I'm probably going to see it on friday... or saturday, depends on whether or not there are any tickets left. :D
Did you all see "The final flight of the Osiris" or something?? You should download it, it's a short Matrix movie (9 mins) totally made with the computer. You hardly notice it... :D
I'm also going to see The Matrix for the 6th time or something, to refresh my memory. :p

My friend was trying to get tickets for the 10:00 show tomorrow, but I feel like they are probably already sold out...I'll see it some time.
Edit: Well, turns out that he got the tickets as planned, so I'll be seeing the flick in a little less than 3 hours. I'm not terribly excited to see it, but I had nothing better to do...rock 'n roll.

No, no you're not. I barely ever like any of the big name movies that everyone else goes ape**** over.

In response to the thread question:
No. The first movie was entertaining, but it wasn't really an original concept. And the character development was laughable. I'll see the movie eventually, probably even in theaters. But I can most certainly wait.

I though it was good. I would have liked to seen some more bare white rooms though where Morpheus calls up things out of nowhere. That was cool.

Aside from the movie being placed in the future, what was not original?

Well, maybe he means like the "boy is transported to a world and realizes he has powers". Other than that it was pretty original.

How about the concept of "the world is not real and all your memories are just illusions?" You think that's original? Go watch Dark City and Total Recall again. Dark City has the hero finally realizing his powers which are basically flight and the ability to move everything around him with his mind. Total Recall actually gives the hero the choice to simply return to the illusion world by swallowing a blue pill. You guys can't seriously be telling me that you thought the Wachowski brothers were the first to come up with these ideas.

Not to mention it also borrowed ideas from Neuromancer.

I thought that the Matrix has about the most original plot possible. Of course you will find ideas that may have been suggested in other films, but what movie doesnt. The Matrix combined new, and some old ideas into one movie, threw in a few smart lines, and some nice visuals and voila, a blockbuster.

You didn't read my post. The concept of The Matrix wasn't suggested in other films. A concept just like The Matrix was the entire point of other films.
I'd also like to hear what these new ideas from The Matrix were. People have asked me to post stuff about The Matrix that made it unoriginal, and I did (with some help from Shadow Link as well). Now I'd like to turn the question back: what was new about the plot in The Matrix? I honestly don't think you'll be able to find anything that wasn't inspired by Total Recall or Dark City.
Don't misunderstand me. The Matrix is a good movie. I had a good time watching it. But it is not an original concept. It is not an original plot. And some people take it way too seriously.

I saw the plots in Total Recall and The Matrix similar, but totally different... I can see where you are coming from Xantar... I mean, all they really did was switching an illusion world from being self inflicted, to it being given by machines.
