Is it just me or is anyone else not satisfied with the GameCube so far? I mean, there's got to be a reason why they are third overall in the sales, and why Sega Sports' football game won't be released on it. Just look at it's library and compare it to everyone else's. No comparison. And before anyone says, more quality games are on GC, I say there's not that much variety. The more you put out, the more likely you are to get something different.
But a major thing to me was when they were about to come out. They actually had many(!) believeing that there would be no delays. Anyone else remember that? That's like minimum-wage salary parents promising their 4 children that they'll go to Disneyland every year. It is just impossible. People's ideas change, and corrections of major projects almost always come at the end.
But the biggest thing to me is that Zelda thing. All this time later, I still can't get over it. They came out with something so jaw-dropping. Then they shocked the world with that Spaceworld unveiling. WTF was that? I still remember some saying that this was the original vision, try it out first. Pure Crap. I'm sure this why they are where they are now and make most of their money from the Gameboy. The customer is always right. I mean, if that's the way it was going to be, fine. But don't get everyone's hopes up just to destroy them. It may be his vision, but it is the gamer's money. And that is the point of business, isn't it? To make money.
It's just a shame to me that is eavch successive generation Nintendo, which once was the game industry, gets less and less important.

GCN is the biggest dissapointment of the three... it fell far short of my expectations. While Ps2 and Xbox (especialy Xbox) did far greater than my expectations.

The Wind Waker sucks major ass. It's actually one of my worst buys for the Cube. Totally no atmosphere, the story isn't told well enough, the L-triggering sucks, the sea is soooo boring and the puzzles are SO unlogical. "Take a picture of the most frightened person on the island." Bull****, I've tried almost everybody. (please don't spoil it... I'll it find out within a few years)
Hm Nintendo relies on its great characters, but then they have to make good games with them. So far, Metroid is the only game that lives up to the expectations. But it's just such a different style... it didn't sell.

I'm enjoying my GC ten times more than my PS2 and I won't buy an X-Box because there isn't anything that interests me at all. Games in general are becomming a lot less fun than they used to be, and it's not because I'm changing. I still love tons of NES and SNES games, N64 too. But there's only a handful of very entertaining games on all three nex gen systems. Gamecube happens to have most of them and GC gets 80-90% of playtime between my PS2 and GC.

Well, you are entitled to an opinion, yet some of things you said are false.
Dissapointing, yes, but not the most dissapointing..... Well, actually it would be the most dissapointing, for i didnt expect much from Xbox, so it being 3rd still in my list is no surprise. But, aside from Wind Waker, and Metroid, I really havnt played much of Cube at all.
My biggest surprise would be how much i ended up loving PS2, I didn't like it when it first came out, but the amount of great games it has it has become my favorite console by far.
Also, this is the console generation that PC has finally become #1 on my list over Console games. And I don't see that changing anymore.
I'll prolly end up getting PS3, and not bother with any other Console.
As far as GameCube goes, Yes, dissapointment would be a great word to describe how i feel. But then again, i really only bought it for Zelda anyway. ;)

I gotta agree there...
1) I expected Ps2 to be crap... on paper it was crap, and it had every reason to fail. From price, to power, to development diffuculty. IMO, it still walked out with the best game library
2) I can't say Xbox is worse than I expected because um, I expected Atari Jaguar part II. Xbox far passesd my expectations
3) Cube came into this generation with the most potential IMO, and walked out with nothing. They have no excuse for thier preformance right now.
Also, as far as Cube and Xbox goes head up... take Ps2 out as a factor and Xbox is better by far. Online Play, Sega Sports 2k4, and MGS2 would kinda be exclusive if it wasn't for Ps2. Cube is good but lacks variety. Cube definently has more killer apps (IMO) but I wouldn't buy it as a stand-alone system because I love my Racing, Sports, and fighting games.
True, But i tend to hate most Fighting games, (but am having fun with SC2), only racing game i like is the GT series. and for sports i HIGHLY prefer EA Sports on PC.
The Exclusive games are the only reason i play Console games now. which are the Zelda games, Gran Turismo's and ones like that...
Which is kinda why i didnt go for Xbox, the 'exclusives' that i liked, ended up having or are getting better versions on PC. Like, Halo; Great game, but i'd be getting it for Multiplayer, and the PC multiplayer online might very well rival Halo 2's multiplayer.
I was interested in Knights of the old Republic, from what i hear its the same game on PC, but it will be slightly more polished. (and as all games. there will be downloads for it)
Nothing to do with xbox really tho. for if They made a PC version of Zelda, i'd throw my GC out the window.
But yea. Next nintendo console will have to really impress me, and kick some ass the way PS2 is doing for me to eventually buy one. I dont plan on buying it anytime in its early release whenever that may be.

