My parents voted like 2 hours right before the election.

I just saw it on T.V.... Our new governor is a cyborg killing machine from the future, a secret CIA agent, Danny Devido's twin, and a Kindergarden Cop.... People, this is our new Governor.....

Not bad. :)

I'm angry. Arnold wants to take the movie industry away from Canada and he hates Canadians.

Good luck taking the movie industry from us. We're more cost efficient!

He'll just impose some kind of crazy tariff thing and it'll suck the film business right out of BC(mostly) and Ontario.

Ya, I heard it on the news. I have a feeling California is going to be a good laugh.

What're you talking about? How could the governor of California keep American films out of Canada? Or do you mean he would not allow Canadians to produce films in America (specifically California)?

He's trying to get American film makers to stop making films in Canada. He wants to keep it in America because he's a jerk. And he can't pronounce California.

Or have you considered the possibility that all the people who work in the movies but are losing their jobs to Canadians are putting pressure on Arnold to stop the loss of American jobs? Not that I agree with it, but take it from someone who has been studying political science for two years now: you don't do these things just because you want to be a jerk. There has to be something in it for you. I know Arnold is an inexperienced politician, but he has a lot of advisors who will tell him when an idea will just sound stupid. He has nothing to gain from keeping filmmaking in California. At least he wouldn't have anything to gain unless some of the people who gathered votes for him are making him promise to do it.

Ah. You are very wise. But you must also realize that if the took the film industry away from us a lot of Canadians would lose jobs. My dad is one. And I am another. I'm an aspiring director.

If they took away film from Canada, I'd have to move to Europe to get a job.

I want to see how well Arnold can handle the 5th largest economy in the world. If he can somehow pull CA out of its slump, more power to him, but if he can't, I can see Californians demanding yet another recall.

But I really hope people in California will get their head's out of their asses and stick to one person. Maybe the budget problem is the people's fault. Who knows. But since Californian's have a short fuse, they will demand anything.

Away from canada? you took it from us! (hollywood). Just cause its cheaper. Well, your not gettin nun of my movies! :guitar:

Im glad hes governor. If you lived in california, and werent a devoted democrat, you would probably feel the same way.

Im not really a democrat or republican. Though I dislike liberals, so I lean more towards democrats. Though Davis was a conservative.

I'm economically conservative and socially liberal. :D

Once again... what're you talking about?!

Are you saying that American film makers should make their films in Canada so that Canadians can get jobs? That is... rather than Americans making them in their own borders so that more Americans have jobs?

It makes me laugh if your dad would lose a job just if Americans were to pull out of Canada. Where's the self-production? You don't need to ride the coat of an American O_o. Don't Canadians make their own "Canadian" films? Or are other countries like the US and Europe the only places for film?

Once again, I find it pathetic if Arnold's influence on the movie industry could injure Canada's economy.

Dylflon
10-08-2003, 09:12 PM
Yeah. Americans make a lot of movies and tv shows. And they make them here because it costs less. The film industry is onje of the biggest industries in BC if not THE biggest.

Booo arnold booo.

Arnold is going to do what is in the best interest of his state and his country. If that means pulling American movie production out of Canada then that is what he will do. Any other country would do the same.

Though I doubt Arnold is even able to do that, I just wanted to make that statement. :)

Ah yes. But you aren't one of his constituents. You can't vote for his opponent. In fact, there isn't much you can do in general to get him thrown out of office. So in the end, whether you like it or not, he's going to choose California over Canada every time.

It's hard, but don't blame Arnold.

Canadian film industry is screwed.. or is it?

I mean, what would lure American production company's away from Canadian soil and back to American soil? American money does wonders in Canada and other parts of the world...

How will Arnold be able to bring them back when it's all about the money? Can he offer like tax deductables or something?

Dylflon

My main problem with Arnold is that he seems to spend more time quoting his movies than he does discussing important political issues.
