Well, I finally heard back from Lionhead Studios! And they will give me the position of games tester for a fortnight! Right now I'm really rather chuffed with myself for gaining the position, especialy as it'll be applicable as my work experience posting, which is rather good all considered.

Anyways, have any of you had similar experiences with developers, i.e, being able to work on major projects?

Have a look on developers or publishers websites, TheGame, as positions are occasionaly advertised on them. Some codeshops however only have permenant staff, meaning any short term work is out of the question. However, developers such as Lionhead prefer work experience students, such as myself, as we're free labour, although Lionhead actually don't pay any part-time games testers, plus you have to sign a legally binding confidentiality agreement, which goes with the territory I suppose. Mind you, I get a snazzy certifcate at the end of it, and I might, just might get my name onto the credits of a future Lionhead title.

So does this mean you'll maybe get to try out Fable, B.C., and dare I say it Dimitri!?

I think you should leak this forum an early build of Black&White 2.

I'll be your friend.

If I were to get into gaming development... which major would I have to chose?

Right now I currently have no major and I'm interested.

If you are the top of your class in Computer Science, you can hold the industry in the palm of your hand. :p You just need luck to become a game tester.. and some game knowledge.

Acebot44, I might well be testing Fable, BC and Dimitri but I'll be working there in the spring or summer of 2004, so god knows what I'll be doing, but as I have to sign the confidentiality agreement, you probably won't hear or see what I'm working on untill E3 2004.

Oh, and thanks to all of you for your kind words. Who knows what I might see? =-D
