Oh, and about the topic: haven't seen it yet but definitely will. If nothing else, I want to see Hugh Jackman actually going berserk this time.

Hey, calm down there. I am pissed because you spoiled the a big part of the movie in your first sentence. Here at GT, people have respect for eachother by not ruining things for oneanother. This was one of my most aniticipated movies of the year, and you ruined part of it for me. You used to be cool, and an apology would be nice.

Oh, and you called that a review? If you want to know how to write movie reviews, just ask, because I write them for several different local papers. They DEFINATELY DO NOT include telling people who dies and whatnot.

And don't triple post or yell at admins. He changed your post because you simply do not have any regard for people who wanted to see this movie. I know I am taking this seriously right now, but that is only because you seem absolutely clueless about what you have done.

Please don't ever do this again...

There should be spoiler tags where it looks like a quote but you can't read it unless you highlight the spoiler section. That would be great for revealing to who would like to see but still not spoil it for those who didn't want to see key things.

X-men 2 was amazing! Just, awesome!

For those who seen the movie, then read on further, for those who haven't, go to the movies right now and watch it.

MAJOR SPOILERS!

Wow, Colossus was awesome, I am sure he will kick ass in the next one. But the mansion part where Wolverine goes crazy.... that's awesome! Night Crawler was pretty cool too, but Wolverine is still the greatest! :)

The ending was really sad, but if you guys watched the cartoon during childhood like me (or if you still watch it), you guys should know that Jean is still alive, but she will be an evil character in Xmen 3 named... Phoenix. (Not sure, my prediction)

Pyro decided to be a bad guy too. In X3 it's obvious Iceman will fight him for Rouge (another prediction). I have seen a lot of movies, but that has to be the greatest sequel ever!

was Pyro and Iceman in the cartoons and/or comics? I dont remember them if they were...

anyway, the movie was cool. Nightcrawler was badass

I watched an interview with the movie's director, he said that the next film will almost definitely have beast, gambit, and some other guy who i cant remember, in it. :D

I dont care if the next movie sucks (which it probly wont), I'll go see it opening weekend as long as gambit is in it, he was always my fav character in the cartoon

DeathsHand
05-04-2003, 02:21 PM
Apparently gambit was cast in X2 (but only as a small role like Beast, Collosus, Jubilee, whatever else)... And apparently he was in a scene, but it was cut (and maybe it will be in the DVD)... And gambit's name (I forgot what it was... Something LuBeau or something?) was on the computer when Mystique was searching through it in Stryker's office or whatever...

http://www.stuntscanada.net/james_bamford.htm

look for "X-men2"...

Ginkasa
05-04-2003, 02:29 PM
Might be a stupid question but...

What is Gambit's power? I know in the cartoon he threw cards that exploded, but was that it? I mean, that's pretty cool, but how would someone have a power to make cards explode? Did he just happen to use cards or what?

I've never been able t figure him out.

And DM, I think Iceman was in the cartoon. I seems to remember him from some point I think. I think I remember Pyro as well although you probably shouldn't rely too heavily on me.... And of course they were in the comics.

*shrugs and walks away*

Xantar
05-04-2003, 03:54 PM
Gambit's power is to charge up any object until it becomes explosive. He could probably charge people up, but I never heard of him doing it. Anyway, he just carries a pack of cards for ammunition.

GiMpY-wAnNaBe
05-04-2003, 04:27 PM
ya, xantar's right, he supposedly "kinetically charges" whatever he touches...but apparently its voluntary unlike rogue's powers, meh

*Possible Spoilers for X3*

A little history according to the real source, Marvel comics (not the friggin cartoon)...

1) Pyro was a memeber of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants along with Magneto and Mystique, who later dropped Magneto and became Freedom Force, a government sponsored mutant special ops squad. I'm waiting for The Blob to come in the story, as he is one of the original villians.

2) Yes, Jean Grey did die in the comics, but on the Blue Area of the moon, where she was killed by an ancient lazer type weapon. She was later resurrected as Pheonix and was also cloned as Madeline and then.. well... it just goes on and on.

3) Hank McCoy, who was briefly in X2, is also known as Beast, and was one of the original 4 X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel and Beast). He later turned blue during some botched experiment, and then got lots of chicks.

Question to comic book heads... was Jason Stryker also known as Legion?

Much of the stories of the 2 movies were developed by Chris Claremont, who is one of the best comic writers, hands down. He and penciller Mark Silvestri are the best team to ever draw and write an X-Men comic. Very dark and bleak at times. Fantastic stuff. Highly recommended.

Some of you might remember Jim Lee, but he blows. He spent all his time drawing hot chicks without moving the stories along.

My hope for X3? One word... Apocalypse... ohhhhhhhh yeah...

ZeroCool51
05-04-2003, 08:14 PM
Apocalypse would be great in x-3 he was the best villian, he is immortal and can not be killed i dont ever remember the x-men killing him only shooting him out into space or something like that.

Hank was on the TV in some restaurant or something talking about Mutant legislation or something. He wasn't a part of any storyline, but just kind of in the background as a easter egg for long time XMen fans.

