NEW YORK (Feb. 10) - Dude! The actor who gained fame and a cult following as the slacker "Steven'' in commercials for Dell computers was arrested buying a small bag of marijuana, police said.
Benjamin Curtis, a 22-year-old New York University drama student, awaited arraignment Monday on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
Police said he was arrested Sunday night on the Lower East Side after officers on a drug detail spotted him buying a small bag of marijuana from Omar Mendez, 19. Mendez faces drug sale and possession charges.
Curtis' agent, Bonnie Shumofsky, had no immediate comment on the arrest.
Curtis' portrayal of a surfer type who proclaims, "Dude, yer gettin' a Dell!'' drove up computer sales and spawned T-shirts, caps, and backpacks, along with Web sites and online fan clubs.

Excellent! He was the second most annoying TV commercial guy in history. He irritated me so much that he made me want to actually stay away from Dells.

I actually think Steve the Dell guy is more annoying. At least the Verizon Wireless guy isn't acting like a know-it-all.

That's true, but she still doesn't annoy me much. Maybe it's because she's marketing a product that's not aimed at me in the first place.

At the arraignment, Criminal Court Judge Ellen Coin advised Curtis that his case will be dismissed, and his record expunged, if he avoids arrest during the next year.
Asked if he understood, Curtis said, "Yes, ma'am."

he Dell "D00d" deserved this, remebr he's helpinbg the "Evil Empire" known as Micro$oft, and hwe always sounded like he'd be a runer-up for a Sequal top "Dude, wher's my Car" which could ave been called "Dude, Where's my SUV" or "D00dz, Warez my Dell?"
The Verizon guiy isn't as bad, now if somone mentions the "TV Guy" from those Honda commercials I'm going to beqat you with a wet trout!
