2 got a better score... at least the GC versions. :D
I basicly got Burnout 2 for free, I'd never have bought it myself.

But you didn't get it from me. :sneaky:
I "picked it up" last night and I must say, I'm very impressed. The graphics are very good and the gameplay is even better. Like some of you guys mentioned before, you get a real sense of speed when you're hitting top speeds and you're trying to lose the guy behind you in a drag race. Making cool cars (as the one seen above) adds even more to an already jam packed game.
For once, I like a Need for Speed game.

Come to think of it, its not THAT great. The customisation bit is a bit new. Its not that good as a racing game though, I meant there are better.
When you're racing and you crash into traffic, random walls ect, thats the race gone. And when you crash all you do is spin around for ages and your car is scratchless, your facing the other direction and you have to restart the race.
I like the game though.
