I got me 4 tickets for Ring of Honor this weekend in Philly, and I can't wait. Its ROH's firist time back in a LONG time since they went on tour so I'm really looking forward to this show. They are promoising it will be very memorable. Considering their last 2 shows involved riots and beat downs, I can't wait.
The last time I went to a ROH show, my entire section was taken out by a Hit Squad/Carnage Crew brawl that was insane. I dove out of the way of flying bodies and my friend (who is going with me again) got clipped hard by Tony DeVito as he was being thrown into a guard rail. Never seen anything like it. Insanity.
I never thought I would find another promotion that would takee the place of ECW, but now I think I have.
Once again, I highly recommend their product to ANY wrestling fan:

You won't be sorry.
*I am not affiliated with ROH in any way. I just love their product. Ask Chris about it :D This will be the last time I posst their addresses, though, as I am against advertising for free and even though this is just a consumer endorsement I'm starting to feel guilty :)

Damn Philly and their indy feds. :(
What was the last show you were at live? Glory by Honor? If so, you got to see Low Ki and Samoa Joe fight live?! You... piece of crap. :D

Yes that was it, and i have to tell you the video of that match did it NO justice. I was wincing with every strike. After the match they were both black and blue. It was the stiffest match I ever saw, and tonight I get a double dose of Samoa Joe... SWEEEET.
I make suire to give a review of the show afterwards:D
BTW, I just found out Steve Corino's flight was cancelled over the weekend because of the war... I wonder if he'll make a suprise appearance? :D

So, how was it? From some various people at various message boards, I get the impression that the show was okay-good, not bad, but not as good as most ROH shows.
Everyone says Fleisch/Low Ki was awesome though, and someone got a camera into the event and there are a couple short clips of the finishing move in that match (OUCH) and a few Low Ki kicks and whatnot.
And Samoa Joe the champion-- I never did like Xavier.

I like the show a lot, but then again I like anything that gives me really good wrestling. The booking was pretty good, but there were some missed spots and Mikey Whipwreck seemed off his game, mentally.

I iked Low Ki and Fleisch, but I didn;t think it was as great as everyone thought it was. It was issing something. There were just so many kicks thatb they lost their effect, but the finisher was unbelievable. Has to be seen to be believed.
Best matches of the night?
Red and AJ Styles vs the Briscoes. The Briscoe Brothers are just an awesome tag team, especially for their age. Blind tags, quick tags, a Rock and Roll Express-esque hot tag, double teams that make sense without being too blatantly set up. They remind me of a babyface Arn and Tully in that area. Red and Styles were excellent on their own, but they need to work out their kinks as a tag team. Aside from a few obviously scripted spots, they basically just worked as singles wrestlers. Sublime singles wrestlers, but still singles wrestlers as Tag Team Champs. Get the belts on the Bros.
Doug Williams vs. Chris Daniels - An excellent 20 minute match filled with ring psychology and mat work. This match shows that a match can look brutal with stretching and selling. Chris worked on the ribs and Williams worked on the neck. By the end they both looked like they were about to fall apart. Willaims wins with the Chaos Theory and become the new FWA champ and the new #1 contender for the ROH Championship
What made me say "meh":
The scramble match. This thing just never came together. Matches lie this are usually awesome of sloppy, and this one was sloppy. Quiet Storm and looked slow compared to Special K, and I think he may need to take a break, even though he did hit a perfect Storm Cradle Driver. Special K are high spot heroes, but they really didn't hit any o their signature spots. I sat there thinking: "What? No sping board twisting standing moonsault? Then whats the point of me watching you?" Plus, there are about 5,000 members of Special K who all dress and look alike. The ones not in the match are milling around, pretending to take drugs and generally annoy the s**t out of everyone.
Samoa Joe vs. Xavier - God their styles don't work well together. Firstly I can't stand Xavier. He weighs 180 and wrestles like he's Triple ***king H. Plus, someone should lend him 50 cents so he can go buy some charisma. The man just sucks the heat from the crowd. Samoa Joe needs to start selling more. He basically made the champ look like a punk in the end by constantly "hulking up". And when you beat a chump, you are a chump and the belt your wearing is for chumps. Whether Xavier sucks or not, he should have made him look great so that he looked even better when he won. It firthered the angle of the Prophecy vs. Corino's group, but with Corino in Japan all the time, I'mm curious as to how they will keep this one going.
What sucked: The riot angles. Good lord they should drop it already. It looked really good in NY, ok in Boston, but it just looked stupid here. Everyone, and I mean everyone knew it was a work. To the point that when they started jawing at ringside, fans started chanting "You are workers" and "I saw you in Jersey Pro". They got punked and then ran in later with basseball bats, and yes, a machete. Word to the wise: If you're going to bring a big knife to the ring, your name better be Atsushi Onita and not some short, fat BUTT UGLY jersey kid. They better get this angle in the ring by the next show or else ROH is going to start getting backlash as this angle seems more like soemthing that would be in XPW than ROH.
What I missed: Michael Shane and Paul London. These two just have chemistry, and they light up the ring no matter who they're wrestling. The show was definitely missing their element.
Overall: 8.5 out of 10. really good show, but not near their best effort. I'm going back April 12th though, to see if they can turn out a tellar show with London and Shane back in action.

Nice review, I notice the majority don't like Xavier.
And about the Briscoe's, I just plain love those guys. When they faught at the sixth ROH show, that was one of my fav matches of the last five years. They just seem to click together.
I'd like to see that Daniels vs Doug Williams, I LOVE the chaos theory and Daniels= God. If it was as good as the match I saw between them months ago, I'd imagine I'd like it.
It sounds like I'd enjoy the same things you did and dislike the same things you did from this show, I'll have to get this show ASAP to find out anyway.
