Chapter 1: Meetings

Twelve men sit around a large oak table in a meeting room on one of the higher floors of the Ketsumi Trade Building.

A man in a military officer’s uniform, decorated with many medals, stands up and begins to speak.

“Greetings gentlemen. As you are all aware, last night five of our government buildings were attacked by the terrorist organization calling themselves “ABRA”, or the Anti-Battle Royale Alliance. Eight thousand people were killed in the bombings. The terrorist group used a pirate signal and transmitted a video all over the nation demanding that the BR program to be terminated. The person on the video is DarkMaster, the boy who won Battle Royale three years ago. So we’ll give in to their demands and terminate the BR program.”

The whole room erupts in a giant argument.

“Quiet down everyone! I’ll give the floor to Kitano and he’ll explain the situation to you better than I have.”

A man in a blue sweater stands up.

“Hello everyone. Although we are terminating the BR program we are instating a new program simply called the BR2 program. We have already selected a new forum; one that has many members who have lost friends and family in the terrorist attacks. Rather than fighting each other, they will work together as a unit to attack the island stronghold where ABRA operates. We tracked their location through their pirated broadcast.”

A man in a business suit stands up and yells, “Why not send our Anti-Terrorist unit?”

“Because,” Kitano replies, “we can’t let up the BR program. We can’t let the people of this country believe we’ll cave to terrorist threats. The plan goes through.”

Atomus, a member of the online forum “The Other Side”, walks up to the bus depot. Other Side is an online community made of a real life community; the members all live in the same area and most go to the same school. Unfortunately, the area they live in is the same area of ABRA’s terrorist attacks nearly one year ago. Six members lost family in the attacks. In their anger, they formed the user group “The Shubultz Cuts.” The mission of The Shubultz Cuts is to get even with ABRA in anyway they can.

Atomus sighs as he remembers the sad events of the past year. But he almost instantly forgets them when he remembers the reason why he’s walking to the bus depot: The Other Side is holding a ski trip.

Atomus is greeted by some friends of his once he reaches the depot. Everyone is generally excited about the trip. As he talks to his friends, Atomus notices a girl standing by herself.

Atomus asks, “Who’s she?”

“She’s a new member.” Vash replies. “I heard she just moved into the area.”

The bus comes and everybody piles on. The members turn on their Game Boys in preparation for the long trip ahead. The last thing Atomus remembers is talking with his closer friends Ultima, Xander and Vega.

Atomus awakens to find everyone on the bus passed out. He looks around curiously. The bus driver is wearing a gas mask! But there’s another person on the bus now too. A big man wearing a gas mask approaches Atomus, pulls out a baton and hits him on the head with it, knocking him unconscious.

The members wakes up in a large steel room. They are no longer wearing the clothes they came in. Instead, they are now wearing camouflage army fatigues. As they begin to fully awaken, the members begin to panic. Everyone begins to notice the collars that are now around their necks. A large steel door swings open and soldiers carrying assault rifles pour into the room. Following them is s Japanese man in a blue sweater.

“Hello everyone. I am Kitano,” the Japanese man says. “You are all lucky enough to participate in Battle Royale!”

After hearing the words Battle Royale, all the members of the forum continue to panic. They don’t want to have to kill their friends.

“But this is no ordinary Battle Royale. No, this one is much different. You will be working as a unit to attack ABRA at their island stronghold.”

The forum members’ level of panic doesn’t decrease any. People start to yell and swear at the man in the blue sweater.

“We have no time for questions. I will give you a brief explanation of what you are going to do. You will take six high-speed attack rafts and land ashore the island. You will be armed with FAMAS Type 3 rifles, body armor and helmets. You will be supplied with 200 rounds of ammunition each. You will also get head sets and radios with which to communicate with each other.”

Atomus is furious and yells out to his friends, “We don’t have to listen to him! We have a choice!”

“Actually, it’s rather the opposite. See that line on the ground?”

Kitano points to a line made with masking tape on the floor. “If you choose to cooperate, cross that line. If you’d rather die right now, don’t cross it.”

All the forum members but one cross the line. The only one who hasn’t crossed the line is a member named Watari.

Watari starts to shout, “This is bull****. They can’t make us kill. Don’t listen to them! We can’t just stand by and let them take our lives away from us!”

Kitano picks up a pistol from the table beside him and shoots Watari in the leg. Watari falls to the ground screaming. All of the other forum members get scared and back away from Watari.

“Have you changed your mind yet?” Kitano asks.

Watari grits his teeth and glares at Kitano. Kitano fires the pistol again, lodging a bullet into Watari’s skull. Another member named Item dashes and grabs a knife from the table.
He stands close to Kitano and demands everyone be let go.

“Not wise,” Kitano says. He pulls out a handheld computer from his pocket and pushes a button, causing Item’s collar to beep and flash. Item starts to panic, running to his friends for help. The others push him away and try to get as far away from him as possible. The collar explodes and severs every vein and artery in Item’s throat. He falls to the ground. A pool of blood begins to form.

Kitano looks at the rest of the group and smiles. “I trust there won’t be anymore objections.”

I'm glad to see that the increased quality didn't stop with the prologue. Not perfect, but good.

Well I wouldn't worry about that, because if you had been in this chapter it would have most likely been because you were revolting against the battle royale people just like Watari and Item....which would mean you'd be dead too. So I guess you'll just have to be patient.

Dylflon, if your going to borrow that much from BR2 you might as well also add the collars that link together.

Good job.

Loosley based. And I don't want to use the likning collars for the purpose of making it seem like the movie. I'm just using the premise. Foo. I do use the weapons though. Because...well. I thought it would be better than making them up. But I'd rather not use a lot of what I saw in BR2.

Notice the absnece of Riki Takeguchi (or however thats spelled)

The stuff I borrowed is only stuff from what I saw in the trailer. Which I've watched about 20 times.
