View Full Version : SD Cards

Has there been any new information on the Panasonic SD Cards for the GCN? I remember that was like one of the best features (in my opinion, and this was a while ago) about the GCN.
I was at a photography store the other day, and I saw these SD Cards at the store. And they were selling the 64 MB cards for $68.99 Canadian. When you think about it, that is double the price of a PS2 memory, and you are getting 8 times the memory!!!
Anyways... I think that Nintendo should hurry up and release the memory card adaptor for use of the SD Cards. This would be much better for sports games, and now you can do multiple franchises! So, please don't say that this was cancelled, lol... I haven't been paying attention to news about this for a while, so I guess anything is possible....
But, don't you guys think that these cards would rock? I mean, so much memory for a pretty descent price. What do you all think about this?
NOTE : The only reason I am comparing it to the PS2 memory card is because I am not sure of how large the memory storage is for the GCN, but all I know is that PS2's (and Xbox's for that matter) have much much more memory.

We already have 3 of those cards at home. My dad uses them for photography. BTW I just looked at them again and MAN those things are small.
But so far Nintendo hasn't announced anything yet. Which I think is stupid. Give the developers the freedom to use that extra memory and give the players a cheap card!!
But I know why Nintendo delays it. With the adaptar, you only pay Nintendo once for the thingy, after that Panasonic gets all the money for the cards (IF you need more than one...)

I hope they announce it soon. The Mem Card 51 was pathetic. The 251 is alright, but more space is much better for sports games, as you said.
Some SD Cards can hold up to 1 GB, well, I'm not sure if they are out yet, but they will eventually, I remember reading about it. Although these ones would be very expensive. They are like mini hard drives.

Some how, I think Nintendo is going to keep this gone... tsk
I plan on taking apart a normal Mem card for GC soon, and fitting and SD card into it correctly so it would work. be interesting anywho. cuz even if i can only make one. one might be all i'll ever need.

Just get the Interact Mega memory Card, over 1000 blocks for 30 bucks, You cant go wrong...all that stuff about you getting your games erased is bull****, because I've had mine for over 6 months, and absolutely no problems.

from what i heard. the SD card will work already with the GC. all it needs really is the adaptor to make it slide into the slot correctly.

Hm sounds interesting Null... please post it when you've done it. I might try it too. :)
(although... if it's possible, would you be the first one to discover? Wouldn't somebody else have already tried it?)
well thats just it. im not sure whats involved. there might be a lot more to it.
as gekko said. just putting it in prolly wont work. infact i doubt it would.
i had saw a site a month or two ago. about someone had gotten an SD card to work for GC.
then again it coulda been a bunch of BS.
but i'll have to find that site again.

Maybe they dont want to do it, because you can stick in in a computer, and somehow put game data on the comp.
Then again, I realy dont know much about eumlation, or SD cards...

you can already do that.
they've always had adaptors to plug memory cards into your PC.
PSX had em... N64 had em, so do PS2 and GC.
some compies like EA, have actual downloads like Rouster updates. you can download, put on a mem card, and plug back into your PS2 to have all the correct players on your team.
thats nothing new.

And can't you download completed game files from IGN or something?

Well, then maybe they dont want to contribute for forms of it. Im sure they dont think its ok to release it, since it already happens.
