View Full Version : Viewtiful Joe Glitch?

This has happened two times now.

I'm fighting the Australian Shark/Robot hybrid boss (during level 3 and at the final fight at the end again) and he grabs me in his mouth and starts swinging back and forth and then he never lets go. He is still swinging Joe in his mouth right now as I type this and all I can do is pause the game. I just wondering if anyone else has experienced this strange phenomneon and maybe perhaps it's a glitch that Capcom overlooked?

Anyway, it's really frustrating because I have to fight all the bosses in sucession at the end and now I'll have to reset and do it over again.

I beat the game, and it never happened to me. Actually, now that you mention it, I never experience a single glitch, slow down, or anything else of that matter. I think they did an excellent job of making this game as bug free as possible.

You're supposed to wriggle free, man. :P

Yes, this is definitely a very well polished game. I did see one slowdown, but slowdown doesn't really matter.

Next time, read the instruction manual and learn the gameplay mechanics. Or just use some friggin' logic and try to do something and don't stare at the game doing nothing. ;)

I have found a serious glitch in Viewtiful Joe...

In The Magnificent 5 (for some reason, it doesn't work earlier), fighting Hulk Davison has a few glitches that pissed me off while switching VFX on-the-fly.

For one, if you Mach Speed Davison with Level 2 (not 3), sometimes the extra Joes can be hit by the fire missiles if you Slow Down on the first hit (I've confirmed that it was an extra Joe coming to the forefront, and not myself).

Also, when you use Zoom and slow together right after a ground-pound attack, the game speeds up instead (my guess is that this is just because the different subroutines get crossed when the enemy is changing direction, and Davison is VERY SLOW at turning around). At any rate, the Zoom ground pound starts off with 5 hits slow, then speeds up to ludicrous framerate skips, and if you add in zoom punches, they make it faster, even AFTER the Zoom dive hits stop.

The wierdest that I've found is that Hulk Davison can somehow get you "stuck" in between two attacks- namely the ground fire from missles, and a missed head butt into the wall:

Just this morning I was jumping on the top-left plaform to grab some reels to instantly regain my VFX, and I caught on fire. So I dropped down to the ground below, doing a combination of air dodge mixed with mach speed to get the fire off (which is what you should do when battling this guy to get Viewtiful speed points). As I was doing this, Davison just happened to be flying across the screen with his usual headbutt, and instead of catching me on the ground, he "pushed" me in midair with some of the flames still on me (a major collision detection error). Naturally I double-jumped too late, being caught-off guard, and before I knew it, Joe was "in" some of the left side of the wall, as normal Joe, still on fire-stuck in midair!!! I was there for maybe 30 seconds or so, until Hulk Davison finally managed to hit me with his axe again to take me out.

Nothing worked- I tried zooming in, slow, mach speed, and even random pounding on the D-pad and buttons, but Joe couldn't move until he was hit out of the air.

This happened once again in my next battle after dying, only it was much faster, and looked like a fire/axe combo (he threw it at me this time).

Anybody else see this ludicrous ish in VJ?

Not that it hampered the game; if anything, it made me study the game's combo system even more to figure out any "glitches" that may benifit me in the long run.;)

I just beat the Shark, it was hard. I've had this game for about 2 weeks now and I am on Episode 5.

Anyways, I remember in Episode 2 where you're supposed to get the 2 gems (one blue and one red) to open the door. Does anyone remember that part in the game?

Ok, so I got the red gem and put it in the door, but it was still locked since I needed the blue gem. I did a redhot kick on top of the door and I went through it. It didn't even show what bonuses I got. Now that's a glitch.
