You know, I have been in the Army for some time now and I don't know why it surprises me each time this happens to me. But it always does. Being in the job that I am, I expect to be called up for war and not come back for like six months to a year. That is to expected. But to the field... come on. When somebody tells you a certain time that you are going to be gone, you would think that is how long you are going to be gone.

So here is what happened. Last month, I was at work when they told me that I would be leaving to the field for some NBC training the next day. I would only be out there for a three or four days. Then I would be picked up and brought back to normal work. That didn't sound so bad. I was released a little early from work that day to spend some time with the family and to pack. And that it what I did. I packed for 5 days.

Well, wouldn't you believe it. I was out in the field for about 3 weeks. And remember, I only had 5 days worth of clothes. It was pretty disgusting... but what could I do.

Yep, that is where I have been for a little while. Stuck in the field doing training. So, how is everybody elses life been doing?

If I were you, I'd be pretty angry. I'd be packing my bags and heading home, forever. I hope you get a formal apology from someone high up on the chain.

How's my life you ask? Its 3:00 A.M. as I type this, I just finished my god-damn homework, I hate school. Other than that, all is well. See you later. :)

You can't just up and leave. Its called going AWOL and he'll get arrested. Besides, I come from a family of military men. There is a sick part of you that enjoys roughing it like that. Its the best thing you ever did that you never want to do again.

My life? I just put in a 20 hour work day yesterday. FUN.

Sounds rough, Fu.

As for me? I'm in training for football season...Last weekend I got a football in the nose which cut me in two places, gave me a couple of black eyes and a very slight fracture near the bridge. In other words, all is well.

D00d I can't even remotely relate to what you must be going through.

I'm sure this experience that you gain will be well worth it for you and the people you know.

But it's training right now, so I guess it isn't nearly as tough as being "on the job" so to speak

being in jail is sometimes better then going off to war and dying, id rather be called onto duty break a leg or arm in training hehe and then be sent home because id be useless, im glad im not a male because my chanes of getting drafted would be high.... but i think for me and jonbo here we can claim dissability hehe and get a desk job, he recently had back surgery over the summer and my spine isnt all the straight either WOOHOO! but it sucks

Naturally, I would reply to this post...

But let me just tell you now, Cam- I've had it worse than that in the Marine Corps.

I don't think I need to give any details, let's just say that I was once attached to an artillery battery for six weeks...;)

I suppose you're cool now though, as am I. Only I'm waiting to be deployed again so we can kil-- I mean, um, end this damn war!

You heard they're starting hearings on the 24th to see if we should move our guys out of Germany?

Don't you just love being moved around?

Once i went to my grandma's with 5 days worth of clothes, but I only stayed for 4 days. Worst experience of my life.

My cousin did. He told his family he was out on sick leave for MONO. He eventually did get arrested, but it took a couple months before he finally did. All he got was a less-than honorable discharge. Certinaly not good, but not as bad as a dishonorable discharge. And he got completly free of the...well this was teh NAVY. He is a car salesman now, so hes doing all right as far as we can tell.

He got lucky. Once you go AWOL over 30 days you are in violation of article 85, desertion. Not exactly something to take lightly. During times of war, it's punishable by death. I'm surprised your cousin didn't get a dishonorable discharge, loss of pay and allowances, and some good old hard labor.

Believe me Shadow Fox, this is not the worst thing that I have done (or has been done to me) in the Military. I'm sure that both of us can swap stories back and forth all day long. It's just that the Military really gets under my skin at times.

And the funny part about this, is after I was done with my training my First Sgt. (this is a guy in charge of the whole company) was thinking of any reason to not let me go back. You should have heard some of the excuses. Oh well, life goes on. :D

gekko...

It's funny that you should mention that. Because there is always talk going on around here. Even all the high ranking brass around here are getting a little on edge. There are rumors of us leaving... soon, very soon. But nothing has been set in stone yet. But don't worry, I will tell you when I get my orders to head on over to the middle east.

Maybe, just maybe I will see Shadow Fox over there.

Well Cam, I'm gonna first say, WELCOME BACK!!

Then ,i'm gonna bust on your @$$ for a few minutes like this:

ARMY = Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet! (Right Gekko?)
NBC = No Body Cares (Nuclear Biological and Chemical WMDs)
Cam = Can anyone make this guy stay here?

Ok, now that I'm done stirring stuph up, Cam, I want to know WHY you volunteer to go BACK to the ARMy right BEFORE some major conflict errupts!?!

It's like you reinlist and the wolrd goes to war, maybe you should ebcome a demolistionist and a Stuntman, you'll still get to blow crap up as a Demolitinist and as a Stuntman you'd be trained to have your @%$ kicked, and kick the other guy back, but we wouldn't ahve to worry as much about you killing yourself, now drop that gernade without pulling the pin and relax.

Also Cam, are you using the new NBC protection suits, ro the Disasterous old ones, and are your MREs the kind the Require Trioxane to heat in the tin cup, or the kind in the pouch that just needs water?

Yes I've been studyign up on the Armed forces and I now know whatNBC Stands for, I used ot think it wa just a crappy TV Network, now I know it's the three greatest WMDs we know of.
