My brother picked it up today, we split the money, and its everything ive heard and then some. Ive only played the first circuit in the Grand Prix, but DAMN...this is the fastest game ever, bar none. The only complaint I have so far is that it dosent look like you can have multipule users on the same memory card, which is kind of a problem when you have 2 or more people playing the game. But we do have 2 memory cards so there are ways around such things. Anybody else picked this gem up yet?

I haven't.
I haven't.
Getting a game is only exciting if you own before it's released or exists.
For example, I have Soul Calibur 3 and Mario Kart: Double Dash.
And I've beat them both on hard mode.
Now that's exciting.

My friend rented F-zero, and it is a sweet game, really fast and lots of cool stuff to do with the custom car thing. It is REALLY hard though, i mean, on story mode, for the third level my friend and i tried about (no joke) 40 times, before we managed to beat it. Now we are on the 4th level and having trouble, but its alot of fun, just challenging.

Right when I clicked on this topic I saw the commercial for the game.
One question for whoever has played the game...
Can you play 2 players cooperative on Story Mode?

No.
After playing more, Ive realised just how hard this game truly is. It's fairly easy to fall off some of the later courses, which makes you lose instantly. Your going to have to know these courses by heart to master them. Im so glad Nintendo-Sega hasnt pussified this game like others.

One more question. So far, what do you think of the soundtrack of the game?

Music isn't as good as previous F-Zero music.
And I don't think it's as hard as everyone is saying... I don't really see why people are having such problems on story mode. Chapter 1 and 2 are really easy, chapter 3 is kinda tough but I beat it in a few tries. Chapter 4 and 5 weren't hard either and I haven't tried 6 yet. The GP mode is gets hard on the third cup on the harder difficulties, I wonder how the AX Cup is like.

Its techno crap...Not like the music matters much in a racer. I just beat the third cup on novice, now on to intermediate...and ive played through chapter 2 in story mode...I havent had much time to play it yet.
I got my grubby hands on it today.. and wow, it's really, really fast. It was so fast I felt like I was going to throw up five hours in. It's just SICK.
I love it.
The music, on my set, sounded really good. If you don't play the game with a subwoofer or a high definition set, you're really missing out.

You have no idea how much this game is pissing me off right now. I rented it and I love it, but I f***ing lost around 50 times in the third level. Geeze! I always come .1 seconds behind and lose in 2nd place.
And in my honest opinion, I have to agree with Jason, the music is pretty techno crappy, I liked the original music the best, but this game is awesome, just too hard!

Yea, that third story mode level was a tough one. You gotta hit EVERY jump pad, and use your boosts perfectly...Just keep trying. I finally came across the origional F-Zero music in the game...you cant beat the origional theme song.

About 2 hours ago, I beat the third story level on my 63rd try. This game is very awesome. Even though it can be very hard, I can't stop playing. Now I move on to the 4th story level... S**t, I can't imagine how hard this will be.
And Jason, original FZero music? Seriously? All I heard was Mute City (first level in Ruby Cup in Grand Prix) that was sort of original. Will the future story levels have original songs from the first FZero? I hope to hear the original Big Blue theme.

Yeah I'm loving it too... just got it an hour ago. I was playing the last level in the second Grand Prix on novice... i was in first place in the grand prix but i fell off the level every time and lost all of my lives... like 20 seconds into the level there's a jump and i just was going too slow to make it... pissed me off. Great game though!
What character is everyone using?
Meh, I don't find it too hard. =\ I'm just about to beat all the master courses.
I'm using the Blue Falcon most of the time, but if I need speed I revert to my custom craft. BBB. Very good everything, and pretty light too. Just a bit harder to control than the blue falcon.
Oh yeah, are you guys using L and R buttons to lean into turns? You won't get the boost after a turn if you don't, and you need that.
I think the hardest part of the game is trying to snake. That's hard. Still can't do it. :p

I've been playing this a good amount. I'm getting pretty good, but I haven't really gone outside the novice difficulty because I've been trying to get through the story mode (which isn't as easy as I expected, heh).
But my fav. track is the last one in the Ruby Cup (I can't remember the name). It's somewhat challenging, but not too challenging. That's what I love:p

Me too!!! I love that level, it's called Aeropolis, and I am really good with that level. I beat the computer by 11 seconds on that map.
Also Dyne, how do you do the snake cheater... or whatever they call it? This is what I am talking about...
http://asx.pod.tv/am-sega/free/fzero_drift01.asx
I know it has to do with L and R and left and right, but I tried, all I get is sharp turns that make me go slower.... That video goes over 4000km/h... Wow... just wow!
PS: I just beat Stage 6 and tried the first stage on hard... Haha, I guess I won't be playing this game on hard....

