its acutally a file that comes in thru your internet connection and disconnects u and restarts your computer its not saved to your harddrive it comes in with info like loading webpages and things like that thats why u have to activate the firewall and the windows update will get rid of it so it doesnt effect your computer

Yeah, this showed up for my last night. My internet's been screwy lately, so I was blaming it on them, but some internet technician dude came over today (He was anyway, the timing with this virus thing was just lucky, I guess), and explained it.
It apparently big-time affected a bunch of major Universities (He mentioned Yale and Harvard) and a load of other places.
Buuuttttttt, with the patch installed, all is working well now.
Damn hackers and their ability to exploit the screwy Windows products.

I'm finding that with my Shaw cable. I think they're all hooked up with that @home stuff in some way.
I'm only getting like 30% up-time, and I've had 4 "technicians" over who haven't fixed anything. :distress:

Don't blame the hackers;) Blame the ass and his company. Just like what they found out was in the "virus". Something like, spend your money on security and this wouldn't happen Billy.
Why hasn't anyone sued MS yet? I swear I could see some lawsuits coming from this if data was lost, because this virus isn't controllable at first. If enough data was lost and it happened before the virus made news, a lawsuit could easily come out from the result of this.

But I thought it also saves it locally on the hd? Because I thought I read somewhere that people still have the reset problems when not logged on to the 'net (and hasnt put the patch on yet).
