Well this is an interview or Q&A session with the producer of Batman Dark Tomorrow, the Dark Knights latest console adventure.

Q: Could you please state your name, and your position at Kemco?
A: Mark Gray, Kemco of Japan as internal development information and evalutation.
Q: Kemco have prolonged the release of Batman Dark Tomorrow for a while. Are you confident that the final product will be unique enough to be a success?
A: yes we are we believe that what we have created is a very challenging and fun game that will deliver to all batman fans, this has always been are goal and so we have tried are hardest for the fans.
Q: Why was the decision made to release the title on multiple platforms?
A: it was made due to the fact that we beleived we would reach a more vast group on multiple platforms.

Q: Do you see the other Batman game, and soon to be two, on the GameCube as a threat for the succes of Batman: Dark Tomorrow?
A: We do not currently see the other two batman games as competion as we are the only ones to offer the true comic adventure.
Well I don't know, I thought that BatMan Vengeance was a rather cool game, but will Dark Tomorrow offer an experience that completely different?

Q: Does the game fully uses the capabilities the GameCube has ?
A: Since the game was made for gamecube first it uses the gamecube to its max, which was also helped by nintendo’s support
Nintendo sharing it's time with the little folks...

A: At first nintendo offered us assistance on how to better use the GameCube software and make the most of it, we are confident that the GameCube version will be one of the GameCubes most best games to date.
Pretty bold statement

Q: Will this working together with Nintendo have a sequel in a new bat game or perhaps a GameCube exclusive game?
A: Currently there are plans for a sequel for batman as well as games based on batgirl, robin and catwoman comics which some will be platform exclusive.

I can understand having a seperate Catowoman game and maybe even Nightwing, but I can't really imagine a game starring Robin (unless based on the Teen Titans) or Batgirl, they just aren't that important.

Q: Did you ever look at the opportunity to utilize the GBA-GCN connection and see what extra options you could have used with it?
A: Yes and after early tests we felt it could not be done at that time, but after seeing what other games have done with it we would like to do something like that for the next game.
Well, I really have no idea what they planned on doing if they did use the GBA/GCN connection, but that Batbelt sure does have a lot of tricks...

Q: How are the differences in the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox controller going to play a part in how the game "feels" on each respective platform?
A: They are going to play a very big part, with xbox i will say that you should get the S pad, while the GameCubes feels the best, PS2 meanwhile is right now best for fighting within the game, xbox is the best for moving and GameCube has a very easy control method.
I'm guessing this is due to the fact that the GCN was the lead platform for the game so it should feel a bit more natural on it.

Q: About how long is Batman: Dark Tommorow, in terms of gameplay?
A: It is about 15-25 hours before you try and get the secrets which there are over 20.
Well the game seems to have a decent lenght, but I wonder if it will have any replay value?

Q: Could a future Batman title feature some type of online gameplay? If so, how would that be set up, and would Kemco take the risk of an online online title for the Nintendo's GameCube?
A: Kemco fells that an online batman title would be possible if it was a joint effort with another company to share costs, we would love to take the GameCube online as well as the other consoles and are looking into for future games content which can be downloaded and alter the game like sonic adventures downloads did on the dreamcast. we also currently feel that the GameCube is the best online console due to it not excluding anyone for not having a 56k modem.
I don't know how BatMan will work online, unless it's some type of cop and robberies thing where some folks get to play as the Dynamic Duo while others cops and stuff.

As for the GCN having the best online option at the moment, this interview mainly deals with Europe which doesn't have a broad acceptance of 56k yet.

Q: What sort of changes are being made to the game for localization to other regions?
A: We are currently making a big push for Europe by making the game run with no PAL boarders as while i have been in Europe, i have played some of Capcoms games and cannot beleive that Europe allows those boarders.
Can someone enlighten me on these border things?

Q: How do the graphics between the lower-end Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and higher-end Microsoft Xbox compare?
A: the PS2 version currently is the worst but that is due to us still working on it, while the gamecube has the best graphics thanks to Nintendos support, xbox meanwhile is on par with the GameCube.
Again much of this is due to the fact that the GameCube was the lead platform for the project.

Q: Is there anything you would like to tell the European Nintendo GameCube owners?
A: that this game is very dark and is the more mature title for gamecube that everyone has wanted and that we feel it is time for batman to become part of these more mature titles and also that Europe should no longer put up with the PAL boarders
Well, it's bold words, but really would a game about a comic book character be a "mature" title the Cube needs.

Q: With Nintendo's Zelda game coming out around the same date as Batman: Dark Tommorow in North America, do you feel that your sales will be affected by this?
A: No we feel that adult gamers who own the GameCube will purchase batman.
They are gonna go head-to-head with the new Zelda title and hope the whole Cel-shading thing works for them? I really don't know.

I wonder how much the compression will damage the quality?

[quote]Q: How does the rumble/feedback feature on controllers play a part in Batman: Dark Tommorow?
A: It allows you to feel batmans movements and heart beat as he is hurt.
That sound somewhat interesting, I prefer to see/feel it in motion before making judgement.

Q: Will Kemco make an big announcements at the upcoming E3 event?
A: There will be at least 3 big announcements at E3.
Q: Any details you can reveal?
A: No apart from that at least 1 will be on future batman games and another on a new game for GameCube.
Well, I guess that's one more for the Cube, but is it that new stealth action game that was brought up? And well more BatMan is cool.

Q: Nintendo GameCube is number-three in US console sales is this something that you can change?
A: We hope that we can help change this and aim the GameCube at a more mature audience.
Does BatMan have the superpowers to pull the Cube to 2nd place?

That is all.

Good post Penguin, as for Batman Dark tomorrow putting Gamecube into second place, lets be seirous here, it cant do that alone. And you say your not sure Batman is really a mature thing, you go watch the origional Batman or Batman Returns and tell me Batman isnt mature. I think this might be a really good game...it had better be, after all the delays.

haha, the point about it being pushed to second was a joke, I don't think BatMan will be a big hit for the GCN, but that's just my view.

As for the maturity level, I know BatMan has his dark side, but the fact still stands that he is a comic book character, he won't be taken too seriously IMO.

Batman can be seen as a mature game........once you do it right that is. I want to see how this game turns out, this was suppose to come out since 2001 I think, I hope it's good.

From what I've seen with the screens, the game is darker and looks more mature. So, I think people might rent this if it controls good. Graphics look good as they are, hopefully the controls are just as good.

You evidently never read comics. The Dark Knight Returns and The
Killing Joke were harbingers for the more mature comics of today.
Movie Batman is a joke. If you question comics maturity level I
suggest you do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of 100 Bullets
or Powers.

Ok ok, let me explain this whole BatMan situation, BatMan is a dark and sometime vengeneful character, but you got to admit the cartoon series, the 60s live-action show and the movies (atleast the last two) really didn't help his image much for the mass market, BatMan is seen as a child's hero, the same as SuperMan, that is ofcourse just my opinion.

Don't try and weasel out of it now, you thought Batman was kiddy. There is no excuse for that.

You know it's a pretty good thing that Jeepnut forced me to re-open my clone factory or else you could have seriously hurt me, and we all you know you didn't want to do that.

And I still stand by my point, BatMan's image has been tainted by his mass market acceptance as a kid's hero.
