After years of watching the Cavs stink it up on cable (they're the closest NBA team around here and they're still nearly 200 miles away....) they're finally going to stink it up with... LeBron!!!! Woo-hoo!!!! Nothing beats LeBron on the Cavs with Ricky Davis. That and maybe the ugly uniforms....

And if you STILL don't believe in the conspiracy theory......

I know the cavs sucked, and they may have even had the best shot at the #1, but that's still only like what 20%?

Everyone knows whoever got #1 was taking LeBron (unless I was the gm, in which case Carmello would be my #1). Why wouldn't the NBA want LeBron to go to cleveland where he'll give the cavs sell outs for at least a year, even if he sucks.

This LeBron James crap is way too stupid. Some guy is playing around with high school kids and he's supposed to come and be the greatest thing ever.I bet he sucks and the Cavs will too.

*COUGH*Kobe Bryant*COUGH*

LOL. I agree that he was just up against stupid high schoolers... But still, this kid has got game. He has a crazy jump, and a nice shot. Cleveland still won't make the playoffs, but whatever. Its too bad that Cleveland got the first pick... James would have looked nice in Purple and Red. lol.

When they draft young guys they never expect them to be an immediate impact... they're not expecting lebron to put up 20 a game.. hes goin as the number 1 pick because he has so much potential hes got fire for the game... hes got good handles, hes got an nba body and hes still a highschool kid, good court vision, 40 inch vertical :), he can rebound and he can also pass... his shot isnt so great right now but thats something that can be taught....

I would never pick carmello with a first pick.. nor would i pick him second  I just dont see the big deal...

Man every can't be Kobe stupid. Many players are super nice in HS and then are nothing in the NBA. I don't remember so much buzz for Kobe when he went to the NBA. This whole LeBron James thing is stupid.

Actually, there was a lot of hype for Kobe coming to the NBA. Definately not as much as Lebron, but still enough.

LeBron probably won't make an impact for another 3 or 4 years... Kobe and Garnett didn't get as good as they are until a couple seasons in...

Why wouldn't they draft LeBron? He's big enough to play between Guard and Small Forward and the shear talent he has means that, if anything, he'll be at least a good player...

And so far, when you look at it, the High Schoolers that have come straight out since Garnett have had a reasonably good track record... hell Kwami Brown might be good if people stop making him cry... you got Stoudalmaire (sp?) the kid from a couple years back in Seattle (good off the bench guy can't remember his name...), Garnett, Kobe, Darius Miles (who's coming into his own), and probably some others. My mind is blank. There have been flops, Cleveland's Dasanga Diop comes to mind, but so far the same guys who were playing "stupid" high schoolers have transitioned reasonably well to the NBA and have shown some ability after a couple seasons in. And how much better ARE college players really?

And come on. Its not like I'm an f---ing Lakers fan going on about this. The Cavs have been terrible for nearly a decade and there one truly great seaons was 1975-76 (before I was even born by about 6 years). Now there's something to get excited about for once: Miles, Boozer, Wagner, Davis, Ilgauskas (the only Cav at the All-Star game). Jeff Van Gundy as head coach? This could be a pretty cool next season. For once. Now I just wish they had different uniforms.

Well, they do have new uniforms. They are red and black and white now, I think.

Err... I think the NBA gave cavs first pick because they were the only team who was going to pick Lebron first... just a move for hype. So Stoney... you got it backward :p... just put it like this, the first three teams to pick are getting the player they want.

Also, the jump from Highschool to the NBA is a huge step... it's like jumping from Jr High and playing at a college level, or from Elementry to the High School level. I think LeBron should go for the money and straight to the NBA... BUT, I feel that he isn't going to be anything his first year. I see one of two things happening:

1) The team manages to get worse, and he averages 20ppg or more.

2) The team gets better, and he has a rookie year much like Jay Willaims.

High School and College are just development stages, both mentally and physically. College isn't a must, but it would teach him a lot more about scoring in a slower more defensive game. The defence in the NBA is tough, but in college it's like a stepping stone. Some defensive strategies in college can't be used in the NBA, the NBA is more about one on one...

Plus in college there is a little stepping stone for the three point line. Lebron may pull up and hit one in HS... but in the NBA that isn't even close to a three pointer. In HS there is NO answer for LeBron, in the NBA every team has a shoting gaurd who is a defensive master. Not to mention that the NBA game moves about twice as fast.

I bet any starting SG in the NBA could go to HS and put up stats as good or better than Lebron... the difference is he is still growing, and they are completly matured. All this hype is dumb, his first year he is going to get dunked on and took all day. But when he gets used to the game he will be scary.

The question is, was his success in HS mostly Athletic ability or Skill? If it's athletic ability he isn't going to be anything in the NBA... if it's mostly skill then, like I said, he will be scary.

Lebron reminds me so much of TMac... Hopefully he will develop just like him!

? You don't want him to develop into an amazing player?

Or you don't want him to take so long to develop?

I bet any starting SG in the NBA could put up much better numbers than lebron did in HS... his numbers werent even that special.. 30ppg 8 rebounds and 6 assists i think... thats really nothing special.

Athletics is pretty much all vince had comming out of college .. and a 37 inch vertical =\.. and look what he did his first 3 seasons of the NBA Rookie of the year then in 2 years took a team that was rather bad .. and got them to one shot away from conferance finals.. =\...

It isn't? for an 17/18 year old that's amazing. and the only starting NBA SG who was just as good as him at the same Age was Kobe. For a NBA SG it's not that special... But he's a version of Kobe who is in NBA Shape. Kobe was a pile of bones, and Kobe didn't pass the ball, that's why they say LeBron is better :p

Carter is not a well rounded player... fan favorite, that's it. He's good, but athletic ability alone isn't gonna make you the next Mike.

Actually, he is a lot more well rounded than when he played in college.

He just didn't have to be well rounded in college, everyody knows Jamison was the leader at UNC back then. He was just a role player... Now he's he leader, and he had to step up his game, but he's still no great defender or even a 29ppg player.

He isn't a leader.

.

That wasnt my point  ... hes better than most were at his age and hes got an NBA body which no superstar that came outta highschool did in recent history.. tmac kobe garnett... all were twigs..

Maybe imr eally ignorant but i think carter was a pretty well rounded player.. every year he would improve on one thing.. first 2 seasons all he did was dunk... so people were sayin that he was nothin but a flashy dunker.. so he sais fine.. they think im nothin more than flashy dunks and the next year he has like a 46% fieldgoal average 41% from three point range and he had his flashy dunks and 27 ppg and 6 rebounds and like 5 assists.. that was his best season..
Then that one year in the olympics ever since he jumped over a 7'2 frenchman its been nothin but down hill.. If i remember correctly he led the US team in points to win the gold? Next season he started out great and hurt his knee in a san antonio game and was garbage ever since then..
THrough the rest of the season he did nothing but shoot jumpers
People started sayin he couldnt play defense at all and he somewhat stepped it up at the end of this season he got like 3 possible game tieing blocks..

Yeah.. that rant is over...
Im a vince fanboy..
