Soul Calibur II sales data thus far:

GameCube: 245,000 units sold in the US
Xbox: 205,000 units sold in the US
PS2: 200,000 units sold in the US

Looks like Link is kicking both Spawn and Heihachi's butts, which is always good news.

It's a little surprising that XBox is outselling the PS2 versions. Given that GameCube has been dubbed as the worst console for fighting games (rather unfairly) these sales are music to my ears. It's also maybe a reminder of just how powerful cool exclusive characters can be...

here are japans sales numbers (old ones at that!) I'm pretty sure nintendo is winning currently.

PS2 - 120,000
GC - 100,000
Xbox- 35,000*
(These are approximate figures)

the irony of it all. However people a joystick is MUCH better than a pad. I will be buying one for my GC soon.

It's good to see that all it takes is a well known character and hype that lives up to what people claimed (about SCII) to sell good on the 'Cube. I wonder how long term sales will pan out...:hmm:

But it still doesn't explain why PS2's sales are that low... lower than Xbox... I would say it's because Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution was recently released on PS2, and that's supposed to be just as good, if not better than SC2... But we all know how poorly Sega's games have been selling... :sneaky:

i've seen a lot of the spawn ones, but ya know, i haven't seen any ps2 ones... wow, advertising does help (**elbows nintendo**)

Actually i seen the most PS2 and GC ones. quite a few of them. one commerical break have GC one, next would be PS2. only saw the Xbox commercial once.

Im glad to see that Nintendo is having success with that game, i only hope that they can boost hardware sales as well. I bought the game, and lots of people i know bought it, its great.

I bought F-Zero GX the same day SCII came out...so there must've been other good games that are worth buying.

But remember also, only 1 other fighting (if you want to consider this a fighting game) game for the 'Cube, which is Smash Bros. Melee. SCII is the 'Cube's best true fighting game, so it makes sense to at least sell good.:p

F zero woulda been SO much better had they tried to put more new and more innovative stuff in it. it feels like just more of the same. (fun tho) just not new.

Maybe the Cube one just sold better due to the pre-game hype, I mean if I'm not mistaken Nintendo started advertising some 2-3 weeks before the first Ps2 or Xbox commercials even started airing. And ofcourse with the words "Exclusively for the Nintendo Gamecube", but of course there was that Link part, but eh.

Let's see if it lasts...

It isn't that there's nothing else worth buying it's that there's nothing else that anyone wants to buy. It's also that there are no other fighers worth buying. 45,000 units is hardly "beating up" especially when the game will end up being a million seller.

I'm also pretty sure that cube europe was the first site to break with those numbers so take it all with a grain of salt.

It's certianly good for nintendo that the game is selling well but don't get too excited about trumping sony. It will eventually take the lead just based on the fact that it holds a 5 to 1 edge in systems floating around out there.

Yeah, I like everything about the game. But a track editor would be nice. Im not complaining though.

Personally I plan on getting Wrestlmania XIX, P.N.03, and I already have F-Zero GX and Madden/NCAA Football 2004, so there's other games out there to buy for the GCN, Game. But then again, I bought SCII four months ago, so eh...;)

The Link over Sony/Xbox sales don't surprise me, and the GCN version is pretty close to the PS2 version in Japan, so I hear.

All three versions are sure to be system sellers globally, though I'm not too sure about the PS2 version in the US (too much competition, and pretty much the worst version of the game).
