Well I picked up the newest issue of OPM or atleast I think it's the newest issue (The one with the Getaway on the cover) and on the demo disc included with the magazine was a plyable demo of AKI's newest wrestling game, Def Jam Vendetta.
The game is what you would imagine a next-generation No Mercy to be, it has similar controls (right stick to taunt, left stick or D-Pad to move,X is for grapples, box is for strikes [kicks n punches and what not], O is to er run, triangle is used to enter the ring, R1 is used to block punches and l1 to reverse grapples and pin) Much like No Mercy the controls also feature the weak/strong system of punches/kicks/grapples where holding on a button gives you a different set of moves.
The game does change some elements of the old engine, it has smoother character graphics, it's a bit faster and well the "spirit/atitude" meter of old is gone. Instead, there is like a reverse health meter and a regular healt meter, one goes up as you give out an ass whooping and the other goes down as you take it. When you meter reaches the top, it will begin to glow (Much like in Mercy) and you will use the taunt button which will go into a small close up of your character, then your finisher is executed very similar to Mercy, hold the grapple button then press the analog stick.
The game is cool even if I would prefer it had a WWE license attached to it, but it's a cool game nonetheless.
the demo allows you to play a 4-min one on one bout with either the computer or another character, and you are allowed to pick from 4 characters (Redman, Method Man, Manny and someone else)