DarkMaster

who is Angel? for some reason, I dont remember that person at all...

and another thing, wasnt Sabertooth some kind of long time rival of wolverine? if so, it's kind of stupid that he died in the first x-men movie (unless he lived somehow or will raise from the dead for X3!) I always thought the back story with wolverine, sabertooth, and that chick (greyfox or something?) was pretty interesting in the cartoon

DeathsHand
05-05-2003, 06:33 PM
I don't remember sabertooth dying in the first one... So maybe he just was 'lying low' for a bit or was in custody... or... something...

Or maybe he died and I just forgot...

If you want to read the real story behind the characters, read the comics. They infinitely better than the cartoon. even though the cartoon wasn't that bad.

To clarify some of your questions:

*possible spoilers for future X-Men movies*

Angel was an original X-Man from the comics. He had large bird wings. I know pretty lame, right? Well, he was lamne until Apocalypse got his hands on him, replacing his feathered wings with razor sharp metal wings that could shoot knives... very cool.

Sabertooth is Wolverine's father.

I think either Sabertooth and Toad will be brought back for the next movie, or they aske for too much money for X2. Their deaths were far too vague for that to be the end of them if they could agree to terms on a contract price.

Oh yeah Apocalypse is like 2000 years old, he was deserted as a baby and a tribe of warriors from him, crying in the desert, took him in ( this is in Eygtian times) , but no one really knows if he dropped down from the moon or if he was born a mutant.

BTW why hasn't Rogue learnt to fly as yet? They have Rogue so crappy, she has super strenght and flight and I'm sure she developes them before Nightcrawler comes into the storyline.

And I want Gambit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Xantar's right as far as I know Gambit hasn't charged anyone up but I've seen him charge a big rock and shove it into someone's stomach , cool stuff.

I believe the movies are trying too hard to cram in characters. If memory serves me right, half of these characters should be more than twice their current age. Collosus and Iceman seem a bit too young.

I'm surprised that people don't know much about X-Men O_o. Maybe you're all too young, heh.

That would be Ms. Marvel. A very secondary character in the lineup of Marvel superheroes who had her day several decades ago.

And to all of you people complaining that the movie doesn't have your favorite mutant or that it has too many mutants or that it's doing the timeline wrong: chill. Really. It's a movie, and that means it can't completely copy the comics no matter how much of a fan Bryan Singer is of the books (and we all know that he is a big fan). Just enjoy the movie as a movie and stop worrying about how faithful it is. I didn't see anybody kvetching about how many changes The Two Towers made from the original book. That's because we were all having fun in the movie theater, and we didn't really care. Why can't the same be true for an X-men movie?

Two Towers was far too well done for me to care. Some movies, however, get to the point where flaws can tamper with enjoyability. X-Men 2 is a fun movie, and I'd watch it in the theatre a few more times given the opportunity... but I'd have enjoyed it even more had it stayed remotely close to characterizations and timelines.

It just reminds me of how Spiderman kinda just squirted out webbing, rather than making cartridges. It messes with too broad of an area, methinks.

Long live the world-wide releases of cinema movies! :D
I saw it yesterday, it was great. The opening scene with Nightcrawler...

Rogue was even prettier than in part 1 (and Fly Away Home) and Famke Jansen was great too. Too bad they had to pull a Gandalf on her...

Cool story, better than the first one. Magneto with the iron balls rules! :D

It was cool to see new mutants (Jubelee, Pyro..) although I don't think I saw Colossus... or I don't know who he was in the cartoons. Never read the comics.

Great movie, The Matrix Reloaded sure has a lot competition.... but I'm sure it can take it. :D

Considering the amount of X-Men mythos that Singer has managed to squeeze into 2 movies, you guys should be grateful. There will always be differences in movies and the literature they are based on. The logistics and processes between the 2 mediums are just too great.

Also, to pick on Spiderman because of the l;ack of cartridges is silly. Truthdully, its the cartridges that don't make sense in the real world, which is the world that movie makers have to put you in. Besides, Spiderman was faithful to the comic to a flaw (wrestling event).

Movies have a smaller amount of lenience when it comes to suspension of dispbelief. Moviegoers will scoff at unbelieveable plotlines more than comic fans. Example: In order for the movie to remain true to the comic with Pheonix, you have toi do several things:

1)Somehow get the X-Men to the blue area of the moon.

2) Explain all the relics in the blue area of the moon.

3) Basically narrate the history of the Marvel universe.

Bryan Singer has a hard job. He has to be true to the comic, but avoid the rest fo the Marvel universe as its too cumbersome for the films. Example: Rogue. Do we really want to get into the whole Ms. Marvel thing?

My advice. Just sit down and enjoy the movie without referencing your Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.

I finally got to see it. I enjoyed it. Very well thought out, and all the characters were great. I'm sorry I missed out on the comic books, but at least the cartoons are still around for me to see. By the way, I cried when Jean Grey sacrificed herself, and Cyclops broke down.

Before I went to see the movie on Monday (May 12), I rented X-Men 1.5 on DVD. Since I enjoyed X2 so much, I plan to get the DVD when it comes out. That's why I then went and bought my own copy of X-Men 1.5 yesterday (May 13). I knew X-Men 1.5 would have a ticket that would allow you to see Daredevil for free, but I never knew that you could use it to see X2 for free as well. Looks like I'm going to be seeing X2 again. It might be good, since I know a certain girl who apparently plans to see it this weekend. Hmmmmmmmm. *strokes chin*
