UK HEATWAVE CRUSHES CONSOLE SALES

'Too hot for gaming' is message from consumers as hardware sales plummet, with GameCube dropping below 1,000 units per week mark for first time ever

18:08 As temperatures reached a record-breaking 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the UK over the weekend, it seems gaming was the last thing on the mind of the great British public as hardware sales for the week ending August 9 plummeted across the board.
PS2 sales fell almost 25 percent, dropping below 10,000, while Xbox sales took a similar hit, dropping below the 4,000 mark. More worryingly for Nintendo, however, GameCube sales plunged below the 1,000 mark for the first time since launch,

Somewhat surprisingly, the hot weather proved too much even for handheld gaming, and despite the release of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire last month, sales of both GBA and GBA SP also fell, GBA just outselling Xbox, while SP dropped to over 12,000 units for the week.

Commenting on an unsurprisingly poor week for the UK games industry, a heavily sweating Jon Cronin, marketing and PR manager of games retailer CeX, told us: "The whole industry is down as a result of a seasonal dip, but the reason why we feel GameCube has fared worse is simply down to lack of software. You've had great, innovative products like Eye Toy on PS2, for instance, pulling people in who might have otherwise purchased GameCube for accessible gaming.

"In the face of that competition, GameCube hasn't had anything that strong since Zelda, which did fantastically well. It's just down to lack of software."

But while gaming has temporarily gone into freefall, unprecedented tropical conditions have ensured sales of lager in the UK have gone through the roof. The Daily Star reported on Saturday that Britain was on the verge of a 'lager crisis' with reserves running dry due to an increase in sales on last year of a staggering 8,000 percent. Proving, beyond any reasonable doubt, that power drinking in the sunshine is the way forward.

And all I can say to that is BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Jon this is Seth, don't lie you haven't seen the light of day in years, honestly. You wouldn't know hot from cold. I bet if you saw natural sunlight you might die.
