View Full Version : E3: Xbox has Halo 2, PS2 will likely have MGS3...what about Gamecube?

What will be Gamecube's heavy-hitter at this year's E3?

We all know Halo 2 will be huge at E3. New trailer, maybe some in-game footage, possibly a playable build. I also suspect Metal Gear Solid 3 will be unveiled, and it would only make sense for the title to be on the PS2 platform. Everyone goes nuts over the Metal Gear trailers...they're so cinematic. But what about Gamecube? Zelda: WW will have already been released...what big gun does Nintendo have up its sleeve?

Mario K..Ka... nah that will suck ass. :D

I dunno, Maybe Animal Crossing 2 will be shown... besides that, there will have to be somthing origanal. Normally the show could be saved by:

1. A Rare Game (impossible now)
2. Zelda (on the brink of release here, already out in Japan)
3. A Mario Game (Maybe?)
4. Announcements of a new prehaprehal (Online gaming maybe?)
5. A new Shiggy game (even though the last few sucked)
6. Pokemon (Isn't there a game coming out soon anyway?)

If we are talking about sequals, they could come with some early shots of a new Nintendo franchise game. This year they simply don't have a game that will blow everybody away that we know of before hand like Halo 2 or MGS3.... they could have a shock game though.

Perhaps Too Human... I'm not quite sure.

Nintendo could have a good showing...a new Donkey Kong game might be unveiled...and like you said Game, a bunch of sequels (AC, Mario, Zelda?)...

but I don't know what their defining GAME OF E3 will be...

Hmm, now that I think of it, from what we know, there really isn't something big to expect at E3. Maybe they will reveal a GOOD Mario game (SMS was so disappointing...), I would love it if they announced AC2 (with online capabilties of course, but it probably won't happen, unfortunately...). Like BF said, Too Human is a major possiblity...and hopefully Retro Studios comes up with something...

a realistic looking zelda would have people sh*tting their pants for months

but i doubt a zelda game, let alone a realistic looking one, would be shown so soon, like Zelda:WW will have only been in North America for about 2 months by then

Mario 128? Pikmin 2? Raven Blade? Too Human? Pokemon Stadium Online?

They've survived years where they never had the "main attraction" their biggest. I think they'll do fine.

Well, maybe Killer 7 and Resident Evil 4 even though I don't think those classify as Nintendo games

Whatever the hell Factor 5, Retro Studios and Silicon Knights are working on.

And as far as I know Nintendo will probably show PokeMon Stadium online (From what I've gathered it is only one of the two PokeMon games in development for the GCN at the moment), the other PokeMon game, Mario Kart, Tennis and Golf, PikMin 2, Animal Crossing 2, F-Zero GCN, StarFox Armada, but what new games.. *Scratches heads*

Maybe that Camelot RPG or the Namco RPG that was never shown.

maybe you misunderstood my post

we're not talking about what Nintendo will show...we're talking about whether or not Nintendo will have a 'show-stopper' like Halo 2 or MGS3...and if so, what title it will be

I'm guessing its going to be a few online games that will be shown. Maybe a few short "teasers" of the next Zelda game with a more realistic look. But I'm hoping they will show Animal Crossing 2 with online play and many other things that will just make the first one seem like a steaming pile of horse poo.

FF:CC?

For me FFX surpassed MGS2 in many ways. So I would consider this game to raise a few eyebrows.

I didn't enjoy MGS2 as much as I would, hopefully MGS3's story will make sense.

Yeah, MGS2's story made sense, most just couldn't put it all together or didn't catch all the details or something... I remember back when the game was still fairly new there was a big topic at IGN that had a plot guide or a link to one or something and it made things more clear..

Y'know, kinda like Silent Hill... Play it once and you're like "What the fudge?" play it again and you're like "What the fudge?" (but to a lesser extent), then look at a plot guide and you're like "NOW IT MAKES SENSE! "

:sneaky:

I read the guides afterwards, but still didn't understand it. 2 out of the 4 story guides said that there were holes in its story.

Can somebody post me the link of a story faq for MGS2? I honestly don't get half of it.

I know Silent Hill. You HAVE to read the guides to understand the story. Once u do it's awesome, but MGS2 i dunno

Nintendo will NOT show anything of the new Zelda. I mean TWW and SC2 are enough Zelda.

GameKinG is right, Nintendo usually has a lot of good games. They don't always NEED one topper. They're Nintendo, they have the franchises and that is often enough.

But IF they have a real topper to rival Halo 2 or MGS3, it would be form one of the silent 2nd party developers.

Oh yeah, Lionhead is working on an exclusive GC project. :)

I hope it didn't... MGS2 will be my next game.

FFX is cool and all, but there is somthing about the charicter models that piss me off.

Last night I saw the Yuna/Tidus kiss part, and I think it was horible how they made the swicth between real time visuals and that over-detailed FMV.

Also, Tidus as a real time guy looks and sounds like he's american, then in the FMV it reminded me that I was playing a japanese game. I dunno, I guess I don't like the transition. :p

If FF:CC could stack up to FFX, it will be a show-stopper for it's FMVs alone. But judging from the early pics, I just can't see the realism of the Ps2 game.

I just said it did :p

I liked MGS2, but for some reason FFX satisfied me more overall. With the sidequests, story, FMV, and gameplay. As DH would say that's just me though :D

It's worth buying and playing for sure, but it all ended up being really confusing for me at the end, to the point where there were too many twists to the story. Kind of just made me give up and finish it straight off, without worrying about the story. If anyone has the time to write a brief summary of the story and how it made sense, or point me in the right direction of reading about the story, I'd be much appreciative. And I'd play it again with that in mind.

I won't spoil anything for The Game ;), but yeh you should play it. It's a worthy purchase of course, but FFX as a game totally blew me away.

Oh yeh, about the Japanese looking Tidus in FMV, I totally get what you're saying. It would have been better if he was less Japanese looking, but apparently they wanted an "Asian" look to the game. Not just Chinese/Japanese, but all of Asia.