I agree (With the Pc part mostly).
My Pc has been played more than my consoles.
I also agree the GC was the most disappointing, because my expecations of the Xbox were basically low.
Doesn't mean I like Xbox better than Gc. I haven't touched my Xbox.
So to answer the question I'm most disappointed with the GC, but the Xbox is my least favourite console this gen.
And I disagree with The Game. I expected XBox to be crap, Ps2 to sell (it had so many 3rd party games behind it) and the GC was the wild card.
I didn't expect Ps2 to fail at all, but Ps2 overall is my fave console for it's variety, Gc for it's killer apps (and new games like Eternal Darkness/Metroid) and Xbox for ...........Halo

I expected Ps2 to fail because of all the Nintendo fanboy propaganda. Plus the fact that no system in history that was hard to develop for won in thier generation. Ps2's launch was widely criticized too, both japanese and US.
As for Null... I think PC's better version doesn't make up for the 2 year head start of the Xbox version. It's almost like Sonic DX vs Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast.
But some of the points you were argueing were after this:
"Also, as far as Cube and Xbox goes head up... take Ps2 out as a factor and Xbox is better by far. Online Play, Sega Sports 2k4, and MGS2 would kinda be exclusive if it wasn't for Ps2. Cube is good but lacks variety. Cube definently has more killer apps (IMO) but I wouldn't buy it as a stand-alone system because I love my Racing, Sports, and fighting games."
When I say head up, I mean factor Ps2 and PC out, if you had to get ONE of the two and just stick with ONE, which one do feel is the better buy?
I think that Cube has more killer apps... but it's stil not good enough all around to match Xbox, for my tastes at least. Plus right now I wold be dying to play an online game... somthing Cube doesn't offer.
Cube is a better support system for Ps2, I mean, just an Xbox and Ps2 doesn't mix very well. But stand alone? Cube is garbage, that's why I think it's sales stink so bad.
yea, if Xbox and Cube were the only 2 game consoles in existance, i'd still go with cube. As i said, the exclusives mean more to me then the other games. Even tho Nintendo is screwing up in many area's (not going online being a major one) thier exclusives are still good.
Xbox is still around. that in itself is more then i expected. (altho i cant say i personally see why). And cube i expected not to beat Sony out, but to close the gap a bit.... And it looks like they instead made the gap further apart.
As for the PC having the better version not making up for it being late. Thats true, but as i said. While Halo is very easily the best Console FPS, Its not going to be anywhere near the best PC FPS, PC Users are in no rush or worry to get it. I'ts just like one drop of water in the sea of FPS's

I dunno... I just don't think you like Xbox period ;)
Xbox has just as many if not more exclusive games than GCN, if they are better or not is up to you. Plus Cube doesn't have an exclusive FPS, and Sega sports would be considerd MS exclusive head up right? Same with MGS2... and online play would be exclusive. (must I repeat myself so many times?)
But anyway... the list of games I would buy for Xbox if it was the only system I owned would be far bigger than Cube's, and far better IMO. I couldn't imagine owning just a cube right now... and even worse, owning just a GCN for this whole generation, I would be going insane. Not to say I wouldn't go insane with Xbox, but I would have a hell of a lot more games I like in genres I like.
Lets say I owned a Cube and an Xbox... for non-exclusive games I wouldn't want the Cube version unless it were cheaper! Cube pretty much never gets a better versiopn of a third party game than Xbox.
I could imagine living with a N64 last generation alone being better than having a cube alone this Gen.
But I'm just walking on the surface of what issues GCN has... for me at least. Cube may or may not be #3 in sales, but imo it's #3 in quality and shelf life... and by far the biggest dissapointment.
As for the PC having the better version not making up for it being late. Thats true, but as i said. While Halo is very easily the best Console FPS, Its not going to be anywhere near the best PC FPS, PC Users are in no rush or worry to get it. I'ts just like one drop of water in the sea of FPS's
How much you wanna bet it's gonna be one of the better selling PC FPSs? ;)
I dunno... I just don't think you like Xbox period ;)
I don't, Theres no reason for me to, im not saying you or others shouldnt like it. But for me personally theres no reason for me to like it. It has nothing i want.
But, no exclusives that i want. As i already said. the only reason for buying the GC, one exclusive game..... Zelda.
Cube doesnt need an exclusive FPS IMO, I hate all Console FPS's. Controls suck. Now if i didnt have a PC, and never played PC FPS's i may not know what i would be missing and perhaps then i'd like the controls, but hard for me to imagine such so i just dont like console FPS games.
Sega sports? i couldnt care less about, IMO EA Sports is better.
online play? once again IMO... Online play for consoles right now is a joke. I expect next gen consoles will iron out many issues but for now. theres absolutly no must have for online play. have to wait and see for GT4 because i've never really played a online racer before.
I agree, if i only had a choice of the 2 i would go insane. but my choice would still be GC.
Lets say I owned a Cube and an Xbox... for non-exclusive games I wouldn't want the Cube version unless it were cheaper! Cube pretty much never gets a better versiopn of a third party game than Xbox.
i find majority of 3rd party games are same on each. but your right. if they tried to optimize them more then likely cube would get the lesser.
How much you wanna bet it's gonna be one of the better selling PC FPSs? ;)
Ah, you see... one of the better, yes, agreed. I never said it wouldnt be a decent good game. Because it will be, Updated graphics. bug fixes, and same Single player. Plus, a majorly redone and beefed up Online Mulitplayer. And there are many who are looking foward and waiting for it. There are many Xbox owners that have it and are droolling and waiting for that online verion for PC.
The point i was saying, is that there are just so damn many FPS on PC, it doesnt stand out as much as it did on consoles. It is not the easy King of FPS. It will not go straight to number 1. it'll be up in the top 25 FPS's or so.
It woulda done much better had they got it out much earlier. This 4th quarter that its comeing out, gives it much competition and some that greatly overshadow it. Half-Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Theres even great things being said about the new one, Breed. Comparing it greatly to halo. Plus many others, coming out all in the same 4 month period.
On consoles. Halo stands out like a sore thumb and towers above the rest. On PC, It will stand out with many sore thumbs.
But it will be a great game, im not tryin to take anything away from it.

