This is taken from the IGnInsider mailbox.

Hi, My friends keep telling me that Nintendo plans on unveiling plans for a classic franchise returning to the Nintendo lineup. I was wondering if you might have any inside scoop on this and if by any chance it might be a return of my personal favorite... "Kid Icarus"? When is Nintendo going to learn... WE WANT KID ICARUS.
Oh yeah... Nice site. I just recently became an insider. I like the articles and I like the mailbag... Keep it up.

Peer responds: I'm sure the IGNcube guys must have hinted at it somewhere. Indeed, there's a title in the works by a non-EAD team that revives/expands a known Nintendo franchise. If I say anymore, I'll be shot. We're expecting the title to be shown at E3, but you can't be sure with Nintendo. It may just be on video.

So thoughts? Predictions? Ideas?

Let me throw out some names

MechRider? Earthbound? Punchout? Kid Icarus?

PLEASE let it be Earthbound! Earthbound on SNES was really good, although not the best RPG, but it was fun. I was pissed when Earthbound 64 was cancelled, and since then I've always been waiting for Nintendo to announce one for gba/gcn (preferably GCN). And the GCN could use another solid RPG to it's not so great RPG line up that is has now.

I thought that was a Rare game? *shrugs* I dunno fo sho...

Anyways I can't really think of Nintendo series I'd be excited about if they got revived... but I guess out of those you listed I'd rather see Punch Out because uhh... Well it's the only game listed there that I actually liked that I played (Havn't played Kid Icarus... Or Mechrider)...

I think Sabre Wolf is still being made for the GBA. But I'm guessing Earthbound since its been too long since another one has been made.

MechRider could be a good tool for Nintendo to use to reach out to the 'mature' gamers. Bike with machine guns...

That's made by Konami... and they released a 2D sidescrolling Contra game on PS2 at like the same time they released one on the GBA...

EGM has a blurb about Capcam developing a new Bionic Commando.

Wouldn't the game obviously be Kid Icarus? I mean, the letter said specifically Kid Icarus afterall.

How is Contra: Shattered Soldier for the PS2? As good as the Snes ones? I need a game for my PS2  :(

Well the letter asks if there is a Kid Icarus game being remade or brought back to life, but Peer himself never confirms nor denies if it is Kid Icarus, he just states that there is one.

Yeah, but don't forget BaB, IGN gets to pick the letters that they put in their little updates. I'm sure people send them "when is company X going to make another game Y" letters every day. Why chose this one if there wasn't something significant to it?

A new kid ick would absolutly RULE!

Thanks mate. Oh, is it challenging (like the Contra 3)? If it is, that might persuade me to buy it.
