The top selling GCN game didnt even sell as good as the #10 PS2 game. For God sakes, GameCube has to do something to make sales bigger.
Xenosaga sold pretty damn good, considering it came out on the 3rd last day of February.
It's a shame, those 12,060,060 people who bought the Getaway I doubt had a very happy....uh, February.

Actually Metroid Prime did outsell SOCOM. SOCOM made a lot more money, though.
First number shown is $$$ made. Second is units sold...
12 million copies of the Getaway sold? ;)

Well actually Mario Party 4 and Metroid Prime did outsellf SOCOM, the way it's done is that the number sold appear after the dollar sign, why it was done like that is beyond me.
But Xenosaga did sell pretty well, and atleast Nintendo improved enough to have 2 games sell more than the top selling Xbox game.

what's even worse is that PDO isn't even on the xbox top ten.
I'm gonna go cry.

The GameCube is just in a slump at the time. No great games have come out since the beginning of the year, but it will pick up after Zelda hits. But I don't really care who's on top and whatnot because it just gets old after a while;)

Sales numbers are actually very important to the industry, and it affects gamers...
Developers/Publishers notice how games are selling very well on a specific system or not well on a specific system. If you don't think that it will influence them as to which system they want to attach to or avoid then I think you'd be quite off base.

If that was directed at me, I was never referring to the companies. I was referring that I don't care too much about sales figures because it gets old already knowing who's on top. I buy games not based on sales, but based on Quality. (I am NOT implying that top selling games are bad!)

People said that with SMS and MP. But did GCN beat Xbox in holiday sales? Not from what I remember, unless I remember wrong.
BUT Wind Waker did have a lot of pre orders... but I have a feeling it will die out fast.

read my post again...I was talking about how QUALITY GAMES, as you mention you care about (duh) could (and usually are) be put on the system whose games sell the best

I think every system has slumps, but slumps are always a matter of taste.

I think it's funny that gamecubes best selling game Metroid Prime did not even come close to PS2 best selling game, hell it didn't even come close to their number nine game. Again I feel anger within this thread.

Ok I'm tired of this..........why is it that when ever someone puts up a sales thread someone always say .........that's terrible the top GC game isn't even selling better than the last Ps2 game....etc etc...blah blah
I mean it's obvious for crying out loud and because of the user base PS2 has this generation it's most likely that the games on the PS2's top ten chart are going to outsell almost everything on the GC and Xbox.
IF you want, compare Xbox and GC, because it really doesn't make sense comparing Ps2 to any other console.
BTW did SOA sell over a Million copies?

No, I don't even know if it's broken the 100,000 barrier yet. I'm not surprised though, it is a port of a 2 year old game on the DC, which wasn't very popular on that mind you. The series needs time to make a name for itself, I reckon the sequel will sell bucketloads more though.
And you make a good point. Why even compare something that's so obvious? The PS2 has a userbase around 5-6 times that of the GC. Obviously games will sell better on it. Like he said, a better comparison would be between the GC and Xbox.

Where did someone compare PS2 sales to Gamecube sales? (besides DM's little #1 less than #10 thing)

Well, apart from answering your own question (;)), there was Duffman.
But I was referring to DM and things in general.

I don't blame people for no buying it. The game can be beat in 5 hours, and replaying the same identical levels=NO FUN. But it's still the best rail shooter around.
