I was looking through the site for my school on some of their rules and stuff, and this was just...

Because of the possible consequences which include personal injury, damage to University or personal property, and intimidation of others, the throwing of snowballs will not be tolerated on the Alfred University campus. Individuals who are identified as participating in snowball fights or throwing snowballs will be subject to University judicial action as well as possible arrest and prosecution.

They're probably afraid if someone gets hurt on school grounds they'll be sued. Kind of sad.

I would throw them anyway.

I would throw them anyway.

I hope you would get punished for doing so.

;)

Umm.. This rule is probably just for precautionary reasons. They most likely do not enforce it.

At my high school there were suspending people who were throwing snowballs. Kind of a stupid rule, but Bond's probably right, they're just afraid of someone getting hurt and maybe suing or whatever.

Damn legal worries.

Yeh sounds dangerous, they should also ban eating, coz you can choke and stuff.

Seriously though maybe snowballs can cause injuries and stuff.

The rule makes sense to me. With the exception of the arresting part.

For a non-Canadian University, I guess that does seem harsh.

I like snow fights, but I hate it when kids start throwing at passing strangers or cars...

Yep...thats what they do at my school sometimes. I believe some people got into some trouble for it.

Yeah...accidents happen like that. Although I do it anyway because...well I don't know just instincts I guess.

Yeah snowfights are forbiddden on my school grounds too. I've got in trouble many times for snowball fights. It's a stupid rule indeed...

Snowballs can easily cause injury. Snow can be fairly icy, and getting hit by a snowball like that in the face will likely produce a lot of cuts, and if the ball is frozen solid, it can actually knock someone out.

It's usually mindless fun, but I've seen many snowball fights involve balls of ice, and snowballs mixed with rock from where they grabbed the snow. Now to mention the possible damage of property. It's much easier for the school just to not allow it.

And sometimes people get carried away and the face washing begins. That's just plain not fun.

Stupid thing is, face washing WAS allowed at our school.... :(

I really don't see the fun of face washing
