Have you guys heard about these? All of Detroit, Clevland, NYC, and much of Toronto and Onterio are having major power outages! All the mass tranz in Manhatten is closed, and much of NJ and CT are having power crap too!

Any of you affected by these?

Your location thing says you live in NYC. How are you even posting this?

:hmm:

I moved to Jersey a while ago, I just never bothered to change my profile since I'll be moving to Pennsylvania next week. And only parts of NJ are out, which is how I'm writing this.

Satisfied?

Well, I live in southeast pennsylvania, so I'm allright becasue there are only blackouts in northern PA and such. It's crazy watching all of these New Yorkers having to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. sucky.

why do they have to walk over?

Well, all those who take the subway are screwed, so I guess they are walking.

Of course after I hear about this, so many people associate this to terrorism.
It sucks for the people who are stuck in subways and elevators, though.

Yeah and those who have electric powered health support stuff. They could die.

I'm sure hospitals have generators giving them power, anyone on oxygen machines can use O2 tanks for several hours.

If it lasts more than 24 hours, then you're looking at panic time.

Also, be on the look out for Son of Son of Sam.

Geez, I'm really going to hell.

The power went out here for like 1 minute about 30 minutes before the big blackout happened. I don't know why though. Oh and I live right near Philadelphia.

Nothing happened here in California... And I hope nothing does happen.

I know hospitals got back-up power, but some folk have at their own respirators or something like that at home.

It was great last night when they were showing helicopter shots of NYC in the dark.

All the hosptials are online, however, many are complaining that the backup generators are running out of fuel. Right now I just want my dad to get home. He's stuck in NY, I guess. He never made it home last night because even if he could have walked into NJ, we live majorly too far to get home without the trains running.
ohwell...

It was the longest 16 hours and 43 minutes of my life.

I feel sorry for the people who were trapped in the mines that long.

Well I'm back home from staking out at a friends house. I live in NYC (Queens), I went on the roof of the houses and saw manhatten without any lights on and it's spooky as hell. Some people I knew were trapped on the subway systems. Now that has to suck

I just got my power back right now! It has been out since around 5 or 6 pm yesterday, until 11:30 today.

Well, I was gone while it happened and I just got back, but I heard about it on the radio. My area was affected too, but the power is back now.

LMAO

I couldnt help but laugh when I frist heard about this whole mess...the entire Northeast part of the country...COMPLETLY ****ED!!!

Did anybody see Conan last night? He actually did 15mins of a show with no power...it was freaking awsome...no audience, and everybody there wore their street clothes. Then he cut to a re-run.

Oh yea one other thing...I think its freaking halarious that Texas has their own power grid...Theres west...There's east...and there's Texas!!! ROFL.

Quebec also has it's own power grid... and I really don't see whats so funny about a smaller area having it's own power grid.

It was a very fun 22 hours without power, no TV, no computer, no videogames, no cell phone for one reason or another. I had a blast... Gonna invest a lot into board games and playing cards now... =-D

Luckily, I saw into the future, and moved to BC thirteen years ago! :sneaky:

When I saw this, the only thing I could think of being affected here would be the marijuana plantations in people's houses.

"Oh ****! My lamps!"

It's so funny because it's true! The house to the north of me and the house to the east of me both got busted for marijuana. I want to see them run out screaming in their underwear.

Welll the blackout caught my dad, my cousin and me in manhattan, we were near the seaport, it took us 3 hours to walk home and I didn't exactly have walking shoes , but hey it beat being stuck in an elevator or subway.

Then when we got home by the apartment building I'm staying in........it was so dark i couldn't see my hand in front my face and that was during the day and the night time ( the power outage lasted about 24 hours or so in our area)

I really felt sorry for all those people that were lost ......... and trust me alot of people were just walking and din't know where they were going, and some people really had to walk far....... so I'm grateful.

Well just a week and some days left till I return home :D I'll try to have fun and shop as much as possible and annoy BAB as much as possible!!!! :D I think I'll phone him and wake him up early tomorrow :sneaky:

Oh yeah , I didn't have gas, water or electricity either

Could that be because NASA Mission Control is based there and they can't risk losing power?
