Well, now that I'm short of cash and have been forced to resort to using this beige box PC (that doesn't belong to me, I might add), I am happy to say that iTunes for Windows has been released. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but if any of you are looking for a program to play and organize your digital music collection, iTunes is a great solution.

You can get it here: www.apple.com/itunes

-Edit-

Now that I've been using this for a bit, I'm really enjoying it. The sound, setup, and layout are really good and the visualizer is incredible (although lower resolution in full screen). All in all, I'm in love. But I'm a fanboy :D

And as if Apple wasn't good enough already, they also share their amazing products with the less fortunate. :)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the ipod version 2.1 update is out to go with the iTunes!!!

IT ADDS A NEW GAME!!! =D :D :D

and a freakin SWEET game at that. It tests how well you know your own music. More music you have, the better this game becomes.

IT plays a random song from your ipod. gives you like 5 choices, and a time limit. you pick the song its playing. as time goes by, it eliminates choices, and thereby getting less points.

man, i LOVE my ipod! :D

AM I going to have to appear cynical again and say that it's a complete hog? The things uses 20+ MB of RAM.

/me starts up XMMS and is pleased to see it take up 795K of memory

/me doesnt care about 20mb of ram anywho.

but this wouldnt be a program i use for casual playing anyway. i like one like winamp or xmms for that that i can minimaze into a very small bar in the corner of the screen.

this is more of a full sized program to use to sort music or put it on my ipod and things like that.

Yes... And it's quite... aesthetically pleasing... Idn't it... :retard:

Look, there are a lot of features that iTunes has that people are going to appreciate. Burning CD's (standard or MP3), iPod support, WAY better visualizations, an online music store, over 300 internet radio streams (add your own too), lots more...

XMMS also has features that iTunes doesn't have (I think :D). They are both targeting different markets. I'm part of the iTunes market.

Why do you need an iPod? It's an MP3 player/organizer for your PC. You don't need an iPod to get it. Unless you just don't think the features are worth the d/l unless you own an iPod.

Well, I downloaded, and I must say its pretty good...I do have a few complaints...it is kinda a RAM hog, and it runs a few garbage programs in the background that do absolutley nothing....but I like the visualizer...how do you switch your visilization? Because it seems to change every time I enter and exit the visualizer, and im sure there's a way to choose your visisiluation.

I can't download the program because I don't have Windows XP or 2000, so I have to base my opinion on Bond's screenshot:

First off... damn, that thing's massive! So inconvenient *shudders*. Only 24 songs and it takes up almost the whole screen giving useless information such as the genre, rating, and album. The thing itself looks pretty ugly too, in my opinion. Bland colors, ugly buttons, and a terribly basic yet massive time scroller.

The one good thing I see, however, is the radio (assuming I know what that means). If that radio function lets you listen to a whole bunch of online radio stations like Live365, then that's pretty cool. However, it'd be better if an option like that was added to the wonderfully compact and pleasing to the eye Winamp.

*shudders* Why is it so large?

No. There is no way to choose your visualization. Overlooked, apparently.. Sorry.

Looking muuuuuch better. After that it's just messing with the colors so that it's not so bland ¦¬Þ.

By the way, are the features pretty nice excluding visuals? Or is it basically Winamp that was Mac-ified?

Is there a way to burn a CD from the iPods list?

i had finally found a way to do that on MusicMatch, select the songs off my ipod i wanted and made a Music CD. (i have double the amount of songs on my iPod then i do on my PC now)

But i cant find a way on iTunes. is there?

GameMaster
10-18-2003, 08:03 PM
Yeah, you have to create a playlist, then it allows you to burn the playlist onto a CD.

but it wont let me take songs from my ipod and put them on a normal playlist. Anyplaylist i make from them only will go on an ipod play list. which then doesnt give me the option to burn them.

I think you need to put the iPod into hard drive mode so you can copy the songs off your iPod and onto your computer and then put those songs that are on your computer into an iTunes playlist.

Don't you have all the songs that are on your iPod on your computer also or did you delete all the songs from computer after you uploaded them to your iPod?

used to have a TON of songs on my computer. but my HD crashed, and they were only saved on my old mp3 player. like 10gigs of em. But that mp3 player you had NO WAY of getting the songs off of it onto the computer again, 1 way transfer. and i felt like returning it to buy an ipod with the money.

So i lost all thoes.

got about 600 back thro verious ways, i had a few hundred backed up on CD. others off old computer. but the rest i've gotten from my friends house, that MEGA CD collection they have over there i told you about. and he has an ipod, so i put thier CD's on my ipod.

Anywho. i know i can get them off and do it that way. but the ipod has abosulutly no way of sorting songs when you put them on there. theres like a thousand folders with 30 songs in each. just randomly put into differnt folders. its a pain to find a song you want. lol

so i guess i'll just use MusicMatch to burn CD's from ipod if iTunes cant do it. and use itunes for the others stuff

Is there like an install file that I can download?
Cause I need to put it on an USB-stick (128MB) and then put it on my other computer that doesn't have internet. Of course I could also put it on CD. :)
