Who's picked up their copy yet? I have! I don't have a PS2 because it is at Sony... So I am gonna rent one for a week or two! I am gonna play a couple of games first offline, then play online with some SOCOM buddies.
So post your impressions here! And your online name too!

I picked the game up today, and (of course) I love it. Won my first and only online match so far...other dude had a mic too and he was trash talking big time. When I took the lead in the 4th quarter I just laughed at him and he unplugged his headset. I ended up winning by 3 points. :guitar:
Hope to see you online ASAP Joe :p

I picked up the game today and it's totally awsome.
It seems they took every little thing that I'd ever had a problem with in all the past Madden games and fixed them. And relatively speaking, there weren't that many problems.
The depth is f*cking amazing. Owner mode is crazy. There's so, so much stuff to do I could definitely find myself playing this game for a nice long time to come.
Easily the best football game ever.

Are you playing online, PE?
I sure am not!
I could definitely see it happening in the near future though...
So, for online play, what do you need? Internet(duh), the network adapter, one of those headset things, and... Anything else? What about a keyboard or mouse or something?
For anyone who has Madden 2004, could you please check for me and see if Wesley Walls (TE) is on the Packers roster? Thanks.

I'll get my copy today... had it reserved, and could have got it yesterday, just didn't ;)
I doubt I'll play online for the next couple of months... but I will play the hell out of owner's mode.

Network adaptor will run you about 65 bucks, headset (not needed, but adds a lot to the game) costs about 35 bucks... You can use a keyboard for typing if you want. And you will also need a router if you want to use your computer and PS2 online at the same time.

He's there, my friend. He's there.

For Xbox or PS2 or GCN?
Probably Xbox. I mean, who buys sports games on the GameCube?

Bond, I think Walls is only on the Packers with the downloadable roster update EA has online for PS2 folk.
But it doesn't matter...you can sign him as a free agent. Rosters are completely customizable...I change all the player ratings according to my opinion of them.

All EA Sports games are the same name...like XBox Live. As for the rest, I usually just use DiscoStuIGN for all online games on PS2. Everyone else should follow suit.

yea i know EA sports does that, but it sounded like he was refering to just online games in general. For people that stick with one name it would work. but if for some odd reason someone took it or some people like to be a diff name for each game etc.
just saying it wouldnt work out as well to have a spot for your online name on ps2 games. ( which isnt a bad thing.)
I just got my copy, going to play now.
Can you say Return to Titletown III?
Does anyone have any tips as far as passing the football goes?
Favre had 3 interceptions in our narrow 14-13 win over the Vikings.

I've heard lots of people having that same kinda interception problem (Myself included). Apparently they cranked up the AI a bit this year.
You can fine tune it though, so just like... Turn down CPU interceptions a notch or two.

I threw 6 intereptions with my created QB on NCAA the first game, after a while you will start seeing what works. I have had no problems passing on Madden yet because of my NCAA experience... even though it's MUCH easier on Madden to screw up.

Playmaker control is amazing. I advise you guys to view the Playmaker Defense and Offense tutorials before starting!

Don't throw 'GO' patterns unless the safeties bite and you have like Marvin Harrison or Randy Moss in man-on-man coverage. DB's act like real NFL DB's this year...they'll pick that sh*t off. Do not throw into double coverage or tight coverage. Throw lots of crosses and swing passes, and roll out of the pocket and use playmaker to send your WRs into open field. Run the ball 70%+ of the time in the first quarter, then use a lot of play action for the remainder of the game. PA plays work amazingly well this year with the new camera.
On defense, playmaker control is so f*cking amazing and so f*cking necessary in order to dominate. Hit down on the right analog stick when you see your opponent run...your DB's will attack the ball carrier. Hit up when you see pass...your DB's will commit to the pass and focus their attention on pass coverage. And speed rush around the outside. With the speedy Colts D-Line, QB's can't drop back more than 5 steps without getting eaten alive.
Hope that helps ;)

Good tips Stu
Do not throw into double coverage or tight coverage.
I must quote this to stress it... Never EVER take a chance in couble coverage. Oh, and if you are going to make a thow to a person that is 'open' he isn't really open unless the DB's back is to the ball or he has 10 or more yards of space. They make it very diffucult for a DB to pick off a pass when his back is to the ball, so even if he makes a Deon Sanders move and gets close to you somehow, the ball won't be picked.
Also, even if you have a slow QB, be sure if you are doing some slower routes to take advanage of the R2 (or L2 I forget ;)) button and pull the ball down for a run. Why? Well 1) People who use the playmaker controls too much will not have enough pressure to stop you if they predict a pass, and you will be able to bail out and get a suprisingly easy 10 yard run. 2) If you do it right after the snap and act like you are going to run, the defence bites HARD, and at worst has a cofused reaction of playing thier man lightly and keeping charged up to chase the QB. In these cases, prss R2 (or L2 ;)) again and hit the open reciever.
After the QB starts getting insane stats running no matter if you are playing a human or the CPU, they will start playing you different...and the passing game becomes freedom after this.
Why am I giving you these tips? I dunno. This is pretty much how I play... so practice to kick my ass online ;)
