"17:42 Nintendo will show a brand new version of classy mech fighter Custom Robo at E3 later this month, we can exclusively reveal. Set to smash up the competition, this multiplayer action title is believed to take advantage of LAN network play, according to sources.

Custom Robo previously appeared on N64, but remained a Japan-only title, despite excellent reviews. A unique cross between Virtual On and Mech Warrior, with RPG elements, the N64 game featured kids' toys scrapping it out in multiplayer mayhem, with combatants fully customisable.

One inside source told us: "A GameCube version [of Custom Robo] is definitely in the works and is going to be unveiled at E3 in a couple of weeks." Furthermore, one of Nintendo's main focuses at E3 is expected to be network play between multiple GameCubes and Custom Robo is thought to be one of the key titles set to take advantage of this feature.

We contacted Nintendo for confirmation of the product, but a spokesperson was unavailable at the time of writing. We hope to bring you official confirmation soon."