As for MGS... it isn't out yet... I never said GCN can't make a turn-around ;)
But looking at the line-ups released to this point, I prefer Xbox
Nintendo should have advertised Metroid Prime better... the killer app that nobody knows about. :p
I think Metriod Prime is boring... I got it for free and took it back for store credit. It's presentation and starting story is weak, and I think that reflected on the sales a lot. Hey, it may be a good game, but it never pulled me in. I think it was advertized just fine... somthing made me pick it over Mario Party and Star Fox Adventures, and I regret that.
As for everybody else
Animal Crossing was good to me because I didn't expect crap from it... but um, seeing it win Awards and be nominated for GOTY is just shocking. It simply wasn't that good. I can see how anybody would be dissapointed by it now with all the hype it's getting.

I'm very dissapointed with NGC too... Though I thought Wind Waker was a great game, and Metroid was also good... the RE games... but beyond that, not much else, IMO... And RE0 was only a rental for me...
Only upcoming game for NGC I'm looking forward to: MGS: TS and RE4...
I'm enjoying NGC less than N64... Nintendo continue's the downward trend... :shakehead
If they don't get their act together and PSP succeeds, I wonder what will happen to Nintendo... hmm *rubs chin*
Personally it'd be better for me if they just went third party... I'm not big on handhelds and I buy their systems mainly for their games... I don't like handhelds either, too far behind in technology
I like the cube cuz it has the games I like. I don't buy many games so the number of exclusives the cube has is just right for me.
Kind of miffed about the online thing. I gave my support to nintendo and they spit it back at me for their profit.

Animal Crossing isn't a new concept. It's a little Sims.
But remember Bond, Animal Crossing was originally a '64 game (in Japan). So I'm pretty sure it came out before The Sims.;)
And on the subject of the 'Cube.
I've been satisfied with my 'Cube. I've had it since day 1 and I don't regret purchasing it. I liked Metroid Prime because it was an FPS/FPA and thats one genre I love. Wind Waker was great to me also because its a Zelda game and (almost) any game with Zelda in the title is good, IMO. People just complain because they think Nintendo's quality has gone downhill. I for one don't think that.
People will always find something wrong with a Nintendo game. They either complain X game is too "different" from its previous ones, or if X game is too similar to the past one's, people complain its not different. All I have to say is "shut up and make up your mind".
Nintendo should get more aggressive with their next console/handheld. They have been a little too passive (or whatever word I'm trying to think of). Since Sony and MS feel that they want to cram 50 things into a box, Nintendo should advertise heavily how its a dumb idea and its only costing more to the consumer to get things you either don't use or will sparingly use. Then heavily advertise how all gamers want to do is "PLAY GAMES". But alas, it probably won't help because people are brainwashed into thinking they need 50 useless things, and not just the core of what a product is supposed to do.....play games.
[end rant]

Zelda/Mario Sunshine/ED/Mario Kart/Mario Tennis/Metroid Prime/CVS2/Soul Calibur 2/P.N.03/Viewful Joe/ FF: CC/ AC/RE are enough reason for me to be happy with my GC. Even though Ihaven't played some, I'm eagerly anticipating them.
