I used to think the only worst thing you could do in the presense of a dog is run. Yet after hearing this story, it's almost like you can't win either way.
A lady with her pit bull at her feet had another lady at her house and they were talking. They were sitting across from each other in a room. Out of the blue, the pit bull just charges into the other lady and starts ripping her apart, and killed her. It also tore its owner up when she tried to stop it from attacking.
How crazy is that? I always knew pit bulls are especially dangerous, but jeez. I wonder what the other lady might have done to provoke it. Seems like she wast just sitting there, just concentrating on the conversation with the pit bull's owner. Plus it was said that the pit bull had a rather decent temperament.
Well, maybe I won't condemn all dogs. I've come across some gentle ones myself and have played with them a little. I just guess I don't see myself owning a dog ever in my lifetime.
I personally don't see why people(especially in the city) own pit bulls. They're a dog that has be breed to be vicious. They aren't a family dog and shouldn't be treated as such. There's so many attacks from pit bulls and other "fighter breeds" each year. Also, the owner just doesn't know what happened to their well tempered dog.
How many of these attacks will have to happen before people smarten up.
Pit bulls belong in junk yards and mongolian dog fighting arenas.

Pitbulls are quite gentle and friendly in the absence of humans, as with any animal.
It's only when we interfere that animals become crazy and insane.

I was attacked by a bitbull when I was 5. I even have a scar on my leg from it. I'm still afraid to death of them

I hate dogs. If they come too close, I kick them. I don't like taking chances.

I do like some dogs like beagles and dalmations. I just have my own personal reasons for not wanting to own a dog as a pet. Yet I tend to be kind of shaky when I'm trying to walk past a stray dog.
I thought of getting a license to carry around one of those stun guns with me, in case I come across a stray dog while walking, that I'm sure could be trouble.
I didn't mention that I believe the owner is still alive. Just probably badly hurt is all.
It annoys me to no end when I see people walking dogs such as pit bulls, rottweilers, doberman pincers and other big aggressive looking dogs without a leash. Then the owners are going to swear up and down that the dogs don't bite. Oh what do you know? You irresponsible jerk-offs.

Kicking them? Now that's just asking for trouble. Plus I don't believe in cruelty to animals.

LOL... And putting a stun gun to their stomache isn't? LOL.
And I don't kick them hard.. Just hard enough so they no not to mess around with me.. hehe.
Oh, and I do like some dogs. Weiner dogs are cool... Because they are so little and mellow... They go around without a care in the world... My neighbour has one, and his name is Ben! Good stuff.

Somehow I knew Joeiss was a dog-kicker! ;) but anyway, I've been afraid of dogs since I was bitten by a nasty german sheperd as a child... they aren't all bad though, just like people... in fact, the thing that bothers me about dogs is the incessant barking some of them do... just like people! :D

When crazy dogs run up to me and start barking and stuff, you expect me to let them bite me? Hah... that is funny.

I used to have a minature Dachusand(weiner Dog). It died in 1999, but it was such a cool dog...He thought he was a pitt-bull...I swear, no dog EVER scared him...didnt matter how big. And he was way overweight so his belly dragged the ground in the grass...most people found that very funny, I just got used to it. It liked basically everybody except the mailman...The dog I have now also hates the mailman...and its a different mailman now...I have a golden retriever now. He's like the exact opposite...hes scared of just about everything. Water, Large boxes, the Vacum Cleaner, some other dogs. Hes still a good dog though, if you want a dog you can play with, get a golden. Plain and simple. My Dachusand didnt do much playing, especially later on, thats why I got a Golden after it died, we wanted a dog we could play with. But I would definatly get a Dachsuand again, such a cool dog...everybody likes them it seems. As for dogs attacking like that...I think its all in how they are raised. It has a little to do with the breed sure, but I think its more in how they are raised than anything. I love dogs.:D

What the hell? I have a Golden Retriever, so I take her out to walk quite a bit...I come across TONS of dogs up in the parks and fields and not once did a 'crazy dog run up to me and start barking and stuff' or bite me. In your neighbourhood, are there hoards of crazy dogs running around without leashes trying to bite everyone? Hard to believe...

OK, I don't kick every single dog that I see, but there have been about 7 or 8 incidents where crazy dogs have attacked me. And no, it only happened once here in Richmond Hill. All the other times have been out in farmland areas.

Bluefire, that was the funniest thing I have heard all day, and also the most disgusting.
And guys, don't get me wrong. I like some dogs, but I am not the problem. When there are stray dogs that start running at me, do you want me let it rip me apart? Hell no. The feet come in very handy. And not once has the dog like died... It just retreated.

Last year my friend Fabio was late to school one day...he never is...I was talking to him after first period class and I asked him why he was late, and he said "I was walking to school and a dog came out and bit my arm a lot, I punched it in the face and ran"
Later on I found out he told his mom he fell down the stairs...
WHY WOULD YOU MAKE AN EXCUSE FOR A DOG BITING YOU, LET ALONE IT BEING YOU FELL DOWN THE STAIRS?!? THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

I hate dogs, for personal reasons. That's why I've always liked cats much better. They're quiet, they don't attack people (unless you have a crazy kitten which attacks nearly anything that moves), and they just seem more calm and friendly.

If thats the case then why do so many people own a car. Cars are probably the most leading cause of death in the US. Or why do people spend there money on things like cigarretts. I mean if they keep smoking them there eventually going to kill them.
Seriously think of how many people own pit bulls and other fighting breeds and then see how very few of those dogs actually have attacked there owner.

Good question. I'm still a cat person though. Always have been, always will be.
For most of us a car is a necessity, a big ****ing pit bull isn't. I just can't see why people(especially people in the city) are so hell bent on owning a dog like a doberman or pitbull. It's just asking for trouble.
I've personally known several pitbulls who were thought to be completely harmless....but later on showed extreme aggressive behaviour. I'm not saying all pitbulls are violent.
Which is more likely to attack(and cause serious injury)? A golden retriever or a pitbull. They've been breed over the centuries as fighting animals. It's in their blood and it's not their fault. They just don't belong in an urban area.

Cars necessary for some, and pit bulls aren't as necessary? Never thought of it that way. Good one, bouncer. As for why some are so hell bent on owning pit bulls? Protection perhaps? Also, it seems like people like to walk these kinds of dogs without a leash to prove a point. Trying to look big and bad. Trying to make people fear them. I hate that.
Also, now that I think about it, you have more control over a car than a pit bull anyway. At least you know yourself when you're controlling a car (provided you're sober). Unless you're that pet psychic lady from that Animal Planet channel, perhaps you're all set when it comes to reading a pit bull's mind and knowing what will make it tick.

I'm definately a cat person, but I generally don't have much problems with dogs.
I just wouldn't want to own one because they smell, always walk in your way, loose hair and usually they're not as cute as cats. They don't come sit on your lap. :p
