KASSEL, Germany (AP) -- German prosecutors have charged a 41-year-old man with murder for allegedly killing, dismembering and eating the flesh of another man who consented to the arrangement over the Internet.
The man, a computer expert identified only as Armin M., carried out the killing in March 2001, prosecutor Hans-Manfred Jung told a news conference in the central city of Kassel on Thursday. He was arrested last December.
"It is certain that the crime was committed with the agreement of the victim," Jung said. But prosecutors classified the death as a murder, not as a form of mercy killing, because the evidence indicated it was carried out at the suspect's initiative.
The suspect killed the victim, a 43-year-old from Berlin identified as Bernd Juergen B., by stabbing him in the throat at his home in the town of Rotenburg, prosecutors said.
He allegedly chopped the body into pieces, deep-froze parts of it and buried the rest, capturing the crime on a videotape which is being used as evidence.
Armin M. could face a life prison sentence if convicted. No date has been set for his trial.
Prosecutors said police tracked down the suspect after a student in Austria alerted them to an advertisement he had placed on the Internet seeking a man willing to be killed and eaten.
Police who searched the man's home found human flesh and bones.
"It is certain that the crime was committed with the agreement of the victim..."
:wtf:
And that, you see, is a good reason to avoid responding to internet advertisements seeking people willing to be killed and eaten.
I don't even know what to say about this. F*cking crazy.
Those Germans...
