Well, I just got it tonight and so far I'm thinking its awesome. Granted, I've only played three levels and the two besides the first were on the Wedge side (which is mostly flight) but its still really neat.

The first level is Revenge of the Empire. Basically the Empire attacks Yavin IV after the Deat Star is destroyed. Its like the bonus mission in Rogue Leader, only you're with the Rebels this time.

This level was okay. This gives you a little of both flight and on-foot gameplay. The flight in this one was pretty boring. Think destroying the deflection towers in the Death Star level in RL.

The on-foot stuff is pretty bad, but not so bad as to detract from the game as much as some people are saying. Yeah, if they made a whole game of it, the game would blow. Tremendously. But its not so bad as just a part of it.

As I was trying to decide to go with Luke or Wedge, I listened to both their mission's profiles on the mission select screen. While I was listening to Luke's, it said you were protecting Tycho. Now, if you've never read the X-Wing books or comics, then the name won't mean anything to you. But I have and I thought this was neat. Rogue Squadron has had all of its pilots named at most points in books and comics but the previous games never used any of them that came from outside the movie.

But I didn't play Luke's level, I played Wedge's which takes place just outside Bakura, which was also neat. Bakura is the central planet in the novel The Truce at Bakura. I think this is the first time the planet has ever been anything that was actually visual. I kind of wish they had added some Sii-Ruuk (that's spelt wrong..) in there. That would have been neat. A little advance party....

Wedge's next mission takes place on Geonosis which is just neat. This is the kind of bridging between the Prequel and Classic eras that needs to happen more often. Not only is on and around Geonosis, but you fight battle droids and a Republic Gunship.

Best of all, you pilot a Jedi Starfighter. ^_^

You also have a battle with a couple of smaller capitol ships. They're not Star Destroyers but they're still pretty neat. The ships actually have shields that down after pounding them for a bit with those sonic grenades from Episode II (those are awesome!).

I'm very satisfied so far with this game. If you liked the previous RS games, there's no reason you will not love this one. Not that I've seen so far anyway.

So, those who have it, what do you think?

yeah, i definately like the game. my favorite part by far thus far is the asteroid field. the physics in that part of the asteroids blowing up is absolutely mind blowing, and the seismic charges, too cool. definately worth picking up!

I think that its a great game only I think they could of made the battle of hoth a bit longer, like giving you the chance to save the ion cannon are something like that? Still a great game altogether

Well, I've beaten all the normal missions, and unlocked and beaten a few of the secret missions.

Wedge's campaign is much better than Luke's. A lot more flying, a lot less running, and just plain more fun. Plus, with Wedge you get to fly the Jedi Starfighter and shoot the forward guns of an AT-AT. How cool is that?

Luke has some good levels, but not as good as Wedge's. My personal favorite of Luke's is his first level on Dantooine where you resuce Tycho. The speeder parts are just awesome.

Then there are two final levels that aren't assoiciated with either of Luke's or Wedge's campaigns. The first has you as Luke piloting a speeder bike in the forests of Endor. VERY fast. Very cool.

The second has you as Chewbacca in an AT-ST and then Han Solo on the ground. The AT-ST part is pretty neat, however Han's section is just stupid. Han's voice actor doesn't sound anything like him. Plus, they try to have some wierd final boss fight. Its stupid. You just run through the bunker and shoot while you do it. No challenge.

The extras level are pretty neat. One has you escaping the Death Star. This one's pretty good considering its a foot mission.

Another has you escaping Echo Base as Han. Its alright...

Then you've got the attack again the Executor, the Super Star Destroyer from Return of the Jedi. Its sweet. Kamikaze!

There's also an Endurance level, but I haven't unlocked it yet.

I have unlocked the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back arcade games. Star Wars is good of course, I have the demo disc though so nothing special. I'm not sure I like Empire...

I also got the documentary. Much better than Rogue Leader's. The audio commentary is about the same.

I've also unlocked Slave I but I have yet to use it. I hope they improved it from RL...

Factor 5 should have stuck to their strengths, which are creating great flight sim shooters. The third person action portion of this game RUINED the game for me. It was HORRIBLY done. I'm talking Terminator bad. You run around shooting with a camera that is never in the right place and the aiming is just off.

It completely ruined the game for me. Maybe I have no patience but I don't feel I should have to sit through such god awful gameplay to get to the good stuff.

I'll probably rent RSIII when I get the chance to. I've heard the flight missions are damn great, but the onfoot missions blow.

But as long as I can get through the on foot missions and back into the air, I'm happy:D

I don't think the on-foot missions were as bad as to ruin the whole game. They're not necessarily enjoyable, but they're not THAT bad...

If they made a whole game of just the on foot portion of the game, would you bother playing it for more than 10 minutes?

No, I wouldn't. But they didn't make a whole game out of the on-foot missions. The flights missions outnumber the foot missions and are good enough IMO to go through the foot missions to get to them.

Besides, the foot missions are a kind of mindless fun if you temporarily lower your IQ while playing them...

Just to state, I didn't personally say the onfoot missions suck, I was saying that from reviews I've seen, the onfoot missions suck.
