Wow. Led Zeppelin truly rocks. I just picked up their two new releses, and they are phenominal. The 3 CD collection features live songs from 1972, including a 25 minute version of their best song, Dazed and Confused!!! I have listened to the first two CDs very loudly on my stereo system, and I was left very impressed. I will most likely listen to the last CD later tonight before I go to bed!

I also plan on watching the DVDs sometime this weekend. I think that they can be a really good trip, so I will have to pick up some drugs, smoke the drugs, and then pop in the DVD! I have heard nothing but good things about the DVDs.... So I really cannot wait to watch them.

Is anybody here going to buy these? I really recommend them to anybody who loves awsome guitar solos, drum solos and wicked singing!

Zeppelin rocks!

Yeah that song's fun... He doesn't hate them because of the music or the guy himself, he hates them because they're old and people worship them like they're god or something...

Led Zeppelin is indeed an amazing group. I might put my money to purchasing a few of their albums, seeing as how I enjoy their music so much. Hmm, that'd have to be after I purchase more Dream Theater (thanks SC), KMFDM, and Megaherz (import)... but before I purchase the new Rammstein album. Hmmm, so good... *listens to Misty Mountain Hop*

And, by the way... interesting concept you've got going on here.

Yes, quite the appropriate way to both state one's obviously unwanted opinion whilst both spamming and gaining a meaty post count.

Are you serious here? Have you checked my profile? Does 2.00 posts per day have the looks of someone who spams and post crams? I joined NDose in August of 2000 and barely have 1500 posts. Now, go home...

Wow, I would have thought that with your esoteric taste in music (and good from what I've read), you'd have thought differently about Led Zeppelin (not that they are alternate or anything).

I believe they were, and are THE BEST band ever. I can't think of many bands that HAVEN'T been influenced by them.

Was it the drummer that said he sold his soul to the devil? (That must be why they're flipping awsome).

But anyway, Trampled Under Foot is one of my favourite L.Z songs :D.

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh.

Oh, I been flying... mama, there ain't no denyin'
I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
Ohh.

When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there

Let me take you there. Let me take you there

dun dun dun DUN

yeah......sucky.

or not

Do you think I listen to this typical "new rock"? Hell no, it sucks worse than Zeppelin. Most of the bands I listen to are on indie labels, 90% of which you've probably never heard of. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but just because I don't like classic rock and all that jazz, doesn't mean I have bad taste whatsoever. In my opinion, I listen to some of the best music that is being made today. If YOU can't take enough time to find some great indie bands, than I fault you for not liking some new music. Just because you don't see it in Rolling Stone or the Billboard charts doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. That goes a long with rap too. The amount of fantastic indie hip-hop out there is astounding. Look up some indie music before you make such a statement that most of this "new" stuff sucks.

I mean, the songs have every ingredient to make an amazing tune. A singer with a cool voice. AMAZING guitar. AMAZING drums. And AMAZING lyrics. What more could you ask for?

"There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings
In the tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter

And it makes me wonder

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen

Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on

Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

And she's buying a stairway to heaven, uh uh uh."

Once again, you can't just label music like that. Music is art. YOU can say something is amazing, but if it isn't amazing to me, what good is it? I can tell you to listen to Olivia Tremor Control's Black Foliage, and you can tell me it sucks. I think it is a goddamn masterpiece, great lyrics, great instrumentation, etc. But if you don't like it, what is there to say? Led Zeppelin does nothing for me, sure it may for LOTS of people, but think of how many people like today's music. It still sells money doesn't it? Mostly everybody here says they hate it popular music, but millions love it. Mostly everybody here loves Led Zeppelin, but me (somebody) hates it. That's the only way I can defend myself...

Just out of curiosity, how many songs have you heard by Led Zeppelin? It seems that you have given them a try, so that is good. I cannot say the same for a lot of new music. I just hear the crap that gets played on the radio, which leads me to believe new rock sucks.

Well, if you listened to zeppelin 3 and coda, then you should go and listen to Zoso (zep 4) and Houses of the Holy and then give your opinion because based on zep 3, coda, in through the out door, or presence (their 4 weakest albums IMO) you could have a very jaded view of the band.

Yeah, I just talk about bands and their music because I don't listen to them, good one...I'm not trying to say that I'm smart or anything like that, but when people dismiss ALL new music, you sometimes have to wonder if they know that there are other options besides what you hear on the radio. If they've listened to a lot of indie rock and such and still don't like it, at least they've given a chance and said, "okay I still don't like it"...That's fine, and then they can still listen to their Led Zeppelin and whatnot. And when did I ever say that my music was more mature than anyone else's? My first statement was that I didn't like Led Zeppelin, then I defended my statements by showing what new music I did like.

You seemed rather bigheaded in your third post, and what you said at the beggining was quite foolish. I think Led Zeppelin were one of the better hard rock quartets to come out of the 70s, and I'm sure that most full-blooded rock and rollers would agree. It's fine to dislike the band, but the "Led Zeppelin sucks" post was really unnecessary, since this thread was probably made to start up a civil, informed discussion about how k3WL teh band iz. Maybe you should take your Led Zeppelin sucks assertion elsewhere and make an "official" Zeppelin sucks thread or something. I really don't like arguing with strangers via the internet, (i'm lying) but I still think that what you typed earlier was really pathetically stupid. The "Most of the bands I listen to are on indie labels, 90% of which you've probably never heard of" part. Obviously you are bragging, and obviously you put yourself above others, because you listen to unpopular music. Or maybe you just didn't realize how jackassy that sounded. And what do you like, andyway? Stuff off the Orange Twin label, probably? I can put up with that sort of music, but I'd rather listen to led Zeppelin. And as I'm sure someone will point out later, Led Zeppelin were formed in the sixties and still performed together in the eighties.

First of all, I backtracked on my statement that Led Zeppelin "sucks" in another post, read more carefully please.

Second of all, ok I admit that I was a bit pretentious when I made that statement about "90% of the bands" and so on, and I apologize for that, because that's the last thing I want to be, but it sometime irks me when I see statements like this...

"I cannot say the same for a lot of new music. I just hear the crap that gets played on the radio, which leads me to believe new rock sucks."

It's a terrible generalization, it's like if I listened to one song on the classic rock station and decided that classic rock sucks as a whole. I just want to try to get people to avoid saying that "all new music" sucks if they haven't listened to all that this generation has to offer. I've listened to plenty of what Led Zeppelin has to offer, and I don't like them, but it is my belief that not many people have not listened to some good indie rock (it's true that this is a minority). I'm not trying to say that I'm the only cool person who can listen to this music either as obviously you have too, so that's really not my point (and I didn't mean it to sound that way)... I dunno, I guess that's all I have to say, word...

Edit: Just a quick question out of curiousity, do you agree that independent music today is better than the "popular" music today?

On the whole, I'd say they're both about the same. Popular music isn't junk because a lot of people like it. But the only really newish popular group that I like right now are the White Stripes. As for indie rock, if Lou Reed doesn't count, then I guess Neutral Milk Hotel's the only "indie" act that I'm at all interested in. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea was a really good album. But no, I think it would be imbecilic to say that independant artists are generally more talented than musicians on major labels. Most well-known recording artists were "underground" at one time. Their style just eventually caught on with the public. Not that it's like that for everbody. Brittney Spears' first album sold 200,000,000 copies, and her second one sold a few million more. But, anyway, I would say that indie groups and artists usually have a purer, less manufactered sound. That doesn't mean they're any good at all, but they at least make music because they like making music. Not because they like making money. But if the money does come, they shouldn't be expected to burn it or anything.