The diamond cup is awesome, the second version of aeropolis kicks ass, one of my fav courses. I got up the 6th chapter in the story mode, after that its unbelieveably hard.
this game is excellent though, too bad it wasnt online.

Guess what? I found a code to unlock the original Big Blue theme. There is a easy way and a hard way.
The original way to unlock it is the hard way, it's to beat all of Grand Prix on expert, but believe me, this song makes the game awesome. Brings back a lot of great memories. Here's the code for the easy way.
Go to the Customization mode and enter the F-Zero shop. At the screen where you can choose to buy machines, machine parts, or miscellaneous items, enter the following button code:
Z Left Right Left Z Y X Z Left Right Left Right Z X Z X Z, with the direction inputs entered by the digital directional pad.
A soft sound should play. Now you can purchase 'Sounds of Big Blue', which is basically the option to use the remixed Big Blue theme at the Big Blue tracks, for 99 tickets at the item shop.
To activate, in practice or time attack mode, when selecting the course to run on, press Z after highlighting any Big Blue track.
Trust me, it's awesome and it's worth the 99 tickets. Wow.

What are the best ways to win tickets? The only ways I've found so far are winning Grand Prixs and winning story mode chapters. Also, can you win more tickets for beating GPs you've already beaten?

Yes, yes you can. That's what I did. You can beat the same Ruby Cup on the same difficulty and always get 15 tickets all the time. But I recommend choosing a different character each time...

I really want to get this game...since racing games are my favorite...I just haven't been able to get out to the store. Hearing all of this reminds me about the last time I played F-Zero Maximum Velocity for GBA...when I finally beat every race on Master Difficulty with every racer....and well..nothing special happened at the end..but I felt like I accomplished something lol. It was hard.

Yes, you will feel a great accomplishment once you beat Master on GX. I've yet to get to master, but I've heard its hell.

I finally beat the 3rd chapter on story mode after about 12 tries... i used the Snake trick... it's hard to stay on course but once you get the hang of the course it works wonders!

Woa, this game is FINALLY OUT in Europe!!
I picked it up yesterday and it's awesome! :p
First I didn't like how you bump into walls... it made me feel like a pinball-ball. But after I got used to the controls (way tighter than F-0 X) it was good.
So far I've beated the first 2 Cups on Novice. And I beated the 3rth chapter of Story Mode.
Yeah it's hard, but I beated all the levels within... 5 tries. So it's just perfect.
Great game. :)
Oh, question: can you upgrade the machines of the standard racers?? Let's say I like Jody Summer, but think that her max speed sucks... can I like buy a new engine for her machine? That would be cool...

Thats what I wondered initally too, and the answer as far as I can tell is NO. You can only make new machine's from scratch, not upgrade exsisting machines. Sorry Angrist.

I know this is kind of late lol, but I finally got a chance to rent it on Saturday and, even though I haven't had much time to play it because of school, I've beaten everything on novice, and the Ruby Cup on Standard, and I was about to beat Saphire Cup on Standard but I kept making stupid mistakes in Mute City, which I'm rather good at. My driver of choice so far is White Cat, I just like how tight she can make turns, and she has a good top speed, so if you don't hit the walls, and have good control, you can get up to the lead without depending on boosts. I wish I could keep this game for longer, I'm going to try to beat some things on expert soon...that should be interesting. I maybe end up asking my parents to get it for me for christmas. Great game so far, but I hope there are more courses, since I don't like many of the first few. I could go on and on with comments about this game, but I think I'll just stop here. I've been waiting for a good racing game for the Gamecube for a while now..

I just beat everything on Novice, and Standard, and I have like one day left to start Expert. I can handle it! I was so close to getting first on everything in the Diamond Cup on Standard, but the last course, whatever it's called, phantom something..I got 5th, it's tricky.
Canyarion
11-21-2003, 04:14 PM
But you still won, so why bother?
I remember with F-Zero X, on expert I really NEEDED to kill my rivals. And then finish as... 6th or something, that was enough. :)
The extra mode wasn't funny anymore... way too hard.
ZebraRampage
11-21-2003, 07:25 PM
Yeah, I guess it doesn't matter what place you get as long as you are first overall, I just like to win. And also, I just beat Ruby Cup on Expert, and I beat the 3rd Story Level, on my fifth try, it took me a few times to find out where to use my boosts. I don't if I should get this game, because I want to beat it, but I don't have enough time to beat it, and once I do beat it, it seems like it will get boring. For some reason, the only thing that's keeping me entertained with the game is the level of difficulty, and once I master it, it will just seem boring. They should allow you to rent games for 2 weeks lol.
Canyarion
11-22-2003, 06:20 AM
You mean you can't rent it another week? I bought it because it will be fun with friends. :)
I'm on the... 6th story level, I don't have enough tickets to buy it though. :p
