You know i liked the look of the first dark cloud. I was so normal. I mean but now with dark cloud two is just seems like the game keeps going for a cheap zelda rip-off. I mean don't get me wrong but everything zelda does graphic wise they do for dark cloud. They were going to have the realistic zelda then they f-ed it up and made it toon shading and now they go and do it w/ dc2.
I'm not comin in here flamin at ps2 but I mean atleast they could be smart enough to keep it normal. Blah theres my bitch for today.
p.s. it doesn't look bad, check out the screen shots at

Or maybe they did it because they liked the look of like... harvest moon or one of the many other cel shaded games..... *shrugs*

... DC2's cel shading is entirely different than Wind Waker, they look nothing alike. And Dark Cloud 2 is much more RPGish, and has a lot more special stuff, like the Georama (building towns), Invention System, etc. So please don't ever say DC2 is a Zelda rip off.

The game is not toon shaded. It's cel-shaded, like a number of titles that have nothing to do with Zelda. And most people I've talked to prefer the new look...I played the demo and I can say without a doubt that the new graphic style works.
"You know i liked the look of the first dark cloud. I was so normal"
What does that mean? Normal for what? More life-like? Different people have different tastes...Level 5 and SCEA (if they did any decision-making) don't cater to the needs of each individual. They look at it in a couple ways: 'What would appeal most to gamers, so the game can sell?' or 'What look fits this type of game most (based on the opinions of the developers, or a select group of gamers via polls and surveys)?'
I wouldn't get too worked up over it...the new look doesn't hurt the game in any way...in fact it has opened up a number of opportunities...town-building has been made simpler for the user, but more complex in the way you can customize certain objects. Try the game out...and if you don't like it, we can argue some more :) ;)

well it comes out next tuesday so you may have trouble renting it now...
As for the look of the game, clearly surfin4lifer hasn't played the game, for if he did he would not be complaining.

This doesn't really affect me since I always thought Dark Cloud sucked, so I doubt I'll buy this..

and it is because of that attitude that you'll miss out an a truly wonderful game. DC2 is much better than DC1.

I've watched my friends played the original and it seemed like a rip off of Zelda in so many ways. Once in a while, I would swear he was playing Zelda even when I wasnt looking at the screen. The music in some areas was very very similar. And the way some parts of the game are looked and played JUST like Zelda. So if the first one was a rip off, the second has to follow.

the thing is...it's a different type of game than Zelda...if you can't note the differences, it's your own fault. maybe you should play the game? And "if the first one was a rip off, the second has to follow" is a pretty stupid remark. Dark Cloud 2 is a different beast than Dark Cloud. Please read into the game, if not play it, before forming such bold, ignorant statements.

just because I feel like it, I'm gonna say this.
First of all, DC2's graphics were always meant to be that way, where as Zelda:WW went from realistic to cel-shaded. The reason DC2's graphics are different is because Level 5 (the developer) is exploring the the new graphic style that they will be using on a few other games (True Fantasy Live Online and Dragon Warrior 8).
Also, just to let you know, DC2's graphics are NOT cel-shaded. This is a form of animation called CG modeling, a style that got it's start in tradition animation like Zoids and the new He-Man series. The difference is the fact that cell shading uses a base color skin over a 3D mesh and doesn't have a black line around it. Where as the CG modeleing in Dark Cloud 2 (and in Wild Arms 3) is partially 3D mesh covered by a detailed and textured skin.
So anyway...yeah, just though I'd share that with you. I'm not flaming you or anything, so dont go all crazy or anything.

can we just close this thread until it turns into a mod flaming championship. I mean damn, I figured atleast the mods would be mature enough to keep the flaming to a minimum.
