Yes, and the unfortunate thing was I was stuck on that for like 6 months before I got money for graduation then I upgraded most things and I got lucky that my dad gave me his "old case and 1 ghz athlon processor" . So im more then content with what I have ;)

I'm running
Athlon 1.4 tbird
512 mb ddr
64 mb ddr radeon 7000
asus mobo
40gb hd
other odds and ends
I am still very satisfied with this setup. Don't really feel a need to upgrade to a faster processor yet as this runs just fine.

my p.o.s
4 gig hard drive
32 megs of ram
jonbos old processor
on board video
crappy mobo
Ive had it since 96 but im too much of a console gamer to upgrade (I have all three systems and Im too cheap to buy a new computer) =-D
I've got a P3 laptop with 789 or so MHz of juice. 20 gig hard drive, 256 mb of RAM, and it runs on XP. About 4 years ago, it went for $4000... my Dad was a sucker and bought it. It was AWESOME then. It's.... meh now. And it's broken right now.. the power button got disconnected or something. Bleh.

P4 2.66ghz
512Mb's DDRAM
80Gig HD
Saphire ATI Radeon 9500PRO
You have no Idea how good it feels to have a better computer than everyone else. After suffering on that old AMD K62 400mhz I had just a few months ago.

My old computer:
450 mhz
32 MB RAM
4.01 GB Hard Drive
ATI Rage Pro 8MB
... now THAT is crappy.
The one I just got yesterday:
2.4 ghz
256 MB RAM
40 GB Hard Drive
Integrated Intel® Extreme 3D Graphics
I don't know much about Intel's Integrated graphics, but I will probably put in an ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB or something (if I decide to keep this PC).

until you get your new crappy pic vid card or untill you get a good AGP one?

My graphics card is better...Since we have similar Processors, Im going to have to ask you a few things about overclocking...how risky is it? Does it overheat the processor or anything like that? My system does have 3 fans, 2 side and 1 back, if that means anything...

9500pro is a DX8 card also isnt it? i dont think its a DX9, so they're pretty much about the same level there.
im not the best at overclocking. theres websites that list processors and how good they are to overclock. it also depends on your motherboard,
some like mine just have a simple little option in the bios of what speed you want the processor to run at.
P4's are 'usually' from what i hear better to overclock the the AMD's the AMD's run hotter to begin with. Not sure about AMD's but from what i hear P4's will autmaticall lower themselves when they get warmer, or shut themselves down if they get too hot. Keeps them from overheating or burning up.
I personally have 4 case fans, (then the processor fan and the GFX card fan), but i soddered them all to a switch panel on the front of the computer that i made. so i only turn on that fans i want. i usually have one fan sucking air in frrom the front or top. and the other blow it out.
I mean there are risks. and its not really needed when you already have a 2.66. I did it out a curiosity really. and will prolly lower it back down so i can feel better about shutting down another fan. really its so later on I'll know how when i actually do need the upgrade in speed.
I'll have to look up the websites again that talk about it

Im not sure, but I was thinking along the lines of benchmarks. 9500pro outperforms Geforce 4 ti4200, im quite sure of that....
eh, many things affect that tho. different drivers for one. each new set of drivers, they perform differently. Then CPU effects more then that. Ahead or behind, they're in the same area as each other in terms of effects

Umm.. I'm going to get an agp one I want the ATI 9800 pro with 256 mb ram.. But, for the time being my supervisor is going to sell me a 8500 pro for $40 so I'll settle without the pci at all and just go straight to agp

My amd chipset and MB had a heat sensor built in so if it starts getting to hot it lowers processing functions.. or something like that. but do you know how to overclock the AMD chipsets too ?

Just get the 9800 pro 128, you're really not getting much for that extra 100$ or however much it is.

I forgot to mention my current specs.
Gigabyte GA-7VAX Mobo
Athlon 1.0 Ghz
256 MB DDR Ram
6 Gig HD
Some POS video card. Its only 4 megs :Puke: But at least it can run Red Alert 2 at a good rate.
A few things came from my old comps. (video card and HD)
On the subject of overclocking. My mobo came with overclocking software that allows me to do it directly through Windows. (But I can still do it from Bios if I need to for some reason). And the mobo has an auto-shutoff if I go too high and I tried to OC it to see how much I could go to before it shut off and I think I oc'ed to 1.15 then it shut off. So I keep it at whatever rate I feel like. Name of the software I use/got is EasyTune 4 if anyone feels like trying it or whatever:p

566 Mhz Celeron

32 Meg ATI Radeon PCI
19 gig HDD
