View Full Version : Regarding the 6th Battle of the GT Member Warz

Bond
02-22-2003, 09:37 PM
I have deleted Battle 6 of the GT Member Warz for obvious reasons. An Administrator or Super Moderator editted the results and tampered with the battle even after I specially asked for no one to alter the results.

The GT Member Warz is in a permanent stand still until the person that screwed with the poll confesses and apologizes.

It's funny how this came on when Dyne and I came in to play :D

Joeiss
02-22-2003, 09:45 PM
LOL. It is funny, because it isn't really important, yet Bond is making it seem like some big scandal.

gekko
02-22-2003, 09:53 PM
It's not the poll that is the problem, but the actions of the staff member responsible.

GameMaster
02-22-2003, 10:02 PM
I have to agree with Joeiss somewhat. I think this is being blown out of proportion just a wee bit. But then again, why couldn't they have just honored Bond's request and leave the poll untampered. Bond, I suggest you just start this battle over again.

Let's play detective now. We can even create a poll and people can vote for the most likely suspect. We'll begin by listing the people who could have altered this:

Adminastrators

- Neo
- gekko
- CamFu

Super Moderators

- TheGame
- PureEvil
- BigJustinW

General Board Moderators

- TheGame
- GameKinG

Now, here's a list of the people who were here today from the above:

- CamFu
- GameKinG
- gekko
- Neo

Note: Please take into account that anyone not listed above may view these boards in invisible mode and therefore, we cannot tell whether they have visited today or not.

Now, is the time to be suspicious and speculate within this thread which of the four people listed above committed the crime. Whoever you are, know that your not safe for long, we'll find you and expose you. Let the convicting begin! :D

You can't, they appear for admins.

GameMaster
02-22-2003, 10:07 PM
And the trouble with that is that all three admins. are suspects. Who can you trust these days? *eyes them suspiciously*

GameKinG
02-22-2003, 10:36 PM
Yeah its more serious then a staff member rigging a poll, but actually abusing powers and being untrust worthy. But, I suppose its not that serious, still not good though.

I say check Justin, he just looks guilty, and to GameMaster while Justin is both BigJustinW and TheGame so the suspect is one and the same.

I was referring to CamFu and Neo, both of whom were on today. While Justin wasn't, unless he is in invisible mode.

hmm... I think we shoud make the thread's a manual vote somehow... like post your desision.

Whichever mod did this please fess up... messing with important polls isn't cool. Hell, I was already mad enough in that other thread about me being fired... but I can take that as a joke.

Whoever did it just stop tampering with polls.

Ok, so which of you did it?

- Neo
- CamFu
- gekko
- GameKinG

We still haven't heard anything from Neo or CamFu.

I did it, OK? I hacked into the system, just to change the poll because I did not like the result.

Thats another way it could happen. Not that you hacked it, but somebody who would go through the trouble because they hate BF. Maybe not, maybe a little more far fetched...oh well...

Joeiss

I hate BF so much. That is why I did it. LOL.

Ok, I have decided to give the person who editted the results a week to confess and apologize. If they do not do that within a week, then so be it, but I have lost all respect for whoever it was.

The Battle for BlueFire vs. Dyne will be replayed. Instead of using a poll, each member must post who they voted for and I will keep a running tally. I know this is an inconvenience, but it will hopefully insure that there is no cheating. If anyone tampers with these results then I will officially cancel the contest and I suggest that they are banned.

I'm sorry if I sound so irritated, but I specifically asked that no one alter the results. And of course someone did.

Neo
02-23-2003, 02:38 PM
I didn't think it was necessary to respond to this, but since everyone is so interested I'll go ahead and tell you I have no idea who altered your poll. I haven't even been paying attention to these war topics. What's the big deal, is there a prize I'm not aware of?

I think it is just a popularity contest.

Well, it was a nicely disguised one, but yeah it was basically a popularity contest. I think Joeiss is also a tad bitter about not being in it.

That's not necessary, no matter how many times a poll is edited, we can still see who voted, and count the correct number of votes for each person.

We also could've fixed the poll which you deleted, if it was in fact, edited.

LOL. I am just being a **** disturber. I couldn't care less about who did this. I just pointed out that from what gekko said, it sounded like he thinks that you are making this whole thing up.

The poll graphs according to the percent, not the actual results.

Not exactly. I don't think Bond would make it up, but the results could seem fixed, but not be. I was unsure whether or not the amount of voters were unusually high, or whether it was blatantly obvious that it was edited (as the later screen showed).

Joeiss
02-23-2003, 07:40 PM
Ohhhhhhhhhh. I understand now.

GameMaster
02-23-2003, 09:29 PM
Not that Bond would this or anything but in a situation like this, screenshots are pretty much worthless. Hook someone up who's good with Photoshop (like Dyne) and boom, you got yourself an "authentic" screenshot.

The Germanator
02-23-2003, 09:52 PM
Dude...I saw the actual screen when it was something like 4367 to 11 in favor of Dyne....I actually made a post about it when I saw it. If the thread was still here you could see Obviously I have no reason to lie, the poll was definetly tampered with. Bond is telling the truth. Whoever did it just has to fess up to their actions, I'm sure they were just kidding around, and didn't think much of it. Just put this whole mess to an end.

GameKinG
02-23-2003, 11:55 PM
Yeah, there is no doubt it happened. Germanator was the first to spot it. There is even a time frame we know it happened between.

*thinks* There ARE a few quick-fixes for this type of situation.

Brought to you with smilie additions courtesy of the Bubeedut and Mr. Nobody Alliance of Cuba.

1) Flip a fine, two-sided coin (assuming you have a coin with exactly two sides... no more). In a group chat with both BF and Dyne, you tell them to choose a side and keep that side to themselves (we don't want cheating). Then, you flip the coin, say what the side is, and ask which of the two (BF and Dyne) had chosen that side. *scratches his head* Something about this little plan doesn't seem right...

2) Have an auction. Whichever of the two empties more of their wallets to the RP Charity will get my vote... and all the other 4000 or so added into the poles. :deal:

3) Rematch... but in the ring! :boxing:

4) Forget about, disqualify both, and continue. Plain enough, no?

What I think may have happened, you ask? Perhaps someone's lousy Mac wasn't loading properly, or the forum wasn't recieving info correctly... that is, someone could have submitted their vote continuously out of frustration (say... 4000 times!) and finally gave up to find the next morning that every single one went through.

That, or Dyne didn't care and gave himself votes for the fun of it.

*shrugs* Either way.

You can only do 1 vote. So it couldn't just mess up and actually make it 4000 or more. I'm guessing maybe a hacker did it or a mod isn't fessing up.
